Archie Renaux Demonstrates F44AA Pulse Rifle in New Alien: Romulus Clip

Alien: Romulus premiered in the United States yesterday, and the press saw the film on Monday. The motion tracker is blipping away as we close in on that general release date on Friday! As these final days continue to fly by, we’ve been getting more and more new little snippets in various tv spots and international trailers. And now, a new clip from Alien: Romulus has been uploaded to IMDB’s Twitter page!

In this new clip, the Xenomorph’s hunting of the Archie Renaux’s Tyler, Cailee Spaeny’s Rain and David Jonnson’s Andy has caused a more aggressive change of plan. Tyler demonstrates Alien: Romulus’ Pulse Rifle, the F44AA (the AA stands for aim-assist) to Rain. Check it out below!

Plus executive meddling is not new to this franchise.

Its pretty much the disney motto for the past years, take a look at Deadpool and Wolverine.

    Spoiler
And yes, they spoiled the entire movie lol

It could have been Fede though since he added Isolation save stations into the film, so he is not above callbacks for sure.

Stuff like save stations from Isolation can be pretty cool without the cringe, but multiple word for word line parroting is baffling for a new Alien instalment that is not a AvP movie/video game/fan fiction.

Even if the film is treading no new ground, the nods/callbacks etc take the audience out of the film. Is this Disney's doing, I doubt that Fede went "hey, let's make this character say: get away from her you bitch, wouldn't that be cool."

I'm now going in with very low expectations. I am sick to death of memberberries and the lack of original thinking employed by writers and directors these days. No more nods to this, callbacks or homages. Give us something new.

Quote from: Sevastopol on Aug 14, 2024, 11:57:13 AMI think the callback thing is a bit overplayed by some on that IMDB scene. (Had to watch it even if I'll see the movie today). But that's just me. Totally different tone in the Hicks-Ripley scene in Aliens, for me at least.
    Yeah, i agree.

I'm sure the Get away from her, you bitch scene will be cringe and too on the nose, but the gun scene with Tyler and Rain was way different from the one between Ripley and Hicks, not to mention that it actually makes sense in the context of the movie.

They need guns, so they learn how to use guns, the end...

Yeah. And that scene was clearly to establish a romantic side (or interest at least) between Ripley and Hicks as well. This has no romantic undertones whatsoever.

Nothing wrong with some callback references especially when they are subtle. There is nothing subtle about this though! It's a little disappointing.

Still looking forward to seeing it to though!

I was thinking there had to be something wrong with the armature when they first showed it off. I'm expecting there to be some technical glitches with the rifle to justify why it was abandoned.

This scene is great. Very hopeful about Romulus
Remember this is 2024. Films need to adapt
    Fede loves this franchise.
The actors are really good. Proven.
    Real FX proven.

    So just watch it
    It's going to amazing
    Weird third act. Proven

Not my favourite clip of these actors. Felt like exposition rather than natural dialogue. The clip of them leaving the planet was far better. Maybe this was filmed very earlier on before the actors hit their stride in making their characters come to life.

Quote from: PortugueseXeno on Aug 13, 2024, 03:10:04 PMAt this point, i'm mostly worried about dialogue callbacks (potential "Get away from her, you bitch) than anything else that has been brought up by the reviews.

Those type of dialogues can disappoint me and make me roll my eyes, but if only used once or twice, it's nowhere near enough in order for me to have a bad time with the movie.

"Games and magazines" my ass. Something fishy there.
Honestly, i can it see be as straightforward as that.

A little "banter" and levity before shit gets real in the hive.

These characters clearly want to leave their colony in search of a new life, so no wonder Tyler looks for escapism through reading and playing games.
