Rahim

Rahim was the medical officer aboard the USCSS Maginot. Rahim was performing surgery when he was killed by the ticks. Rahim appears in the 2025 FX Series Alien: Earth and is played by Amir Boutrous.

Biography

Aboard The Maginot

Rahim was the medical officer aboard the USCSS Maginot. 65 years ago, Weyland-Yutani sent the USCSS Maginot, including Rahim and the crew, on a gathering mission to find alien lifeforms and bring them back to Earth.

4 Months From Earth

In the year 2120, the crew of the Maginot awoke from hypersleep. They were 805 million miles away from Earth and are four months away from reaching Earth. In the mess hall, the crew are having something to eat. Sullivan says she is creeped out by cryosleep. Rahim says it’s because Teng is watching her while she sleeps.

Captain Dinsdale says that Comms are down, the log files are corrupt and they are burning too much fuel. Morrow says security will investigate the issues. The Captain wants to see what systems they can shut down. Shmuel suggests shutting down the ‘zoo’ with the specimens. Morrow reminds the crew that the specimens are the mission’s primary objective. Some of the crew re-enter cryosleep.

Facehuggers Escape Their Containment

Around 17 days before reaching Earth, there was a fire in containment. Captain Dinsdale and Bronski entered to extinguish the fire but were attacked by two Facehuggers that had escaped. They are brought back to the Medbay and Rahim tries to remove the Facehugger from Dinsdale by making an incision at the base of its tail. It bled acid, which killed Dinsdale.

Rahim is in the Medbay with Zaveri and Chibuzo when Clem and Morrow enter. Morrow asks what happened. Morrow asks how the fire was started, but they don’t know. Zaveri asks how to remove the Facehugger from Bronski, but Chibuzo says he should be placed in cryosleep as per protocol. Morrow asks what the state is of the other lifeforms. Morrow tells Clem and Chibuzo to go to the zoo and make sure the rest of the creatures are secure.

Zaveri tells Clem to go find Mr Teng and tell him to help Dr. Rahim put Bronski into his cryotube and prep Dinsdale for burial in space. Zaveri tells Morrow to get dressed and meet her on the bridge. Rahim, Clem and Teng place Bronski in a cryotube. Clem asks Rahim why Weyland-Yutani want these creatures. Rahim tells him it’s about power.

Morrow and Zaveri rush to the cryo chambers and notice that something has burst out of Bronski while he was in cryosleep. Rahim says he was just gone for 10 minutes and says that perhaps you just can’t freeze Facehuggers. Rahim visits Chibuzo in the lab and immediately notices one of the ticks has escaped. Rahim places it back in the container and tells Chibuzo that Zaveri wants to see everybody in the mess hall.

In the mess hall, the crew are brought together. Zaveri says that Bronski is dead and a Xenomorph escaped from the cryopod. They’re going to sweep the ship and capture it. Morrow says that somebody is trying to destroy the ship and he wants duty rosters and activity logs in one hour. Interviews with off-duty personnel will start immediately. From now on, the crew must travel in pairs. He reminds people that Zaveri, Clem and himself are armed and nobody else gets a gun until he is sure they are innocent.

Morrow starts interviewing the crew and starts with Rahim. Rahim says he was in the Medbay that morning. Morrow says the Medbay cameras have a blind spot and says that he was off-screen for 10 minutes. Rahim says he just wants to go home.

Death

After Malachite collapses, he is brought to the Medbay. Rahim radios Zaveri, who is in the lab and tells her she needs to come to the Medbay. Rahim and Chibuzo start running tests on Malachite. Chibuzo tells Morrow he’s losing blood. Rahim sees something in his digestive tract and needs to open him up and stop the bleeding. Zaveri gives him permission to proceed. Rahim opens him up and sees that he has six foreign bodies lining his esophagus. Chibuzo says they’re ticks. Rahim says he’s going to try and remove one. Morrow objects, but Rahim continues and tries to remove one. The tick releases a toxic substance, which kills Rahim, Chibuzo and Malachite.

Personality and Traits

Despite being a doctor, Rahim was a smoker and had an issue with using prescription drugs and alcohol. When Morrow was interviewing him, Morrow asked if he would find anything missing from the pharmacy, but Rahim said he had been sober for a long time.

Trivia

• Rahim is Jewish. When he tells Teng to stop watching Sullivan in cryosleep, he says something in Hebrew. The actor who plays Rahim, Amir Boutrous, is Israeli and can speak fluent Hebrew and English.
• Rahim appears in Episode 1, “Neverland” and Episode 5, “In Space, No One…”.
