While we wait for news on Dan Trachtenberg’s two new upcoming Predator projects this year, it seems that we’re not the only ones who know very little about any possible continuation of Trachtenberg’s hugely successful revitalization of the Predator franchise. Amber Midthunder, Prey’s very own Naru, is currently on the press rounds for her recently released action flick Novocaine, where she was asked by Collider about her potential return to the Predator franchise.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what’s happening. [Laughs] I genuinely don’t. I also want to do another one. I would be happy to do another one. I love Dan Trachtenberg with my whole heart. I love that world, I love that character, and I think that there’s some fun ideas out there that I’ve heard that are very cool. I’m really excited. He obviously has Badlands coming out this year, so I’m really excited to see that. Whatever Dan does, I will always be his fan.”
News regarding any sequel to Prey has been generally non-existent. While we’re aware of Predator: Badlands and an upcoming animated Predator feature, the last we heard about Prey 2 so when Badlands was first announced, and that was only a comment that a sequel was still in development.
Since that successful relaunch, 20th Century is looking to not just move forward with another film but expand on a universe with Trachtenberg spearheading it. Sources say while it is still in early development, a Prey 2 is still in the works that would return to the films original setting and with the films star, Amber Midthunder, potentially returning. Sources stress no talent is attached to that film but the interesting element is that even though there has been seven films featuring the infamous alien, there has never been an instance where the star of a previous film has returned to reprise their role.
Would you like to see Naru return? Predator: Badlands is currently slated to hit big screens on November 7th 2025 and the animated Predator feature is expected to release before that. Thanks to Preydator for the link.
