Animated Film Predator: Killer of Killers Announced, Including Details, Trailer & Poster!

20th Century Studios has just announced that the long-rumoured Predator animated film will be arriving on Hulu/Disney Plus on June 6th! The title is Predator: Killer of Killers (as previously rumoured) and was directed by Prey’s Dan Trachtenberg, alongside animation studios The Third Floor’s co-director Josh Wassung and was co-written with Micho Robert Rutare.

The announcement comes with a 2 minute long trailer, giving us a look at the eras that will be featured in the anthology, as well as a variety of different Predator designs! As Alien vs. Predator Galaxy previously reported, we’ll be seeing the Predator do battle against samurai, the Vikings and taking to the skies of World War 2 in ariel combat! Check out the trailer below.

Alongside the trailer, we also have the first poster for Predator: Killer of Killers and a synopsis and cast list (as posted exclusively by Bloody Disgusting) which sees Predators veteran Louis Ozawa return alongside Aliens alumni Michael Biehn!

Predator: Killer of Killers is a three-part animated anthology that showcases Yautja warriors hunting human prey across global history. It’ll premiere as a Hulu exclusive on June 6th, 2025. The voice cast includes Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, and Michael Biehn.

Here’s the official synopsis with all the glorious details:

“Predator: Killer of Killers, an original animated action-adventure film set in the Predator universe, will premiere June 6th, 2025, exclusively on Hulu. The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers.”

Animated Film Predator: Killer of Killers Announced, Including Details, Trailer & Poster!

According to Bloody Disgusting’s exclusive reveal, The Third Floor was responsible for the animation of Predator: Killer of Killers and was directly inspired by the animation style of Arcane.

“Predator: Killer of Killers marks The Third Floor’s first full-length feature, but they’re no rookies. As Trachtenberg notes, Wassung and his team have handled VFX for countless properties you’ve loved across Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, The Boys, Netflix Originals—the list continues. Many companies contributed to the film, but Wassung’s co-director tag speaks to Trachtenberg’s enthusiasm about working together, laying the groundwork for visual compositions that do not lack survivalist ferocity or intensity despite biased preconceptions about cartoons.”

Discussing why these particular eras were chosen, Dan Trachtenberg went into detail about the character arcs and the appeal of these eras.

“Most characters are dealing with generational [issues], trying to break a cycle. All the chapters are different genre-wise.” The frosty, fog-thick battlegrounds of 841 AD have a chill to them as this badass Viking death-dealer avenges her lineage while massacring her foes, yet the trailer footage for the American pilot segment looks much brighter and more adventure-centric. But, thematically, all segments are driven by a simple question: “Who would be a unique challenge for the Predator?” Time periods were chosen based on their trademark fighting capabilities and “cool” factor, from Japanese samurai choreography to WW2 airborne dogfights. The door is wide open to so many alternate possibilities, but Trachtenberg confirms Predator: Killer of Killers was created to stand alone, always as an anthology feature (versus, say, television episodes).

Head on over to Bloody Disgusting to check out their account of the footage they saw, as well as further comments from Dan Trachtenberg at a special preview event. Thanks to ace3g and BlackNoir for the links.

just a fun thing I was thinking about; with the release of Killer of Killers, it'll be the first time since Predator 2 that there were as many Predator movies as Alien movies.

QuoteSince Badlands is on the horizon, we tried to connect continuity dots. As per a cheeky and coy Trachtenberg: "There's so much cool stuff in this movie. It might even go into more than Badlands or—or it might not." There's also a framing device that looks oddly familiar to Nimrod Antal's Predators, with prisoners en route somewhere, but evidently that's just a coincidence. "It's different. You do not need to [rewatch] Predators." Predator: Killer of Killers is its own beast, themed around a throughline of courage and tenacity in the face of Yautja threats. "The movie is very much about the connection between the characters, as much as the stories themselves."

(I actually quite like the [masked] look of the Predators Predators overall but their heads, especially Mr. Black's, needed to be scaled down a good 20% or so)

I think the unmasked Predator has a very casual look and is probably not quite equipped for hunting.

I hope so, but it doesn't really look like battle damage, more like his face is just built like that. Doesn't seem like there's space on his face for another pair of mandibles to sit, since the membranes/joints from the two he has go all the way up to his upper lip.
  6. Nightmare Asylum
I genuinely doubt that any Predator project – let alone this one — is going to directly allude to The Predator.

The Predator in the Samurai chapter probably just lost his upper mandibles in some earlier battle.

Love that we're getting an anthology of fun time periods, though I'm mixed on the designs. For the most part I like them; Pilot Pred has a bad blood vibe to him, and I definitely see the resemblance to Long Spear, with his cut dreads and covered eye, like others have mentioned. Viking Pred looks juiced enough to be a Hulk villain, kinda goofy at some angles but it'll work for me if he bodies dudes like its WWE. Samurai Pred though, I really don't like that he just has two mandibles. I'm sure its just stylized takes, but I have this nagging fear they're going to explain it with the 2019 film's DNA splicing angle. Surely I'm just paranoid. But I really wish we could have consistently on-model Predator heads again.

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to this.

Quote from: jacobo1122 on Apr 09, 2025, 02:19:12 PMBut I wonder why they are doing it in movie form, not as short show, since it is anthology. But maybe they have some nice way of tying all three stories together.

Mother narrating it all over again.  :P

    I know, impossible.

I think if someone doesn't like that style of animation, it is indeed bad, to them at least.

Absolutely valid point. But I think people should be more conscious of actually talking with more consideration of the fact that it's their interpretation, and stop framing around their opinion = fact. It makes it harder to have actual decent conversations discussing those differences in opinion.

Some of that one will be on the ground. We see the pilot receiving his draft notice and a car driving next to a field of crops. But the real question is if any of the Predator action will happen on the ground.

    Yeah that's what I meant  ;)

This shot gives me the impression that there might be some kind of last stand on the ground... unless perhaps this is from earlier in the short, with this guy firing at the ship?

Their supposed to be technologically armored up space beasts yet the last three movies have them running around in underwear. Also need to FINALLY see some female warriors already.  :'(

Feral might have less armor but The Predator featured both an armored up Fugitive and the Assassin who didn't need the armor on account of the exoskeleton. And before that the Supers and Captured Predators all featured the same levels of armor.

My initial reaction was good. Further thinking makes me a little cautious. None of the predators look like the classic style predator, and I'm reminded of Concrete Jungle in general style.
Hopefully it'll be great, but it's feeling more like the comic books than the rest of the movies right now.
  14. RoguePred1987
I think Bloody-Disgusting said the press at the event was shown the entire Vikings segment. But I'm wondering if the three segments will be separated in the three-act structure or if maybe they'll move back and forth.
  15. skhellter
Prey was the first predator movie since the first to even bother with having the pred fitting into the role of local legends (with Naru's narration at the start, how she thinks it's a monster, then the end credit art having it turn into a story that is passed down to generations)

as far as these preds fitting into myths and stories...

the viking one is implied by the older lady to have been visiting for years - (she only talks bout the monster to the kid because he's "old enough now"..) (probably sticking to terrain for ages like jungle hunter)

viking - grendel style story? will probably fit an epic poem?
samurai - could fit the local oni role.
WW2 - looks like they'll be inspired by Foo Fighter sightings???

It looks like that cheap Star Wars cartoon Disney shoveled out. Clone Wars or Rebel Farts or whatever Funko Pop crap had Collider clapping like seals back in the day.

    Absolutely hideous.

    I know, impossible.

exactly. The animation may look good to some but to me that style looks bad.

I don't know anything about tailoring but like I said, I would of preferred a more old school art style, maybe something a bit more hand drawn, something darker and grittier that matches the tone of Predator.

Quote from: Preydator on Apr 10, 2025, 01:05:08 PMCome on "bad animation" is downright untrue here. If we were talking about Invincible-type animation I'd probably be agreeing with you but here? haha I hear you and I suppose animation like art is in the eye of the beholder. Being that I'm not necessarily a big animation film guy per se and growing up in the 90's I would of preferred a more old school art style, maybe something a bit more hand drawn, something darker and grittier that matches the tone of at least how I see Predator. Not this vibrant cartoony and laggy video game style artform. But that's just me. Something like the Spawn animated film or Batman Mask of Phantasm or some of the animes from the past like The Perfect Blue, which specifically I think would of went perfect for Predator.

I mean as a diehard Predator fan I have zero excitement for this animation unfortunately as it literally to me does not feel like its related to Predator at all.

Quote from: BigDaddyJohn on Apr 10, 2025, 02:54:08 PMI wouldn't be excited for half of that on live action.

    Absolutely agreed with this.
  19. BigDaddyJohn
I'm accepting what we're seeing here because of the more fanciful animation format, and I'm very excited for it. Go nuts.

I wouldn't be excited for half of that on live action.
  20. LSL
I liked the trailer, I liked that they didn't tone down the violence, but I didn't like the design of any of the predators, just a bit of the big guy's mask. This style of animation is all the rage at the moment, so I can live with it even though it's not the style I would choose if I were in charge of the project. I also wonder if they didn't use up all their cards at once. These are three proposals that could result in three different films.
  21. Preydator
