One of the most appreciated elements of Alien: Romulus among fans and audiences was the retro ‘lo-fi sci-fi’ tech on display in the film.
Artist Jason Forrest Hogg (@nervouscircuit) recently posted a trove of behind the scenes images and videos of the visuals we caught glimpses of during the film.
Hogg lead the creative team at LOGAN in designing the computer UI interfaces of the film, as well as elements of the opening titles.
As Creative Lead for screen UI, I led the design and animation teams to develop every on-screen graphic and device seen throughout the film. Our goal was to faithfully preserve the nostalgic CRT/analog aesthetic that defines the original, while weaving in subtle elements that hint at the evolution seen in later films. From interface logic to data-driven storytelling, every pixel served a purpose. Immersing myself in the rich lore of the Alien universe, I aimed to honor its legacy with thoughtful, story-driven design decisions.
Check out the isolated opening sequence animations for the Echo Probe below:
Hogg also posted a demo reel showcasing a compilation of the computer designs on display throughout Romulus:
We also have a better look at loads of other interface screen animations from various sequences of the film, including from Corbelan, Rooks lab, the cryogenic storage, and more:
The team additionally put together the glitchy 20th Century Studios and Scott Free logos seen during the films opening, as well as the Alien: Romulus tittle animation. Head on over to Jason Forrest Hogg’s website to see everything.

like a half life headcrab then??? the script might provide more details, whenever it gets released.
Better get over to Xenopedia. I might be some time.
Controlling him like a parasite? One of the ant-decapitating wasps that turn their hosts in zombies.
Anyway, I did find this brief moment in the deleted/extended scenes interesting. A facehugger attached the back of someone's head?? Perhaps chewing of their brains? Not sure what the idea was but it's a disturbing image (albeit it has unfinished effects)

I kinda missed seeing the Egg in this (they have an artificial egg in the earlier draft that's also kinda different), but I do love the prop here! It makes sense with them only re-engineering the hugger itself, not the actual egg, that they'd look at some other kind of containment and once I learnt about scientists actually working on 3d printing organs and etc, I was all aboard with this.

Not sure whose account this actually came from, RidgeTop sent it me. Looks like a stunt double to me, rather than Cailee, but that could just be the picture quality.
