In February 2025, Fede Alvarez said he was writing the script and hopes to start shooting in 2025. Fede Alvarez mentioned in June 2025 that he and his co-writer Rodo Sayagues are currently writing the script and thinks the film will be in pre-production by October 2025.

Alien: Romulus 2 Casting

No cast members have been confirmed yet, but it is expected that Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson will reprise their roles as Rain and synthetic Andy.

Alien: Romulus 2 Storyline

No details about the story have been released. In January 2025, Alvarez spoke to Empire about where they could go with the film.

Wherever we go now, we can go into uncharted waters. I think it’ll be so exciting to go with characters you know from this movie, to a place in the Alien franchise that we’ve never been before, and to discover things that you’ve never seen before.

In April 2025, a rumour surfaced that a Predator would appear in the film. Alvarez did actually hint that this would be a possibility earlier in the year when he was talking about possible Alien vs Predator concepts. The idea was that you’re watching a solo Alien or Predator film, and the other creature suddenly appears without realising it.
