NECA Alien: Romulus Suspended Lab Xenomorph up for Pre-Order!

Continuing their Alien: Romulus line after the announcement of their last Big Chap speculative figure, NECA has just revealed a display piece from Alien: Romulus that fans were looking forward to. This deluxe figure features the deceased Big Chap, its body riddled with damage, and suspended from tubing through the acid carved hole it’s blood cut through into the lab.

Alien: Romulus – Deluxe Suspended Lab Xenomorph XX121 7″ Scale Action Figure
From Fede Alvarez’s hit 2024 film, Alien: Romulus, comes the return of the famous Xenomorph that started it all! After a brutal battle against the Weyland-Yutani security forces, the alien hangs suspended in the ceiling of the ship’s lab when its acid blood burns a hole through the floor… the very blood that gave scientists access to the DNA of the ultimate killing machine. This deluxe figure from NECA features posable wires to hang the maimed Xenomorph and includes a display piece of the acid-burned lab ceiling designed for mounting on your wall or ceiling. The figure also features an articulated jaw, sliding inner jaw and a wired tail. Packaged in a clear collectors’ display box, it’s sure to be the centerpiece of your Alien: Romulus collection!

The figure is currently up for pre-order on NECA’s website for $69.99

NECA is also offering an Alien Day Blind Box for $149, available for 24 hours only, which is unfortunately already sold out at the time of this reporting.

There's a translucent gloss paint by Citadel Paints called "'Ardcoat", but other miniatures paint companies probably have similar things.
I think hot glue (glue gun) works to and it comes off easily if you need to remove it.
Have u tried this? And if so could u post results

I have. This one's been entirely repainted with almost exclusively citadel paints, and the 'ardcoat varnish (2 coats) is visible on the cranial and shoulder areas.

If you meant strands of hanging slime, UHU glue is easiest and looks the best, although it's fragile. For a more solid version, you can heat and stretch hard clear plastic, affix the pieces with super glue or epoxy, then build up a "blend" with varnish or water effect - or use a UV resin if you're more confident.

I have not tried it on Aliens figures, no.

Ooo, I'm really not familiar with mini-painting, but the idea is that this would increase the depth?  I'll look into it, though I'd be nervous as a beginner to this kind of stuff.

Nice work! I saw a custom alien that was airbrushed to get the color scheme right and it looked like a hot toys figure only a NECA repaint! That is my ultimate goal

Sure! Here's a before pic (note the chipping on the teeth and silver on the gums):

And after I used the silver and black Gundam markers:

The black on the gums has a hint of purple, but it's good enough for me. I also colored in the chin bits.

To be totally fair, Big Chap went from "blasted out an airlock and torched by the shuttle engines" to "survived the engines at full burn, survived in the vacuum of space for 20 years, woke up and slaughtered an entire space station before being shot to death (which is something we knew could happen back in 1986)".

All things considered, I think he went down swinging and made a pretty good showing for himself.

I just picked up an Aliens brown warrior figure and some of the silver paint apps on the teeth and toes are chipped, so I was thinking of touching it up.

Does anyone have any paint recommendations? Brand or specific colors?

I was expecting the announcement to be the offspring but this is still a cool figure and I will most certainly be buying it lol!

I've yet to find the Romulus accessory set in the wild but today the 4/26 gods shined on me and I found it at a used record store! My collection is now complete until this suspended big chap drops!
