Updated: Alien: Earth Officially Renewed for Second Season!

Alien: Earth will be returning for another season. Dropping today from The Hollywood Reporter, Noah Hawley has reached a deal with Disney Entertainment and FX. Production on Season 2 is expected to start next year and shoot primarily in London, a shift from the Thailand production of the first season. John Landgraf released a statement to THR.

“It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX’s best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future,” FX chairman John Landgraf said in a statement. “Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories — and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary. We can’t wait to get to work on the next season of Alien: Earth, as well as some equally exciting future projects in advanced development.”

Hawley released a statement of his own on the renewal:

“I’m thrilled that this expanded deal opens the door to new opportunities across all of Disney Entertainment Television,” said Hawley. “FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling. From the very beginning with Fargo, they’ve encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it leads. I’m grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth alongside our partners, cast, and crew as we begin the next chapter.”

Disney Television Studios President Eric Schrier also had this to say:

“I learned first-hand that Noah was a unique talent while we worked on Fargo at FX. He has gone on to make many of the best shows in television, and I couldn’t be more excited that Noah will continue his FX partnership and broaden it across Disney Entertainment Television.”

Eh the Warcraft movie wasn't that bad, I just wished it was a little more closer to canon but I did like how they handled Graka and Durotan. At least their deaths were more "cinematic" than just be taken by surprised by assassins.

The Horde side of the movie was the best side.

Okay Yoda. I don't spend my entire day thinking about Noah Hawley, I have better things to do.

I know.  You could be watching Step Brothers.  Or Warcraft.
Actually I would rather watch Warcraft (2016) over Step Brothers

Yes, lets keep the negative side of our passions to ourselves.

I really dislike the show, but even when we're joking with comments, hating on someone just cause of their creative output is not okay.

    I agree with this point.

No comment, I don't care what he smells like, he could smell like pumpkin spice and I will still hate his guts.
I mean you don't have to hate him.

Disliking his shows is more than fair, but hating the person seems a little extreme.

It's not like he killed someone.

Any use of "woke" to signify "bad writing" is an abuse of the term is it was originally conceived/adopted into the English language in the fashion that we are using it:

Quotechiefly US slang : aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/woke

It has since been contorted into a negative signifier of examples of the above...

Quotechiefly US slang, disapproving : politically liberal or progressive (as in matters of racial and social justice) especially in a way that is considered unreasonable or extreme

...and then further dumbed down by the internet to essentially mean "not straight white man."

If they think Alien is woke now because of Disney, they never were fans in the first place.
I think what people call woke is actually they are complaining about bad writing.

You either make a Ripley (a good written character) or you make a Wendy (a badly written character)

Which is one of the reasons I am genuinely interested in season two. I think season one has its problems for sure, and I think in general the writing and execution of its ideas needs to be better across the board, but conceptually I don't take issue with the Wendy/Alien relationship. I wish it was weirder and I wish that it played up their shared traits more than it does, but still, on paper it is an interesting start to something and I look forward to seeing how it inevitably crashes and burns.

Im a pretty big fan of the old darkhorse books from the early 90s. In the story Labrynth from 1994 Dr church was obsessed with using synthetic E-waves to turn the Alien into fawning puppies ( his own words also included petting zoo.......and it did not turn out OK.

I think there are 2 types of Alien fan.

Type A will get to that point in the story and know that this is going to turn out very badly.

Type B will get to that point in the story and groan about how woke it is and how Disney are turning the Alien into a pet.......

Okay but that is in Covenant not Prometheus

He was very much a perv in Prometheus. Look at his entire treatment of Shaw.

Covenant then builds on what Prometheus had established with his character and expands it outward exponentially.
Fine I'll concede on that point, but only with David

I stand corrected on the metaphor part, I guess I was thinking more of his silly puns like "I didn't think you had it in you.".

Quote from: Xenotaris on Nov 14, 2025, 07:58:46 PMWhat? Since when was Peter Weyland walking around barefooted and don't bring up when he was freshly awakened in cryo that doesn't count, everyone is naked or partially naked from cryo.

Did everyone else get feet washing scenes that the camera lingered on and emphasized?

Quote from: Xenotaris on Nov 14, 2025, 07:58:46 PMAlso point out the pervert in Prometheus. Don't say David, checking in on Shaw's dreams isn't pervy.

David watching Shaw dream is absolutely pervy.

If that isn't, then I guess Teng isn't either?
Okay the Foot one was on the cameraman, not the character himself.

I figured David was being scientific on his dream spying, out of intellectual curiosity since he is an android after all.

Teng wasn't watching any dreams, he was doing something with his hand. Also he is human, so he is a dumb pervert!

The the washing of the feet is important character wise, hence the "camera man" lingering on it. It plays like an inverted riff on this passage from the Bible:

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2013%3A1-17&version=NIV

Also, David is a pervert. Covenant is fundamentally about this very fact.

David can't "[do] something with his hand" so he compensates with his incredibly phallic creation.
