Alien: Romulus’ UK Premiere Will Be At The Edinburgh International Film Festival

While we have eagerly been anticipating the 16th of August for the release of Alien: Romulus by Fede Alvarez, Deadline has revealed today that the UK premiere will be at the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF), on the 15th of August. It will serve as the opener for the festival’s Midnight Madness program, a day earlier than previously expected. The wider release at cinemas will still be the 16th of August for the UK and the USA.

Fede Alvarez brings a sense of tradition and legacy, as well as gory originality and swagger to the table, and we can think of no better way to open our Midnight Madness programme than with this showstopping new film. Plus knowing that Ridley Scott’s seminal original ALIEN also played a midnight UK premiere at the Festival back in 1979 is the icing on a spectacular, albeit very gnarly, cake. Bring it on.

Why is the premiere date in Sweden august 14th and not 16th? (I'm not complaining since I live there)

    Edit, found this:
The new Alien movie, titled Alien: Romulus, will be released in the UK and in the USA on August 16th, 2024. France and Sweden are the lucky territories that will get the film first, landing on their screens on August 14th, while Germany, Hungary and Slovakia will be able to enjoy the movie one day later on August 15th.

Hehe nice, guess I'm seeing it first :D
