Final Alien: Romulus Trailer Released!

The final trailer for Alien: Romulus has been released! Ahead of its theatrical release on August 16th, 20th Century Studios has released the final trailer for the film. The trailer clocks in at 2 minutes 47 seconds and pieces together a lot of the footage that has been released over the past couple of weeks.

There’s still plenty of new material to feast your eyes on. The trailer begins with the characters discussing where they are going. There is some dialogue from a couple of the new crew members before the trailer picks up with the action beats with the classic Alien sirens pounding out.

What did you guys think of the trailer? Sound off in the comments below.

Ripley's different. She's seen it all, it's no surprise to her what's gonna happen. She's already hardened by this point, and defiant. She can put up with the pain while sacrificing herself for the greater good. She's not calm, just badass! :P

I always assumed the burster could tell she was about to die, based on her heart rate or whatever... so it ripped out early.

But I also think that ending is dumb and I watch the AC anyway.
  3. Nightmare Asylum
Ripley's death is a bit dodgy, effects wise, in the AC of Alien 3, but even still I much prefer it without the chestburster.

Much more interesting to me that she sacrifices herself on her own terms with one last big ol' f**k you to the company, rather than her being seconds away from dying from the chestburster anyways.

EDIT: Whoops, I'm in the Final Trailer thread. I need to pay more attention before I click things. Still haven't watched that trailer.

Quote from: Mike's Monsters on Jul 25, 2024, 07:31:39 PMYeah, Ripley takes it like it's nothing in ALIEN 3.

I showed a couple friends Alien3 for the first time a few weeks ago but we went with the Assembly Cut and they enjoyed it. Then I showed them the theatrical version of Ripley's death afterward and they laughed. Loudly.
What's wrong with the TC Ripley's death? 🥲 I like it more than the AC version

It's funny cause I never really thought anything of the theatrical ending growing up, but after seeing the assembly cut ending the theatrical version does seem over the top to a almost comical degree in comparison.

Can't expect every victim to react the exact same way. some convulse and manage only a few pained screams like the cocooned woman in Aliens, others start choking while they are eating and start screaming like Kane did, some are Ripley in Alien 3  etc.

We only get glimpses of what happens to Navarro in the trailer.

Quote from: MetalAlien on Jul 19, 2024, 06:23:06 AMThe girl with the burster seemed remarkably unimpressed that it was happening.

Imagine thinking she's 'unimpressed' and being so negative about it? I mean she's clearly in shock in the trailer. She's just put some portable medical scanner on herself (after presumably having been facehugged, all traumatic itself) and discovered something is smashing at the inside of her chest. How is she supposed to react?

Many people that suffer traumatic injuries that hurt a lot (severe broken bones etc) exhibit exactly the same kind of reactions. They aren't yelling or screaming or throwing themselves around in a fit because adrenaline has kicked in.
  8. The Cruentus
Given the posters and what not, I say it doesn't count as a spoiler because it seems Navarro's death is a part of the marketing, maybe to appeal to long time fans while giving hints about how the life-cycle works to newbies.

Wu's character is a given since long ago.

Bjorn getting speared in the face is not a death scene according to Mike's Monsters.

They told me that I was lying and that absolutely all the deaths had been revealed. Even though I understand that they are wrong. but people are terribly stubborn

I'd say only one death has been revealed, although not even fully shown. That's pretty great.

The last scene of the midquel trilogy is Van Leuwen and the board of inquiry waiting for Ripley to arrive and all agreeing to see how long they can make the inquiry go without giving away Aliens have already been to Earth and been dealt with.
  12. Local Trouble
That's a fine idea.  Whoever survives this movie should go on to have endless midquel adventures fighting aliens all over the galaxy and maybe even a crossover with Amanda Ripley.  Maybe they can even shoehorn in an Earth War storyline.

If Fede leaves the film open at the end, which I think he will, this will open up for future films to explore the timeline between Alien and Aliens. You have the 27 year gap to place other stories, if this film succeeds.

Isolation is an interactive video game, which changes the affair. I think that the traditional Alien is very effective in a video game.
However, as for an original movie is concerned, it is possible to play on variations about the creature, but where is the surprise, where is the originality? Of course one can find pleasure in the repetition of the usual schemes. But is it as great as having the feeling of watching something really fresh and new (although it could still be a variation) in what regards the creature? Well, that is the question.
I think that Scott was quite right in his first assessment; of course he changed his mind just a biter later and appears fickle about that kind of things these last years. He had a ridiculous discourse about History in the promotion of his movie about Napoleon, for example. He is still amazing in his craft, of course, nonetheless.

the "let's go" at 2:13 sound a lot like Ian Holm. Couldn't it be deepfake Ash that says it ? We know from Mike that he's supposed to be voiced by an "imitator" and the visual of Andy doesn't match the lip sync of the audio.

    It's Andy.

Thanks for clearing that up. I think it sounds weird but ok.

I think the editing was slightly out as I also noticed the words are out of synch with his lips when he says "let's go"

Quote from: TheBATMAN on Jul 21, 2024, 12:12:12 PMI'm honestly hoping the next film will be Ridley's final prequel. Romulus looks to be providing the back to basics Alien approach people have been asking for for a long time now. But I feel they can only get away with doing this one time only. The next film will have to be notably different in its approach.

Ridley said in recent interviews that he thought Alien was cooked but that he admits Fede breathed new life into it. Hopefully this may influence his thinking if Alien Destiny is ever to see the light of day. And hopefully voices will be loud enough to tell him the vast majority don't want David in the chair.

Give us a decent conclusion to David's story.

Well, given what we've heard so far, I'm hoping Romulus does just that.

I think the last trailer was not that spoilery for that length to be honest. You can see that most scenes shown are from the same locations and situations, it shows that they kept a lot under wraps.
  21. Ulfer
I'm weak. I should not have watched these last videos/trailers, there is a bit too much inside. The setting seems to be very well done. Yes, I care more about the aesthetics of the places than about the characters, I'm one of these guys! (But there are so powerful elements for imagination in spaceships, in space stations, in derelict ships...)
Still, I hope that there will be a few discoveries and innovations in this movie. I hope it will be a success, but at the same time, I'd very much like to see more "conceptual" and a bit more ambitious (invention-wise) new entries into this universe (because, well, the good old xeno is no longer "alien" enough, notably). It could be great to have an Andor in that fictional universe, something a bit different but propelled by more "mainstream" other projects, if you see what I mean. (And speaking of video games if we could get in a few years a spiritual sequel to Alien Isolation, I would be very happy - and very frightened hahaha).

I don't regret watching. That was the best trailer yet. Loved the music and use of the siren, and I say that as someone who's getting tired of this franchise overusing that siren.

I lasted as long. Hahaha. Just watched it. Not too many new reveals which is great. Can't fricken wait for this film.
