Alien: Romulus Receives Oscar Nomination For Best Visual Effects

Continuing on from their successful theatrical run, and recently topping the Disney+ movie charts at #1 worldwide, we’re greeted with the reveal that Alien: Romulus and their crew; Eric Barba, Nelson Sepulveda-Fauser, Daniel Macarin and Shane Mahan, have received an Academy Award Nomination for Best Visual Effects at the Oscars!

Amongst the nominations are also the films – Better Man, Dune: Part Two, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Wicked.

    Maybe half of the people didn't like the film, which is understandable. But respect and deserved this nomination is. It looked so fantastic and real. You could almost touch it. With that budget, amazing work.

    My cousins were in awe and speaking praise when they just saw it on streaming for the first time. There were totally positively surprised :)

    Well deserved. Romulus is proof that You don't need bloated budget for your movie to look stunning. And it shows the power of practical effects. Only that damn Ash spoils the impression a little.

    If a fortune teller told me in 2023 the next Alien movie would break $100m at the US box office, crack $350m worldwide, and be nominated for an Oscar, I would have told them they're smoking crack.
