I've been looking at how many fan edits there are out there and some of them sound almost a bit promising.  There's one that combines AvP and AvP:R, fixes the lighting, edits out the dumb teenager characters and so on.

Does it help or do you end up with a polished turd?

I've refused to watch AvP:R a second time (I saw it in the cinema) and I assume it can't really be helped but it'd be good to know your thoughts.

I did watch a combined Prom/Cov edit.  Even with the fixes, Covenant was still irredeemably awful.

You think Covenant was irredeemably awful and you're asking if a fan edit of AvPR would help it?

I get your point.

The thing is, I've seen Covenant 3 or 4 times.  I've only watched AvP:R once.  I mean I assume it's still unrelenting dogshit but the question stands, when you tidy things up and edit out all the 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' is there something salvageable there?  I assume not but people seem to like the Wolf character for example.  I can't even remember what he does in the film anymore.

There's a version that cuts the film down to just his part of the story. No idea of it's any good.

He continually makes things worse. Honestly if you took out all the really crap bits and just kept the crap bits it'd run for about 20 minutes.

can't say fairer than that!

Just being able to see wtf is going on would be an improvement.  Not much of one, but at least I could see what I was going to hate at least.

I remember seeing some of the set designs, and being like dang, these hive designs are pretty good looking.  Completely surprised to see it because of you not being able to see them in the movie.

The Cruentus

I saw the film with it being upscaled and brightened but its was no better by any means. A lot of the film's problems are in the plot, writing and characters.
