Free League has just announced that the Kickstarter for the newest edition of the Alien RPG is getting ready for next year, early 2025. Their Discord specifies that they plan to have it ready by Spring, with a planned release for Fall 2025. Their Kickstarter page states the following:
The Kickstarter will include updated and expanded core rules, an updated Starter Set, a new Cinematic scenario boxed set called Rapture Protocol, and a miniatures set. All existing game material will be compatible with the new edition, and you will even be able to play the new edition expansions with the first edition rules.
Based upon feedback from thousands of players over five years of adventures, the Evolved Edition of the Core Rulebook delivers an updated and streamlined version of the ALIEN RPG fans know and love, along with additional new artwork, new content, and a variety of new tools for players and Game Mothers alike, all fully compatible with previous releases and game material.
The new Evolved Starter Set will be redesigned as the perfect starting point for newcomers to roleplaying in the ALIEN universe, containing everything they need for game night including abridged Evolved Edition rules, character sheets, custom dice, reference cards, various handouts, and an expanded edition of the fan-favorite Hope’s Last Day scenario set on Hadley’s Hope just prior to the unforgettable events of Aliens.
The new cinematic scenario boxed set Rapture Protocol returns to the roots of the ALIEN franchise, featuring the crew of a small star freighter on a resupply run to the remote industrial colony, soon embroiled in a deadly conflict.
The miniatures set is designed to bring the events of Rapture Protocol to life, but fully complement other adventures and skirmish battles throughout the ALIEN RPG series.
Even though Free League states that the delay is because of adding more community feedback into the Evolved Edition, in their most recent interviews, Tomas Härenstam, the head of Free League Publishing and the Game Director for the Alien RPG, has said that licensing approval from Disney can also push dates back.
In addition, their Facebook page emphasizes that parts of Alien: Romulus will be coming to the Alien RPG:
Today, we can to show a glimpse of some of the new content included in our upcoming Evolved Edition of ALIEN: The Roleplaying Game, and to reveal that the new Core Rulebook will feature settings, spacecrafts, and gear from the iconic film ALIEN: Romulus.Today’s preview includes an illustration of the new F44AA Pulse Rifle from John Mullaney and official artwork of Jackson’s Star from Col Price, one of the concept artists who designed the unforgettable colony seen on screen.
