Something good about AvPR? Not the easiest of challenges... 😅
Ok, I liked that the reproductive cycle of the predalien differed. I sometimes feel that there is an overwhelming portion of the fandom that will not accept anything that deviates from what was seen in 'Aliens', rejecting eggmorphing etc. This of course is fuelled by years of expanded media (Dark Horse comics and games) which simply repeated what was seen in the second movie. But if you take what is seen in the movies as the only consideration for a moment, I feel there has *never* been one definitive 'cycle' - from eggmorphing in the first movie, the queen/hive system in the second, the introduction of a superfacehugger in Alien 3 etc... the whole appeal of the xeno to me, it's that it is alien. Once you have it all figured out, and give it a simple insectoid life cycle, it's much less alien, and a lot more animal. I like my Xenos to be unpredictable, and chaotic, and adapting in whatever means necessary to reproduce (which is why I enjoyed the concept of the pathogen introduced in Prometheus and seeing all the wonderful diverse organisms and mutations that can result from it).
So yeah, not a fan of AvPR, but I'll give them credit for trying something new with the xeno.
