Alien: Earth Teaser Trailer Screened Before Alien: Romulus!

For Alien fans at showings of Alien: Romlus at Regal Cinemas in the United States, you’ll find yourself catching a brief 10-second teaser trailer for FX and Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth! We have not heard reports of it showing in the United Kingdom or at other chains in the States.

The teaser trailer shows the Earth reflected along the smooth dome of an Alien, quickly cutting to fast, close shots of the Alien and then the title card which confirms the title as Alien: Earth and the release date of 2025. Our very own RidgeTop caught the teaser at one of his showings! You can watch it yourself below!

I'm sorry but I think all you guys saying it's a placeholder are dreaming. To me that looks like a badly done practical xeno with a CG dome enhancement to facilitate the world reflection image. Doesn't look all CG to me. Looks rubbery and poorly designed with very little movement in the body and mouth which is why it had to be "moved" into the mouth open snarling position with a quick cut. I may be wrong but that's what it looks like. It feels like a weird hybrid of the Alien Resurrection fleshy, big lipped alien with smaller teeth like Alien 3.

This feels a good time to point out that even a month or two ago when that Romulus Total Film cover dropped, the Alien on that actually looked quite a bit different to the one that appeared onscreen. Those stumpy tubes people were complaining about turned out to be perfectly fine. It's not uncommon for promo material to be slightly 'adjacent' to the final thing.

    The teaser is 10 seconds...

I'm not a CGI expert, but if they had a finished final product, I think they would have shown a trailer with a 2024 release date. Considering they finished filming last month.

It's obvious that it's not the final product.

I think you can all take solace in the fact that aliens will probably be few and far between in this show since we're more likely to get a lot of navel-gazing about the human condition.

It looks like something straight from the 2000s. I don't know why it's the feeling I'm getting every time I look at it. I'm actually surprised we didn't get this design for AvP 2004!

getting a bad vibe about this drop.

    this teaser

Noah dissing the prequel movies (and comparing Ridley to George Lucas) (arrogance rarely leads to good results, especially when you're dissing the director of the movies you claim to love..)

the bizarre out of timeline nature of the show...

I'm still inclined to think it's just a quick rendering (perhaps using an unfinished/early model from the show?) cobbled together for this ad to rush it into theaters.

Guess we'll find out in a year.

the way the rubbery part of the mouth goes up to the dome is.... pretty ugly, yes. Bizarrely stupid decision on a creature that Giger always intended to be very elegant.

WETA dropping the ball or bad decisions by Noah? we shall see...

    Yes, ugly as sin.

The dome should be colliding directly into the upper lip, I can stand for loads of variation on the Alien design but this will frankly drive me insane if it makes it to screen.

is he say that you should judge anyone because everyone is guilty of something? Is it just me or do Christians practise the opposite of what Jesus and the Bible were saying. If Jesus were around today I think he would be sick if he saw what people did to his name and ideas.

Quote from: Preydator on Aug 17, 2024, 08:16:08 PMIt looks fine! For a quick ad made to capitalize on the general audience watching Romulus, it does the job.

That's the same way I saw it. I'll wait for some real footage to role out before I throw stones.
