NECA Announces Alien: Romulus Ultimate Xenomorph XX121 Figure!

After their popular first two releases for Alien: Romulus with the Scorched Xenomorph and an accessory set, it seems NECA has more in store for us from the film.

Just announced for “Facehugger Friday” via their social media, we have a new Xenomorph figure on the way: the Ultimate Xenomorph XX121 figure! Essentially this is an awakened variation of the fossilized classic “Big Chap” Alien we see in the film.

Check out some images of the new figure below:

And here’s NECA’s description for the release:

From Fede Alvarez’s hit 2024 film, Alien: Romulus, comes the return of the famous Xenomorph that started it all! Roughly two decades after the events that occurred on the Nostromo, Xenomorph XX121 awakens to ravage more horror on the Romulus ship. Based on unreleased scenes from the film, this fully articulated concept action figure from NECA depicts the alien before its battle against the Weyland-Yutani security forces. After an intense firefight resulting in the alien’s demise, its acid blood burns a hole through the floor, suspending the alien in the ceiling of the ship’s lab.

This 7-inch scale Ultimate Xenomorph XX121 action figure features an articulated jaw, sliding inner jaw, and wired tail for posing. Accessories include multiple interchangeable hands, facehugger, and chestburster. Comes in collector-friendly window box packaging with opening front flap.

The wording above is interesting in that it implies deleted scenes where we actually see Big Chap during his rampage on the station before ultimately being taken out. As far as we know, however, no such scenes were filmed.

It’s really nice to finally be getting an entirely new Big Chap sculpt from NECA, rather than another retooling of their older Big Chap figures. The figure also includes interchangeable hands and facehugger & chestburster accessories.

The Ultimate Xenomorph XX121 figure is scheduled to ship in Q3 of this year. You can currently pre-order the figure on NECA’s website or on Big Bad Toy Store.

The Neca Alien Romulus Scorched is an impressive looking figure. However on all three of my copies I bought from Walmart, they all have stress markes or cracks in the tail even before I opened the figure. The tail is entirely too rigid to be a bendable tail. Even without bending it, the way it is folded in the packaging has caused stress or breakage on the tail before it's even opened.

When returning mine I looked at the remaining stock and sure enough it was on the other 4 as well. Just another friendly warning to know this before purchasing one even though you have heard about the tail issues already I'm sure by now. For those who don't have a break, I guarantee you have at least several stress marks on the middle tail. Just be careful and put a mug of water in the microwave for 4 minutes and dip the tail in for 20 seconds before posing.

In the film itself, this may not have been so noticeable, but with the new figure, it is clear.
The design of the "new" Big Chap doesn't fit.
The tail is different, the head is different.
    Yes, that's called nitpicking. :)
I prefer the old Big Chap version from NECA which is not true to the film either,
but looks more like Big Chap than the new design.

I agree with @Xeno_DUD246, this design in my opinion should have been what we got in some movie. The reason the isolation drone has digitigrade legs though is typically b/c we would be seeing it walk more where as the xenomorph we have here would typically hide and sneak attack.
  4. Xeno_DUD246
I much prefer the elongated limbs over the digitigrade legs we typically see but I guess it all depends on the situation. If you want to slowly stalking creature this is it, but if u want to see a xenomorph chase scene digitigrade is prob the way to go seeing as how it would be kinda weird to see this creature run😬

After a lot of side by side comparison... I like this version of the original Xeno much better than the ones that came before. I particularly like the shape of the head and the longer body. I find the 'face' and jaw line much more to my liking... And I love the way the back of the dome is all one piece.
  6. Cosmic Incubation
I'm a big fan of the newly revealed Big Chap figure.

Pretty sure I like it much more than the Ultimate Big Chap (but I was never super crazy about that one in the first place).

I've got a shelf full of Big Chaps that I can't wait to add this to though!
  7. Miserysco
Neca has become a joke for claiming "screen accuracy" for the longest time. They couldn't even get the COVENANT version right. The poster and film clearly have straight teeth that come together. But decided to use the same mouth and jaw pallet molds of every single version before giving it the mouth that doesn't close and align right.

I recently got the neca scorched alien direct from them and it's an incredible  figure. I've preordered this figure as you can't have too many xenos.

I never knew of any filmed scenes of the big chap that were deleted but they do a romulus prequel comic that does show what happened. Maybe he is based off that.? That was an enjoyable read.
  9. Still Collating...
The depth of the details looks impressive. The head still looks a bit weird, but it isn't bad. We get a good look at the neck articulation, it seems there is going to be some range. Though none at the back unless you cut the back spike out since it doesn't seem like a detachable thing anymore. We have articulation at the base of the neck, but I'm not sure we have any at the base of the head anymore. Or it's extremely well hidden.  The Alien looks like it will be in scale with the older Neca Aliens, it is smaller than Scorched, thankfully. This one I might actually get. Depending on reviews.
  10. Varia31
Oh man, I own the Ultimate Big Chap, but I may have to go for this. It's a good looking new mold since it seems like they've been recycling the same one for so long. Perhaps it could be a potential replacement. I'm a sucker for good Big Chap figures.
I'm still waiting on my Scorched from BigBadToyStore however... I don't know what's taking it so dang long.
  11. Sabres21768
Well, I've gone ahead and pre-ordered 3 of them.

I'll have to customize one into the hanging dead Big Chap.

Quote from: solace97 on Mar 01, 2025, 06:06:15 PMI would like to see NECA do a figure that is more like the Mafex alien. That thing is so freaking accurate

Absolutely nothing beats the ARTFX Big Chap for accuracy.

The other thing about this figure is that NECA usually uses scans or files of cg creatures when making their figures.

So, this new look may actually be from some deleted scenes in the movie.

No way I order anything from NECA ever again. Ordered my Romulus Scorched over half a year ago and it's still not with me despite multiple communications with customer service.
  13. Yuppers
Ok, what? Yeah I understand if these are in limited supply, but ffs would they at least present the offspring instead of a real modestly alternative version of the original Bigchap with his electrified scar or whatever. This really doesn't bring much to the table.
