First Footage From Alien: Earth Shown in Disney+ Preview!

It seems like the time has finally come when Noah Hawley’s FX Alien series starts to be revealed! Recently at a Disney D23 event in Brazil some new key art and a short teaser were shown for the upcoming series.

We figured it wouldn’t be long after this presentation when we might see something and it wasn’t! A new preview compilation for upcoming Disney+ Series was shared to X by Feature First, and included in the video is our first look at footage from Alien: Earth! Check it out below!

It’s pretty brief, but we get an establishing shot of canyon, followed by a look inside the very Nostromo-looking spaceship, the USCSS Maginot. Also seen is a group emerging from the water next to a cave, as well as a close-up of our protagonist Wendy played by Sydney Chandler.

A Xenomorph is seen but it’s the same clip we saw of it with the initial teaser. During the clip there is a voiceover which says:

“This ship collected specimens from a faraway moon. Monsters.”

This thing was being worked on before the merger. From what I understand the basic plot details haven't changed. FX and 20th Century may have Disney oversight, but they still maintain some autonomy.

I cant imagine it being a "total flop". There are a lot of big players involved in the production of this show and I'd imagine FX has a lot riding on the success of this show in terms of future seasons, merchandizing and network acclaim. They have also proven that their original series often produce a high level product, E.g. Shogun, Fargo, The Bear etc.

I second that. I really hope we see a Giger-esque, bio-mechanical design again in Earth. It would be such a disappointment if they revert back to the fleshy 'pumpkinhead' aliens we got from Resurrection up until Requiem. While the design for Covenant was great and worked within the film's context, it's not something I'd like to see in Earth.

I absolutely loved the Xeno designs in Romulus. They were very Giger-esque and bio-mechanical, which has been missing from their design for far too long, yet they also had their own unique twists. The way they were filmed in Romulus was great, but it left me wanting to see some more shots of them.

Yes @BigDaddyJohn that's what I meant not that he looked bad I just didn't think they rlly shot any of the xenos right except for the offspring which is imo offensive b/c all the marketing makes you think "oh yeah time to watch a xeno in the best way possible!" But then all it gives you are shots of his head and him just crawling around.

Also I hope they do the xeno design correctly on this show! PLS GOD PLS!🙏 just make it look like the original or isolation stompy just not whatever the hell they were trying to do in resurrection and Romulus design was almost good but too many flaws. And when was the last time we've seen a xenomorph actually stand next to a human!?!?

I love Scorched's design in Romulus, I don't really like how they shot it mostly. I hope there they nail it.

Quote from: Nightmare Asylum on Nov 15, 2024, 03:43:18 PMI dunno... Like, I guess they could, but Predator isn't really something I see capable of supporting an episodic narrative like that without drastically changing the formula into something that's pretty distinctly not Predator (see, The Predator). I think anthology is a more appropriate route for this franchise, like the animated film we have coming next year.

I'm not so sure; when I think of 'Predator 2' with the lead following/on the trail of whatever is stalking /killing people, with that sort of cat/mouse challenge; I could see that working in an episodic format 😊

I think something like Monarch, but with OWLF tracking down a small number of Predators across 10 episodes would work perfectly.

Quote from: azamultic on Nov 12, 2024, 07:05:52 PMGuys I am kind of fall of from the news on Aline franchise, was there a rumor that this series were supposed to be prequel to Aliens, about what happened on Hadley's Hope colony? Or am I totally mistaken something?

That was never a rumor in regards to this show (or anything else, as far as I'm aware).
Thank you for your response, I guess it's my personal Mandela effect  ;D

I think a series similar to P2 could work. Start out showing detectives investigating a series of murders suspecting a new serial killer etc. But it's really a Pred. Have it build suspense throughout until the big reveal.

One thing I've always thought would work well is a Pred v Pred type scenario. Like a Rogue Pred or a Bad Blood done correctly. IE - One escapes/goes berserk and crash lands on Earth (naturally!). And then there's a team investigating the crime scenes/murders left by Rogue Pred - but a clean up Pred is dispatched to take down the rogue. So you see a Pred being stalked by police/army who are being followed by 'Pred 2' to clean up the mess, if that makes sense?

You could have some interesting interactions with it, too, IMO. So for example, you see bodies strung up, blood everywhere etc. and a police/Army guy looking panicked, shook up thinking WTF and he's tasked with investigating the disturbance/bodies. He walks in, shaking, gun raised absolutely bricking himself. When all of a sudden a cloaked Pred appears behind him and you get an audio stinger. Now you're like "Oh f**k - here's where he gets it!"- BUT! as he turns the Pred sidesteps him and allows him to walk by because it's actually the clean up Pred (and we'll learn he won't engage unless he absolutely has to!) So the guard walks off and Clean Up Pred investigates further.

There are several ways I think an episodic Pred could work, though.

Solace agrees with Mr. T multiple times!  Solace is "based!"  Kudos for Solace!

Nightmare Asylum:  Mr. T appreciates the Closed Captioning; Mr. T lost much of his hearing as a 12B in the Army!
  14. Mister T
Mr. T is confused!  He couldn't understand a fawking thing the narrator said!  It was like Liam Neeson smoked crack cocaine, then inhaled blow, then topped it off with a shot of meth!  IT'S NOT GOOD FOR THE KIDS!!!

Quote from: BigDaddyJohn on Nov 14, 2024, 05:40:03 PMWell, character development is the thing I believe in the most here, considering Hawley's reputation and the series format.

Amen to this. Hawley has written some very memorable, offbeat and intriguing characters in Fargo.

I don't know if Legion is as good in that regard, but I only heard really good things about Fargo indeed.

Legion is a lot more abstract than Fargo from what I saw of it (I actually hated it tbh even though I love his work on Fargo and didn't quite make it to the end of S1) but I don't think memorable or complex characters are lacking there either.
