AvP Galaxy’s Alien: Earth Swag Crate Unboxing & Viral Video Reaction!

Last week a sizable package arrived at our US office from FX Networks, the contents of which we haven’t been able to share with you until this morning. Inside was a rugged Weyland-Yutani branded case, with ‘Top Secret’ labeled over the lid.

After releasing the latches, I opened the crate to find a number of Alien: Earth branded pieces of swag, a series advert card, and a note from the Prodigy corporation.

Check out some images below of the unboxing.

On the back of the series key art card was a message:

AvP Galaxy's Alien: Earth Swag Crate Unboxing & Viral Video Reaction!

We hope you enjoy these recovered items from the USCSS Maginot, compliments of the Prodigy Corporation and FX.

This package contains a curated collection of items inspired by Alien: Earth and the ominous wreckage of a Weyland-Yutani vessel that has made landfall on Earth. We’re excited to give you an exclusive first look at the world of the series before its debut this summer.

WHATS INSIDE

Weyland-Yutani Branded Pelican Case, Breakaway Cat Collar + Tag, Alien: Earth Branded Playing Cards, Alien: Earth Branded Mug, USCSS Maginot Branded Hat, A Flash Drive Containing Five Unreleased Videos.

We encourage you to watch the videos closely and share them with your audience to unlock the many easter eggs hidden amongst the footage.

This is just the beginning. The journey continues with a USCSS Maginot wreckage site activation at SXSW, where fans can immerse themselves further in the world of FX’s Alien: Earth.

Thank you for being part of our first wave of explorers.
Stream FX’s Alien: Earth this summer on Hulu.

And on another note from the Prodigy Corporation was the following message:

AvP Galaxy's Alien: Earth Swag Crate Unboxing & Viral Video Reaction!

The enclosed case was recovered from a recently crashed Weyland-Yutani vessel, please inspect all elements and report your findings. We suspect there is important information pertaining to Weyland-Yutani’s Deep Space Programs that could be of use to the corporation. Files on the data drive may offer clues to the ship’s mission.

Currently the wreckage site is unstable. However, Prodigy Corporation teams are working to secure the area. We expect to have containment by the evening of March 7th. At that time, representatives will inspect the site and see what else can be recovered. It can be found at 30°15’59″N, 97°44’24″W.

Prodigy Corporation appreciates your compliance and discretion in this highly sensitive matter.

Signed,
PRODIGY CORPORATION

It seems the marketing push for Alien: Earth starts now, and leading into this weekend with their SXSW event. It’s really cool to see this fan outreach and viral marketing from FX, and it’s certainly sparked our curiosity for what’s in store for us in the coming months.

Included in the items was a USB drive containing five short videos taken aboard the USCSS Maginot ship. These are from the perspective of a ‘cat cam’ affixed to the collar of the crew’s feline companion. I believe this is our first live action ship’s cat seen since Jonesy. The cat explores the ship and interacts with the crew. Clues and easter eggs are there for keen eyes and ears.

I recorded an unboxing of the hefty briefcase, going through the different items included within. After that, Aaron ‘Corporal Hicks’ Percival joined me to watch the new viral short videos to see what we could spot aboard the ship before disaster struck. Check out the video below!

Here are the five individual clips for you to dig into yourselves. What easter eggs can you find that we might’ve missed?

This evening we’re heading off to Austin, Texas to check out the Maginot “Crash Site” for ourselves so watch our social media for livestreams, photos, and more coverage!

You gotta go back for the cat.

which is what I wanted to do.
until I suddenly came to a junction in the hallway with two doors.

I'm starting to imagine the cat has some synth or bio tech control added to it.
The cat I think triggers the read out of the priority one message

Think the whole Special order & obtaining the Xenomorph is a synth plot anyway. The end

Quote from: Corporal Hicks on Mar 07, 2025, 06:37:17 AMI also love the return to viral marketing. I really hope this is something they maintain and keep up until the first episode is dropped.

The entire "confidential case and secret documents" concept made me realize that since 2012 included, we're just seeing an incredible amount of high-quality viral promotion, often with some intradiegetic value.
It all started with the Prometheus shorts, fictional Weyland Corp website, and little IRL stunts like the Paris ghost subway station, then Alien: Covenant was blessed with a similar treatment - to the point where one could argue most shorts are a fundamental part of the story, particularly The Last Supper and The Crossing, despite being off-movie -, and then Alien: Romulus had the VHS tape and facehuggers colonizing IRL New York.
Like, we know all of this, but I just realized the other night that the high concept marketing just doesn't stop since thirteen years, we are so lucky to have all of this content and events, it's so fun and creative.
And the confidential case and crash site event are the current peak. We're likely never going to see something better than this kind of performance (or maybe we will?).

I just have one thing to say "Gin Rummy"  ;D Great video guys! Loved Ridge's Gorman reference just before watching the vids. I catch myself doing that a lot too. Definitely need to read Forever War and I like this new world building that's going on. Viva la marketing!!!
  5. Corporal Hicks
I hadn't realized the cast in the shorts were from the show as well. According to IMDB, Morrow is in all 8 episodes, so I wonder if we'll be seeing more footage like this, or flashbacks to the Maginot across the entire series?

I also love the return to viral marketing. I really hope this is something they maintain and keep up until the first episode is dropped.

Just in case I'm right gonna go with spoilers...
    Spoiler
Going to take a guess and say the cat steps on some controls, which lets loose the creatures and causes the crash. A very on brand thing for a cat to do.

    'Member the orange tabby?

    'Member the "Arcturian poontang" exchange?

'Member the sounds the computers made?

    'Member the MU/TH/UR room?

    'Member Special Order 937?

...That's about all I got from these vids.

Could, theoretically, though I can't imagine the end result would be all that different from the dog/ox Alien from Alien 3 (barring any changes that would need to be taken into account for this show's own visual style, of course).

But then, I'm not sure if a sheep would yield a totally different end result either, playing by Alien 3's rules...

Vincent Ward rules, however? That one's quite a bit different. :D

    Spoiler
From the looks of things, Hicks and Ridge Top are now involved in the corporation's machinations.

It could be that they have to be on their guard from now on.

Be careful that the companys competitors don't come knocking on your door in the near future to get information.

    Cool.

What a nice gesture from FX and Fox.

The case looks really high quality.

Nice idea with the USB stick too.

Even if the design of the xenos shown so far is up for discussion, I'm excited
to see how the series turns out.

Just dug through all of the written and video materials. Honestly, I'm really loving all of this. The footage is only viral stuff, of course, but it seems to have been shot on the actual Maginot set, and the production value here is night and day compared to the janky digital commercials we've been getting. It all honestly looks really, really good. The idea of a cat cam (even if it's a bit on the nose with a cat that looks just like Jonesy) is also a really fun POV for this viral stuff.

The Arcturus back and forth got a good laugh out of me. Love seeing the era-appropriate WY logo on the merch, though strangely the Aliens-era version is being used in the viral clips... I wonder if the idea now is that both logos were used concurrently (like how NASA has two different logos in the real world today)?

The MU/TH/UR screen is emphasizing specimenS, plural, heavily, so I really can't wait to see what else other than the Alien and that little flying bugger is on this ship. Loved seeing the cat getting angry and freaking out in the specimen room, and the question about whether one of the things they're studying is flora or fauna is super interesting...

This has been the coolest batch of marketing materials for this show so far, by far. Going to watch the AVPG video breaking it all down now!

Also, based on the text of the written note, it really seems like tomorrow night is when the first proper trailer is going to drop.

WE HAVE A CAT IN THE MUTHUR ROOM.

I REPEAT WE HAVE A CAT IN THE MUTHUR ROOM.

    Arcturus referenced...

that is a really fun logo for a corp.
very "cool 90's record label" in a way.

Really great to see FX reaching out to you and sharing all of this.  The box itself is actually kickass, looks like some money went into it!  I think even though the videos themselves are pretty short, they help set some of the tone.  Loved the "cat cam"  :D
