Last week a sizable package arrived at our US office from FX Networks, the contents of which we haven’t been able to share with you until this morning. Inside was a rugged Weyland-Yutani branded case, with ‘Top Secret’ labeled over the lid.
After releasing the latches, I opened the crate to find a number of Alien: Earth branded pieces of swag, a series advert card, and a note from the Prodigy corporation.
Check out some images below of the unboxing.
On the back of the series key art card was a message:
We hope you enjoy these recovered items from the USCSS Maginot, compliments of the Prodigy Corporation and FX.
This package contains a curated collection of items inspired by Alien: Earth and the ominous wreckage of a Weyland-Yutani vessel that has made landfall on Earth. We’re excited to give you an exclusive first look at the world of the series before its debut this summer.
WHATS INSIDE
Weyland-Yutani Branded Pelican Case, Breakaway Cat Collar + Tag, Alien: Earth Branded Playing Cards, Alien: Earth Branded Mug, USCSS Maginot Branded Hat, A Flash Drive Containing Five Unreleased Videos.
We encourage you to watch the videos closely and share them with your audience to unlock the many easter eggs hidden amongst the footage.
This is just the beginning. The journey continues with a USCSS Maginot wreckage site activation at SXSW, where fans can immerse themselves further in the world of FX’s Alien: Earth.
Thank you for being part of our first wave of explorers.
Stream FX’s Alien: Earth this summer on Hulu.
And on another note from the Prodigy Corporation was the following message:
The enclosed case was recovered from a recently crashed Weyland-Yutani vessel, please inspect all elements and report your findings. We suspect there is important information pertaining to Weyland-Yutani’s Deep Space Programs that could be of use to the corporation. Files on the data drive may offer clues to the ship’s mission.
Currently the wreckage site is unstable. However, Prodigy Corporation teams are working to secure the area. We expect to have containment by the evening of March 7th. At that time, representatives will inspect the site and see what else can be recovered. It can be found at 30°15’59″N, 97°44’24″W.
Prodigy Corporation appreciates your compliance and discretion in this highly sensitive matter.
Signed,
PRODIGY CORPORATION
It seems the marketing push for Alien: Earth starts now, and leading into this weekend with their SXSW event. It’s really cool to see this fan outreach and viral marketing from FX, and it’s certainly sparked our curiosity for what’s in store for us in the coming months.
Included in the items was a USB drive containing five short videos taken aboard the USCSS Maginot ship. These are from the perspective of a ‘cat cam’ affixed to the collar of the crew’s feline companion. I believe this is our first live action ship’s cat seen since Jonesy. The cat explores the ship and interacts with the crew. Clues and easter eggs are there for keen eyes and ears.
I recorded an unboxing of the hefty briefcase, going through the different items included within. After that, Aaron ‘Corporal Hicks’ Percival joined me to watch the new viral short videos to see what we could spot aboard the ship before disaster struck. Check out the video below!
Here are the five individual clips for you to dig into yourselves. What easter eggs can you find that we might’ve missed?
This evening we’re heading off to Austin, Texas to check out the Maginot “Crash Site” for ourselves so watch our social media for livestreams, photos, and more coverage!
