Animated Film Predator: Killer of Killers Announced, Including Details, Trailer & Poster!

20th Century Studios has just announced that the long-rumoured Predator animated film will be arriving on Hulu/Disney Plus on June 6th! The title is Predator: Killer of Killers (as previously rumoured) and was directed by Prey’s Dan Trachtenberg, alongside animation studios The Third Floor’s co-director Josh Wassung and was co-written with Micho Robert Rutare.

The announcement comes with a 2 minute long trailer, giving us a look at the eras that will be featured in the anthology, as well as a variety of different Predator designs! As Alien vs. Predator Galaxy previously reported, we’ll be seeing the Predator do battle against samurai, the Vikings and taking to the skies of World War 2 in ariel combat! Check out the trailer below.

Alongside the trailer, we also have the first poster for Predator: Killer of Killers and a synopsis and cast list (as posted exclusively by Bloody Disgusting) which sees Predators veteran Louis Ozawa return alongside Aliens alumni Michael Biehn!

Predator: Killer of Killers is a three-part animated anthology that showcases Yautja warriors hunting human prey across global history. It’ll premiere as a Hulu exclusive on June 6th, 2025. The voice cast includes Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, and Michael Biehn.

Here’s the official synopsis with all the glorious details:

“Predator: Killer of Killers, an original animated action-adventure film set in the Predator universe, will premiere June 6th, 2025, exclusively on Hulu. The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers.”

Animated Film Predator: Killer of Killers Announced, Including Details, Trailer & Poster!

According to Bloody Disgusting’s exclusive reveal, The Third Floor was responsible for the animation of Predator: Killer of Killers and was directly inspired by the animation style of Arcane.

“Predator: Killer of Killers marks The Third Floor’s first full-length feature, but they’re no rookies. As Trachtenberg notes, Wassung and his team have handled VFX for countless properties you’ve loved across Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, The Boys, Netflix Originals—the list continues. Many companies contributed to the film, but Wassung’s co-director tag speaks to Trachtenberg’s enthusiasm about working together, laying the groundwork for visual compositions that do not lack survivalist ferocity or intensity despite biased preconceptions about cartoons.”

Discussing why these particular eras were chosen, Dan Trachtenberg went into detail about the character arcs and the appeal of these eras.

“Most characters are dealing with generational [issues], trying to break a cycle. All the chapters are different genre-wise.” The frosty, fog-thick battlegrounds of 841 AD have a chill to them as this badass Viking death-dealer avenges her lineage while massacring her foes, yet the trailer footage for the American pilot segment looks much brighter and more adventure-centric. But, thematically, all segments are driven by a simple question: “Who would be a unique challenge for the Predator?” Time periods were chosen based on their trademark fighting capabilities and “cool” factor, from Japanese samurai choreography to WW2 airborne dogfights. The door is wide open to so many alternate possibilities, but Trachtenberg confirms Predator: Killer of Killers was created to stand alone, always as an anthology feature (versus, say, television episodes).

Head on over to Bloody Disgusting to check out their account of the footage they saw, as well as further comments from Dan Trachtenberg at a special preview event. Thanks to ace3g and BlackNoir for the links.

Quote from: SiL on May 02, 2025, 02:42:25 PMYeah the whole "The bad guy dies every time!" thing really wilfully ignores the fact that said bad guy wins multiple times throughout the movie before being defeated.

Jungle Hunter kills the entirety of Hopper's team, plus Dutch's team, plus Dillon. We see 3 of Hopper's men strung up; we can assume there's at least another three ("Where's the rest of his men?" "It's like they disappeared") by the size of Dutch's team. That's 12 kills -- 6 before the story starts and another six in the story.

And we're supposed to think Jungle Hunter isn't shit because Dutch gets lucky and is able to drop a log on his head?

City Hunter kills 4 people in the intro, 6 in the penthouse, plus Danny and King Willy, 5 gang members on the subway plus uncounted commuters, Jerry, 7 OWLF members including Keyes -- that's like 25 alone and we're supposed to think he's not intimidating because he died after being shot, dismembered, and then disembowelled?

The only time Predators look like they aren't shit is Predators. Every other movie does a fine job showing they're incredibly formidable.
To chain off of this, the movies are generally playing off of storytelling conventions where the Bad Guy loses, and if the Predator is the bad guy, then, welp.

But the thing is, on top of the Predators being formidable within the narrative, we're only seeing the stories where The Hero wins (because he's the hero and that's generally what heroes do), leading to significant survivorship bias. We're not seeing the likely very significant number of cases where the Predator cleans house and goes home - it's worth remembering that the Predators have managed to work their way into ancient humanity myths and folklore as spooky boogeymen, and that probably wouldn't be the case if they were getting murdered every single time they showed up.

Hell, even Predator 2 (well, pre-Prey) heavily implied that the Elder Predator had been to Earth at least once before, had his fun, and went home, evidenced by the flintlock pistol.

I don't have a problem with the predators dying in the solo movies, but it gets annoying in the AVP movies when they keep ending them with a tie.

What's the point of «Whoever wins, we lose!», if there is never an actual winner between the two species?

It should be predictable, its a major part of story telling, the protagonist defeats the antoginist. Sure some stories have the bad guy win at the end, but its generally the exception to the rule.

I would be fine with a film where the main predator character lives, but I have no issues if he doesn't.

I get the feeling they would rather die on the hunt than from natural causes. If they hunt long enough they will lose eventually. I mean all the predators seem to have been super succesful most of their lives until we see the hunt they die on.

What's this for? Is this a limited showing in theaters? Or a screening somewhere? Or are these just posters?

Just the posters Trachtenberg has up on his wall. Neat seeing them near each other. I'm sure a Badlands one will be going up soon now that that film has a poster as well.

Got ya, yeah definitely looks neat next to eachother. Also for Dan pretty cool trophies to have representing your creations.

just a fun thing I was thinking about; with the release of Killer of Killers and Badlands it'll be the first time since Predator 2 that there were as many Predator movies as Alien movies.

Quote from: RoguePred1987 on Apr 16, 2025, 02:06:25 PMcan anybody confirm they've heard this; I remember reading somewhere that while Killer of Killers won't have any direct connection to the other movies, there's a framing device with prisoners being transported somewhere?

QuoteSince Badlands is on the horizon, we tried to connect continuity dots. As per a cheeky and coy Trachtenberg: "There's so much cool stuff in this movie. It might even go into more than Badlands or—or it might not." There's also a framing device that looks oddly familiar to Nimrod Antal's Predators, with prisoners en route somewhere, but evidently that's just a coincidence. "It's different. You do not need to [rewatch] Predators." Predator: Killer of Killers is its own beast, themed around a throughline of courage and tenacity in the face of Yautja threats. "The movie is very much about the connection between the characters, as much as the stories themselves."

I hope so, but it doesn't really look like battle damage, more like his face is just built like that. Doesn't seem like there's space on his face for another pair of mandibles to sit, since the membranes/joints from the two he has go all the way up to his upper lip.
  11. Nightmare Asylum
I genuinely doubt that any Predator project – let alone this one — is going to directly allude to The Predator.

The Predator in the Samurai chapter probably just lost his upper mandibles in some earlier battle.

Love that we're getting an anthology of fun time periods, though I'm mixed on the designs. For the most part I like them; Pilot Pred has a bad blood vibe to him, and I definitely see the resemblance to Long Spear, with his cut dreads and covered eye, like others have mentioned. Viking Pred looks juiced enough to be a Hulk villain, kinda goofy at some angles but it'll work for me if he bodies dudes like its WWE. Samurai Pred though, I really don't like that he just has two mandibles. I'm sure its just stylized takes, but I have this nagging fear they're going to explain it with the 2019 film's DNA splicing angle. Surely I'm just paranoid. But I really wish we could have consistently on-model Predator heads again.

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to this.

Quote from: jacobo1122 on Apr 09, 2025, 02:19:12 PMBut I wonder why they are doing it in movie form, not as short show, since it is anthology. But maybe they have some nice way of tying all three stories together.

Mother narrating it all over again.  :P

Quote from: PAS on Apr 10, 2025, 05:47:47 PMAnd maybe something not being tailored for you doesn't automatically make it bad?

    I know, impossible.

I think if someone doesn't like that style of animation, it is indeed bad, to them at least.

Absolutely valid point. But I think people should be more conscious of actually talking with more consideration of the fact that it's their interpretation, and stop framing around their opinion = fact. It makes it harder to have actual decent conversations discussing those differences in opinion.
