This post will contain major spoilers for Predator: Killer of Killers. The first animated anthology Predator film is out now on Hulu and Disney+. After the exclusive early theatrical screenings at the BeyondFest, the co-directors Dan Trachtenberg, Joshua Wassung and writer Micho Robert Rutare sat down for a Q&A. The footage is provided by Mike from Mike’s Monsters, who was at the premiere and is a longtime friend of AvP Galaxy, being one of the founding members of the AvP Galaxy Podcast.
Amongst the many details the creative team has revealed during the Q&A, some of them stand out when it comes to the production process. Dan Trachtenberg explained how at the earliest stages when the concept was being discussed with Joshua Wassung, that a series was being pitched, but then they wouldn’t be able to work with Steve Asbell and the same team over at 20th Century Studios which made them doubt that the series would be approved if it was pitched in that format.
Later, Joshua Wassung also explained how the whole production process, once they got the green light, took about 18 months from start to finish. When it came to the question of where they would like to see the sequel go next, Joshua Wassung said that he would like to continue the stories of the introduced characters, but at the same time, he would like to see new characters and time periods explored. The writer, Micho Robert Rutare, mentioned that he would like to see a future story explore the Predator against the Knights Templar.
Trachtenberg again mentioned that there were 3 projects that were planned after Prey – Predator: Killer of Killers, Badlands and an unnamed third project, which we’ve covered in an interview with Fangoria would include Naru. Starting from 19:10 in the video, Trachtenberg is purposefully vague in answering the implied question of interconnectivity of the different installments as well as the meaning of his Weyland-Yutani hat, with his short side tangent:
…I know you’re asking something larger, which is also true, but I can’t really say much about that…
Is that ‘something larger’ Naru’s reappearance, the inclusion of Weyland-Yutani in Badlands or possible considerations and plans for a future Alien vs. Predator film? We can’t be sure, but we’ll certainly get another piece of the puzzle with the release of Predator: Badlands. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.
A special thanks to Mike for recording the Q&A.

Thank you Dan for break the ice! May we see incredible designs soon for NON-animated live action predator films because I'm a massive fan of practical effects and live action HORROR films.
Oh hell yeah
There we have it, straight from Dan's mouth, for anyone that was worried about the portrayal of Predators in this being how he sees all aspects of all Predators: "[...]one corner of their culture[...]"
I am sure Dan has some ideas and plans in store for the Predator universe, whether on Naru, a potential AVP sometime in the future or other ideas. But he probably don't want (or can't) disclose them at this point.
This actually is a smart move, you don't want to prematurely spill the beans about any Predator cinematic universe before such a thing is a certainty. Take it one movie/show at a time to gradually build up the story (and of course there is the reality of the whole enterprise being contingent on box office returns).
You don't want to end up like Universal with their "Dark Universe" going down the drain before it got going, due to the box office and critical failure of Tom Cruise's "Mummy".
So, Dan the man just did an interview with Collider, as we all know... But did any of you catch the hat he is wearing...Shawscope/The Shaw brothers...Which was the largest distributor of Hong Kong films from the 1920s-2011. Shawscope made several reputable kung fu/martial arts films in the 60's/70s, similar to the spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone or Corbucci.
Films like the one-armed swordsmen play into that temple duel in KOK...So in short, the combat from those films probably inspired some elements that went into Killer of Killers, Prey, and maybe Badlands.
When you say Hellraiser, you are talking about cenobites right?

This was great, thank you Mikey! Three cool ideas.. Killer of killers.... Badlands.... And something else!?! Is he hinting at Prey 2? Or AVP!?
