After being announced last October during the game’s eventful 10th Anniversary, a new retrospective video on the development and legacy of Alien: Isolation has just released on the AI and Games YouTube channel. This nearly two hour video, a project by Dr. Tommy Thompson, interviews a number of game developers involved in making the title.
The discussions chronicle the game from its early pitching phase to its enduring influence and legacy on the franchise. Some of the developers include creative director Alastair Hope, animation programmer Tobias Kleanthous, animator Simon Ridge, and designer Christiaan Jones.

We’ve been privileged to speak with a few of the individuals featured in the video, including programmer Andy Bray on our Alien: Isolation Retrospective Developer Interview, writer Andy Kelly who joined us for an Alien: Isolation live play, and modder Matt Filer who was part of our 10th Anniversary Retrospective Discussion Podcast.
This isn’t the first video from the AI and Games channel on Alien: Isolation, as episodes #15 and #50 took deep dives into the AI systems at play in the game.
