After teasing us with a few shots of the prototype figure last fall, NECA has finally released a number of images for their completed Feral Predator from last year’s hit movie Prey!
Check out all of the new images for the figure below.
The description for the figure from NECA’s listing is as follows:
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, the thrilling movie Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters on the Great Plains. When danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries. This 7” scale action figure is detailed to depict the creature’s movie appearance and includes a full complement of weaponry: mask, spear gun, open and collapsed spears, open and collapsed shields, and interchangeable hands and mandibles. Comes in collector-friendly 5-panel packaging with opening front flap.

If Neca has lost the license then Hasbro seems like the first choice since they already work with them and possess the Marvel legends banner. Predator wouldn't strictly fall under Marvel, but to test the waters I can easily see Predator happen to be in a wave they're then currently doing because despite not being strictly Marvel, they are currently producing the comics and Disney own both Marvel and the franchise outright.
So nothing movie specific since that involves specific rights but one of the streamlined character designs from the comics. And Hasbro has produced a number of larger sized figures in bulk lately. Wrecker of Bad Batch can still be found fairly easily despite being a larger deluxe figure.
We also know from Lanard that the license is capable of being sold to kids. Kenner is also owned by Hasbro. Hasbro has done reissues of older figures from the Beast Wars line and Kenner did Predators way back when. Meaning it's not out of the question for Hasbro to pull from either old molds or concepts since one of the companies they own worked on the franchise already. We even know them to have done retro cards with not only Beast Wars but Star Wars.
What fuels your suspicions?
I've suspected Hasbro will be gearing up for it.
Hopefully Mike's Monsters ends up right and NECA is done with it. Then a better company might get their hands on the IP.

Speaking from experience since I shoot this stuff for Bandai as my day job. A lot of our samples don't match what the final product is going to look like, which is why there's often text saying "final product may appear different than production photography" or something along those lines.
So I'd wait for real, in hand product photos closer to the release to really know if it's gonna be a glossy finish or not.
Here's Blaine saying something very similar about the actual figure itself too:

Saw a comment about how the figure looks too slimy. I disagree...production still Feral wasnt slimy but Feral in the film looked slimy as f**k due to the terrible CGI sheen and drab colour grading inflicted on him.
Will always use the masked head
I know this is the wrong thread for it but they really goofed up when they decided to redesign the Predator. Like, I mean, conceptually I get why they did it, and I understand that the artist who did it actually did in fact put a lot of careful thought into it to explain how the environmental factors would result in a different-looking Predator. I'm fine with that, I can respect that.
It doesn't mean I have to like the end result.
I do love Ferals design in the film though.
Now you can realize how bad it is Some of you will have that 50$ piece of plastic in your hands. You ll realize how bad it is. No..... next

- a guy with Predator/alien hot toys
It's also worth noting they downgraded the hair mold from the prototype to now

And it's not like they couldn't make the body painting and sculp look good despite the Predator being mostly naked, they have made those kinds of design look good painting wise before.

Yeah that worked nicely with Scar. NECA did wonders there. But Scar was still a lot closer to traditional Predator designs that re-working the design didn't take much.
In order to make Feral look good, his design would have to be completely changed. There's no saving the travesty that it already is.
Yeah, Neca's going out with a whimper not a bang, finally it's a Predator sculpted with no passion just like most of their Aliens.
Bummer, I was really looking forward to this.
I'm going to guess that those discussions have already started or happened. Now it's a waiting game. I can see it being an SDCC exclusive set with Sarii or something when it's a character like this. I'd like to think Naru would sell like crazy, but not sure she would outside a small Predator fanbase. There's a lot of people who didn't like a lady being a Predator movie star, which could lead to lower sales too.
I don't think many companies announce when they lose or let go of a license. It's not good business to publicly speak about deals and letting contracts expire or being dropped by a license owner. They always do it quietly and let it fade out. NECA said nothing when they let go of Godzilla's license, I don't expect anything different with Alien and Predator.
So like I mentioned before, they likely let go of the license a while ago, but we're just now seeing the results of that play out on the timeline.
Though, if there is enough demand, it could make some new deals happen in the future for a limited run here or there.

This guy is at NECA and is speaking about the possibility of a Naru figure in this tweet. So anything is possible, but I'd say keep any expectations of anything new very low. Especially talent involved. NECA had to pay each actor individually for use their likeness to make an Alien or Predator themed figure. So Arnold and Sigourney or any actor was paid by NECA because FOX didn't sell the character's likenesses. So depending on how tricky that situation is with Amber and the characters rights could decide on a Naru figure.
So then Feral likely is the last release then? And if true, won't they announce it as such?
I'm genuinely surprised we didn't see 3 separate releases instead of the 1 we get. NECA loves milking their sculpts for more money with alternate paint jobs or accessories.
Closed, open, roaring.
Nice.
Probably not. Won't be surprised if this is the last Predator related figure we see from NECA for a long time unless the license is renewed. With no word on Alien Day and the little they've had to say over the last few years, I really don't think we will see anything new.
NECA let it go from what I've heard. Nothing to do with Disney or the merger. They let it fade out before then, and we're only now just seeing the tail end of the releases. It takes 6 months to make the figure with licensing and approvals, and 6 more to finally release them. So since we've seen nothing, it's safe to assume they let it go a while ago and we're just now seeing the results.

The hair leaves much to be desired, the base color is too dark and the spots don't blend as well as they should, he also looks too slimy
Doubt it, but I was surprised by this!
I'm just really disappointed Hot Toys is not doing a Feral. It would've been amazing.
