Reebok Releasing Limited Edition Alien: Romulus Bug Stompers!

Though they were suspiciously absent from this year’s Alien Day celebrations, Reebok has just announced (via Bloody Disgusting) that they are adding another variant of Bug Stompers to their collection! First featured in Aliens, with both high and low top versions worn by Ellen Ripley and Bishop, the Bug Stompers made a big splash in modern Alien fandom when Reebok began to re-issue the shoes when Alien Day celebrations became officially sponsored.

Since then, Reebok has done several takes on the concept and the Bug Stompers are making a return on the feet of Cailee Spaeny’s Rain in the upcoming Alien: Romulus. With laces, rather than velcro straps, Rain’s iteration of the Bug Stompers are low-tops like worn by Bishop.

Reebok and the Alien franchise share a longstanding history of collaborations dating back to James Cameron’s Aliens, which featured a futuristic pair of Reeboks memorably worn by Ellen Ripley. The shoes were specifically designed for the movie and replicas were in more recent years released by Reebok, becoming highly sought after by horror fans and sneaker collectors.

For the release of Alien: Romulus, the storied franchise is set to reignite thrills with the commercial release of a unique and compelling piece of footwear that will be worn throughout the forthcoming film.

Pulled from the archive and built upon Reebok Basketball’s iconic BB4000 II frame, the “Reebok Alien Romulus” was designed to battle big bugs, featuring an all-leather upper, distressed film-worn finish, Weyland-Yutani logo on the tongue and heel, EVA foam midsole, and a solid rubber cupsole with a grippy traction pattern for grip, among other ‘easter eggs.’

Is anyone else not really cool with the distressed look?  If I'm going to pay a fortune for these, I want them to look shiny and new. It's not like I'm going to wear them.  I'd rather they not look like they were worn for years.

Quote from: Jaws the Revenge on Aug 09, 2024, 05:42:12 PMThat will cost a fortune in shipping and import taxes for UK... probably like £300 plus.
Also not sure the added dirt is wise.
But they are damn fine. I would buy for sure.
Anybody know any good alternatives from Reebok that look like Ellen's, Rains and Bishops ?

I'm with you.  I am pretty unhappy about the dirt. I still want them, but they look a little awful like that. lol

Too dirty!  But I'll shut up about it now.

Any word about this one being a limited quantity or a full production run?  The website doesn't say anything, so maybe they will make enough of these that everybody can get a pair.
