Writer/director Fede Alvarez has uploaded the first pack of Alien: Romulus “trading cards” to his social media accounts! Styled after Topps’ trading card set for the original Alien, these cards are our first look at what appear to be cast portraits from Alien: Romulus. Check them out below!
Fede referred to these as Package #1, so I believe it’s safe to assume we’ll be seeing the rest of the cast in this fantastic retro style!
The Alien franchise has had many trading card sets over the decades since 1979, including the original set published by Topps in 1979 which the above is based on. In 1992 Star Pics published a set of Alien 3 trading cards. InkWorks picked up the license in 1998 and published the Alien Legacy series, based on all 4 films, as well as publishing sets for both Alien vs. Predator and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem.
In 2016 Upper Deck began publishing Alien trading cards, beginning with the Alien Anthology set that featured original art depictions covering the first four Alien films. They would go on to publish more traditional screenshot cards for Alien (2017), Aliens (2018) and Alien 3 (2021). Would you like to see a full trading card set for Alien: Romulus? Sound off below!
