While the new 3.00 revamp update for Predator: Hunting Grounds just dropped with the long awaited Feral Predator, developer Illfonic gave us treated us to an early look at the new update before its public announcement!
We had a great time chatting with Illfonic’s Chief Creative Officer Jared Gerritzen and Lead Designer Jordan Mathewson about bringing the game to next generation consoles as its new publisher, taking the reins from Sony and handling both development and publishing. They told us about the new Feral Predator features including weapons & equipment, the upgraded lighting and visuals coming with the new version of Unreal Engine the game has been ported to, and hinted at future plans for the game.
We had hoped to have this video up a bit sooner but we ran into a technical issue that required us to record new footage for the second part of the interview. Apologies for the delay. You can check out the full interview below:
A big thanks to Illfonic for taking the time to speak with us and show off their new update for Predator: Hunting Grounds. Keep an eye out for future livestreams of us playing it on Sundays at noon MST / 7:00pm BST.

Yeah I can feel it. I find myself resorting to more hit and run tactics than I did before.
I'm so tired of Predator games getting the short end of the stick. It's a shame when one half of my interest, the Alien series, is getting good games in the past few years but meanwhile Predator is stuck with this.
I mean they just launched a new patch for PS4 players and apparently it didn't fix much of anything for people, like that's crazy.
Its illfonic, potatos devs that will never do a good update.
new original story material for the game would be interesting, but it doesn't seem like thats in the cards. at least for now.
At the same time I have a hard time understanding their balancing ideas like how they nerfed the Bow again in both power and ammo capacity. Fireteam had an lower ammo count on some weapons but their power remains higher in DPS than Predator weaponry. I best believe plasma pistol should have remained before the 2.50 release, as once again the collective firepower of Fireteam can dominate the Predator in terms of firepower now more than ever. Strongly believed that it was a skill issue if they cannot handle it's power. At least just allow the ammo capacity to be high to have the medium power but high rate of fire and ammo capacity would be much more comprisable.
I seen how they increased melee damage but due to again the high DPS it still risks the Predator on being overwhelmed by gunfire too quickly, especially now if energy drain is much quicker than ever before. At least increase the stamina capacity and lessen the energy drain to allow the Predator to better respond in offense or defense.
Shame that there is no more story is planned here, not even new Fireteam DLC. I hope they can reconsider this and make new original ones. Hell I would be open to McKenna in coming back, as I do wonder about his whereabouts after The Predator. Even the OWLF tapes mentioned him. Hopefully at least two more Fireteam DLCs for diversity's sake.
Overall, interesting interview and I really do hope they go 110% all in on this. It's rough as a Predator fan that this is the only Predator game we have and it has alot going on for it.
