Actually, I'm surprised that Alien Earth trailer has way more views than the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer

Huh? Jurassic World Rebirth's main trailer has 41 million views on Youtube, compared to 23 million for Alien: Earth (which is still great). (Universal account, FX account)

On Facebook, Rebirth's first trailer has 53 million views, while Earth's has 27 million. (Jurassic account, FX account)

On TikTok, Rebirth has 64 million, Earth has 24 million. (Jurassic World account, FX account)

Quote from: AlienatedPredator on Yesterday at 05:00:51 PMThe Jurassic franchise sequels/reboots/whatever are even lamer than Alien and people can tell.

For whatever it's worth, all three of them (Dominion included) grossed over a billion. The only thing that "people can tell" here is that they're going to keep flocking to these movies.

I happen to think that Rebirth looks way better than the previous three World (and previous four overall) films, in pretty much every regard. I'm looking forward to checking this one out.

Romulus created a TON of goodwill with the public.
Noah Hawley is fresh off a very well received Fargo season.
There is a novelty factor regarding an "Alien TV SERIES".
FX's last big budget production was the incredibly well received SHOGUN.

It's all lining up to be a gigantic hit for FX.

It's easy to forget on an AvP forum that there is a very, very big difference between the two in terms of general audience interest and popularity.

I am looking through the Weyland timeline and I don't see anything that's contradicted by what we know of Alien Earth so far.

Quote from: SM on Jun 08, 2025, 11:48:48 AMIt said Weyland solved climate change - in Alien Covenant Origins it was still an issue. They cured cancer - Amanda Ripley died of cancer.

The Weyland Timeline says that there is a cure for 98% of cancers. So Amanda Ripley and Wendy dying of cancer is possible. It just means that they got that 2% that isn't treatable.

As for global warming being solved. The Timeline puts that down as being resolved in 2016, meaning that by the time of the show its been over a 100 years for things to get worse; Progress is not a straight line. By the time of Alien Earth its no longer the "Weyland Century", and there are now 5 mega corporations ruling the earth, with the focus now being on synthetics and immortality, not regulating the climate.

Quote from: SM on Jun 08, 2025, 11:48:48 AMOne has to remember that the Weyland timeline was written from the perspective of Weyland Corp. Of course they're going to church things up and simplify things.

Very true. A good example of this would be where the Weyland timeline says that in 2070 the FDA approved MedPod for At-Home Use, with one dozen already made and tens of thousands on back order. Yet by the time Prometheus takes place in 2094 Shaw states that there only ever ended up being a dozen made.

Quote from: Still Collating... on Jun 09, 2025, 09:03:47 AMThere was absolutely no reference to Labyrinth in Romulus.
The only references were to Ripley in the shuttle, Black goo, Alien Isolation and the Cold Forge.

The mixup is probably between Blue from Cold Forge and Church from Labyrinth?

The only other media to reference Church again in recent time is actually Colony War.

Kane is on screen. Depending on the definition of 'reference' here 'cos every scene has references.

True, I forgot that, my bad!

Did anyone else notice the blade going up Morrows arm at the 1:10 mark? Dude is channeling Adam Jensen right there.  Pretty sure he killed those soldiers too.
