The new campaign module for the Alien: Roleplaying Game has been announced! Following on from last year’s Colonial Marines Operation Manual, the Alien: RPG is now expanding with a new module focused around the pioneering explorer and colonist characters!
“Space is a pitch black room—stick your hand out and you might never get it back. Of course, you also might touch god. It’s a gamble either way. To not try, however, is to wither and die—only those bold and foolish enough to take a chance will change their lives.”
—Captain J.V. Gorham, Far Spinward Colonies, Pioneer, Weyland Corp.
All the wonder and danger of the stars is yours—if you can just wipe the grime off your face and dig the dirt out from under your fingernails first. Airless moons circle swirling gas giants, eager to be transformed into tomorrow’s paradise. Dark ancient mysteries wait to be unearthed beneath a millennium of debris. Searing solar flares boil your flesh and blacken your bones as you harness their power to light a hundred worlds. Long lost mysteries lie entombed in the frozen hearts of icy comets. Unstable tectonic plates shift to drown iridium mines in scalding lava. Even the truth of humanity’s origins awaits you out there, orbiting some dying star. And out there amongst it all is something truly horrifying—something that nature never intended.
Something alien.
Building Better Worlds is a complete campaign module for the award-winning official ALIEN roleplaying game, giving you all the tools you need to run a full open-world campaign as a pioneering explorer or colonist. This book includes:
- History of Colonization – the story of humanity’s reach for the stars.
- Creating Explorers & Colonists – expanded character creation rules for life on the frontier.
- Gear & Ships – an extensive chapter with new gear and spaceships, gloriously illustrated.
- Extrasolar Species Catalog – new Xenomorphic creatures to encounter.
- The Lost Worlds – the framework and backstory for a frontier campaign.
- Expeditions – six thrilling expeditions into uncharted space, playable in any order.
- The Endgame – the final showdown with everything at stake.
- The Appendix – create your own frontier and colonize it.
The physical book is currently expected to start shipping in October, but pre-orders will also come with early access to a digital copy that will be released in a few weeks time. Building Better Worlds will be the Alien: Roleplaying Game’s second campaign module.
There are also 3 cinematic scenarios available for purchase, in addition to 3 mini-campaigns found at the back of Titan’s Alien: Colony War, Alien: Inferno’s Fall and Alien: Enemy of My Enemy. The core rulebook van be purchased via Free League’s web store as well.

Whatever the case may be, glad there's buzz about the RPG.
No the article basically describes it as a tool that has all the RPG data already uploaded so you can quickly generate characters, enemies, locations etc. At least that's how I interpreted it.
Also do we know if anyone other than Free League sells them? Like, say, Amazon?
Free League.
Yup. The Charger/Crusher Xenomorph, for one thing. Weapons, creatures and technology from A:CM are all canon; the story is definitely not, however.
Does the RPG carry over anything else from A:CM?
Pathogen popper, stalker, irritating spores- Fireteam Elite
Perfected - Bloodlines/Icarus
Pathogen infected androids, Deacon Sharks - Fire & Stone
Empress - Female War
Bioluminescent Xeno - Aftermath
Anything interesting to note so far?
The book does later state outright that the Engineers created the Arcturians, so I don't even know why they bothered with the human expedition thing. It doesn't even make chronological sense.
The way he explained it was that I guess there was an edict from Fox and/or Disney that any sentient races other than humans or Engineers needed to be tied to the Engineers in some capacity, or something like that.
Emergency landing hex capsule - Resistance
Sonic Deterrent Defense Grid, Shanmen - Inferno's fall
Stinger vehicle - Kenner toy
Colonial Transport vehicle "Borrowdale" - Containment
DS-949 - Berserker/Frenzy
Sphacteria Fuel Depot - Dead Orbit
Bionational - Outbreak
Mira Ceti IV, Omni-tech Corp., Tulitu Esoteric Brotherhood - Elder Gods
The new lore is jaw dropping in it's implications (though a lot of mystery is still left), curious what you'll think of it...
The "dog sized bugs" reference is actually from The Last Supper, which is one of the Covenant shorts. Maggie Faris mentions them.
Hideo Yutani - Origins
Geholgod, Dr Keitel, Throop Rescue - Destroying Angels
Ted Talk
AP patent - Wey-Yu Report
CANC/UNIC - Steel Egg
Hasanova - Into Charybdis
3WExit, New Albion - Colony War
Sevastopol, Gemini Exoplanet Solutions- Isolation
Mendel - Blackout
Wright-Aberra Fuel depot - Defiance
DSMO Marion, Kelland Mining - Out of the Shadows
Rim colony - Outbreak
Rodina Station - Gibson A3
LV-666 - Zero to Hero
Synthetic dogs - Specimen
Dog sized bugs - Exterminators
Plasma Trawler - Harvest
Spoiler
They might do, given that it's hinted the Engineers based the styling of their technology around another superior race.
Never, ever gonna happen. Gaska has stated unequivocally that Predator and AVP are entirely separate from and canonically incompatible with the Alien franchise.
