Total Film Shares Three Exclusive Images From Alien: Romulus

Movie magazine Total Film has shared three brand new production stills from Alien: Romulus from its upcoming magazine issue. The first still shows some of the crew tending to Aileen Wu’ character Navarro.

The second production still shows Cailee Spaeny’ Rain sitting and talking to Archie Renaux’s character Tyler. Finally, the last still is of Isabela Merced’s character Kay.

The new issue of Total Film magazine is due out this Thursday. You won’t be able to miss it – it has the Xenomorph on the cover. Inside the magazine, it will include an interview with Cailee Spaeny talking about taking inspiration from Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, Rain’s relationship with android Andy and what it was like to come face to face with a Xenomorph.

Director Fede Alvarez also tells us the lengths he went to, to create the world of Romulus practically and why he wanted to take Alien back to its roots.

Thanks to Darkoo for the news.

Regarding the characters' relationships with each other, it's just interesting and trivial for me personally, but nice. But I'm tired of these aggressions, same-sex or opposite-sex relationships. If there was or is even something between Navarro and Bjorn, or between Rein and Tyler, then there's just something pleasant in my soul. And so I worry more about the characters. If anything is pure IMHO

Not sure where Mr.Damage was going with it but even if they were in a relationship, it wouldn't matter. Not only because its not a problem but its an alien movie, such things are secondary to the horror situation the crew finds themselves in. So the "not time for any of that" is on point.

Sometimes when reading some comments, you'd almost forget the hero of the franchise is a woman and a black guy goes pretty far in the first movie at a time it wasn't common at all.

people love to be outraged. I lead a group on the Alien franchise, obli is constantly indignant and stupid jokes are written about what lesbians say and that the android is black. tired of fighting with people.

What you were given to watch was far from the final version of the film.
Even in the trailers you can see how new facehuggers are being added where there were none. And the effects.
So don't be sure you know everything...

What I saw was the movie. The only thing that it didn't have was finished special effects and music. Those Facehuggers were in the movie I saw and were removed from the trailers.

So yes, I do know everything. I was someone who gave extensive notes to marketing on what to put in the trailers and what to keep out. I have seen the movie in detail.

I mean I don't see that in the trailers, there just no hint of it. Even then I wouldn't really have a problem with it if it's deliver in an organic and non Forceful way.

    No new images as such.
A few new things in there.

One side of Jackson's Star is in darkness all the time.
Tyler and Bjorn work in the mines.
Tyler is the ex-boyfriend of Rain.
    Navarro is Bjorn's adopted sister.
    Kay is Tyler's sister.
    Andy is synthetic model ND-255.

I had inferred from the VHS/footage presentation scene aboard Corbelan that these two were in a relationship. Now I know better!

Glad it wasn't just me! And I've seen the whole thing!

Interesting! The movie doesn't go out of its way to explain some of these relationships, unless they added stuff with the reshoots. I was left wondering who was dating who, and if some folks were brother and sister (besides Rain and Andy). But these details aren't really all that important to the plot though either.

Hmm, that's a good one. Absolutely love their look.

I wouldn't be totally shocked to see them used in some capacity, either as the strewn about corpses of Commandos that were stationed on the Renaissance Station and have fallen victim to the Alien(s) before the characters' arrival, or as forces that show up later in the film in an attempt to salvage/collect resources from the Station.

Well, Alien³ is a long way off at this point in the timeline. Fury 161 will still be a mineral ore refinery, if it's been settled at all.

I think it'll just be a passing reference to the planet and how grim it is. You never know tho...

Quote from: SiL on Jul 16, 2024, 11:30:38 AMWe don't know how long it was on the dog or any of the people in Resurrection.

Obviously it was fast in both cases. Especially in A3 TC and Resurrection. I'd give 1-10 mins, not even half of an hour.

Quote from: The Cruentus on Jul 16, 2024, 11:42:49 AMWhich is probably why it was deleted in the first place, it was too fast.

Regarding Aliens - partially yes. But it was in the script and was filmed, so the director approved this (unlike Ridley's speaking alien). Also this scene was cuted because Ripley (indirectly) kills Burke, and Cameron (for some unknown reason) doesn't want to make Ripley do it. Also it was a silly scene: Burke can blow up a grenade in front of Rupley's face. And why not?

Quote from: The Cruentus on Jul 16, 2024, 11:42:49 AMAnd AVP and AC having fast life-cycle is exactly one of many criticisms fans tend to make on those movies.

Critisism is an opinion and not an argument. Everything else
Quote from: The Cruentus on Jul 16, 2024, 11:42:49 AMmay questionable

Quote from: The Cruentus on Jul 16, 2024, 11:57:53 AMAnd Huggers can only implant one before dying, not including a royal facehugger of course.

I don't take Royal facehugger's two embryos until it on the screen and confirmed.

  20. The Cruentus
The huggers that were removed were the same ones that attacked Ripley and Newt, they clearly still had an embryo to implant, otherwise they would have died. And Huggers can only implant one before dying, not including a royal facehugger of course.

It was a medical report too, so probably fact.
  21. The Cruentus
Quote from: Drukathi on Jul 16, 2024, 08:51:46 AMTalking about how long facehugger impregnates a victim, I always thought the facehugger sat on Kane for so long just to keep him alive. Firstly on the airless atmosphere of LV-426, secondly - something like restoring life support and making sure the host (with chestburster) will live.

In a safety environment facehugger makes the "buisness" for a few minutes or even instant.

I mean: only first Alien has so long proccess of impregnation. In the deleted scene of Aliens Burke got facehuggered for a few minutes. Dog/bull in Alien 3 got it even faster. AR too. AC has it for minutes and instantly. AvP/R also shortly.

Conclusion: people should stop looking back at the first Alien and saying that facehugger needs almost a day. This is wrong. And this is probably not very convenient for storytelling.

Which is probably why it was deleted in the first place, it was too fast.

And AVP and AC having fast life-cycle is exactly one of many criticisms fans tend to make on those movies.

We are not just going by the first movie to make comparisons, Aliens has Russ be hugged for a very long time, the novels/comics even say it was around 24 hours but the canocity on that may questionable.

Also its mentioned in that same movie how a facehugger can be surgically removed before implantation, meaning it does not implant instantly.
