WETA Artist Shares Alternative Xenomorph Designs For Alien: Romulus!

While WETA was primarily responsible for the face-hugger effects on Alien: Romulus, it looks like the artists working for the effects team also had the opportunity to play in the larger sandbox of the Alien universe. Andrew Baker, an artist who worked for WETA on Alien: Romulus, has shared some designs for an alternative take on the film’s adult Alien.

Working with VFX Supervisor from WetaFX Dan Macarin very briefly on a potential for a different Xenomorph. Ultimately the film makers went with a more “classic” version of the Xeno but was great fun to have a go and finally work with Jerad Marantz who did some very cool work on this as well!

Interestingly, this seems more appropriate as a design for the Offspring which would feature in Alien: Romulus’ finale, but hints at a time when the film’s regular Aliens may not have been so close in design to H.R Giger’s original.
