As the release date for the upcoming VR game, Alien: Rogue Incursion gets closer and closer until the 19th of December, we finally get to see a bit more of the gameplay and story setup in the new story trailer for the game:
Previous footage was captured on PC VR, which makes this the first sneak peak as to how the game will look on the PS VR2 which still showcases the effective lighting and dark, moody atmosphere the game will present. From the trailer we see Zula and Davis 01 crash land on the planet LV-354, Purdan in search of her former squadmate Benjamin Carver. We see a bit of the dark and snowy planet environment, more hive secretions inside and dialogue from multiple as of yet unknown characters.
Some nefarious experiments with these creatures seems to be taking place at this facility. Another standout is per the new title image we’ve received for the trailer, along with the short glimpse of multiple Aliens with what seems to be crests at 0:35 in the trailer. Is that a Praetorian, an Aliens: Colonial Marines styled Spitter, an Aliens: Fireteam Elite crested Prowler or an original creation? Only time will tell.
Update: Playstation has released a blog post that dives in deeper behind the scenes into the making of the trailer. One major reveal is that it seems that we will be dealing with different types of Aliens compared to what we’ve seen before:
Zula has seen a lot in her storied career, but she—and the player —will discover that the Xenomorphs at Castor’s Cradle are tougher, faster, and more unpredictable than what she has encountered. They are, in a word, evolved.
The other piece of good news is that the game has officially gone gold, at least on the PS VR2. We don’t have any information about the Steam VR version’s readiness, though we can suspect that it’s still on track for the release on the 19th of December, 2024, but we’re reminded that the standalone Meta Quest 3 version has been delayed for early 2025.
Aliens vs. Predator Galaxy recently had the opportunity to check out a demo build of the game, with RidgeTop providing detailed hands-on impressions with some recorded gameplay.
Alien: Rogue Incursion is currently available for pre-order on Meta VR, PlayStation VR, and Steam VR on December 19th.
