After seeing the very first previews for Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth at some of the openings for Alien: Romulus which was later released on FX Networks’ YouTube channel and the recent short footage that has been circulating from the recent Disney+ preview event in Brazil, we now finally have a longer teaser released.
The official poster for the series has also been released:
The most important piece of information is that we have a conclusive date when this series takes place. It is indeed set in 2120, two years before Alien and we can expect the series to air on Hulu in the summer of 2025. The soundscape of the teaser is very reminiscent of the original trailer for Alien. The tagline, along with the narration style unexpectedly evokes that infamous Alien 3 teaser trailer (On Earth, everyone can hear you scream).
The VFX overlay was very VCR inspired which gives more credence to Noah’s previous statements about preferring the Low-Fi Sci-Fi aesthetics of the films.
In the ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ jump cuts, we see an Alien egg opening, a frightened and screaming person, but also what seems to be an eye of an animal such as a cow, sheep or goat. Does this mean we can expect the first on screen appearance of Aliens form animal hosts since Alien 3? Only time will tell!
