It’s time for those juicy behind-the-scenes stills! With Prey’s release on the 5th of August, the cast and crew have been taking to various social media outlets to share their pictures taken on during their time on the set of Prey.
Tymon Carter, who portrayed Huupi, shared the following to his Instagram account.
I didn’t know what to expect when I auditioned for this role and got the part along side some of the best human beings I’ve ever worked with. It was an honour to represent the Comanche Nation in this film! Learning the different words in Nʉmʉnʉ was so interesting. I’m really proud of everyone that took part in making this story come to life on the big screen. @dannytrs did an outstanding job and deserves a ton of credit for this amazing film. I hope you all enjoy!
Next up we have Nelson H Leis, who portrayed the French Trapper known as Waxed Mustache, who posted quite a few pictures of himself and his fellow French Trappers on the set of Prey along with Amber Midthunder and Dakota Beavers.

This was me last summer and my pal Predator. They’re very friendly once you get to know them. Also so very fun to hunt with because they have all the latest gear the 1710’s have to offer! But be careful because if they step on you it may hurt and they might mistake you for a booby trap and spear you with their very long arm-swords.

alec_gillis Feral Predator's Bolt Gun is the pre cursor to the Plasma Canon. The idea was to de evolve both the physiognomy and weaponry of this Pred.
Tech that is more angular and not energy based. Of course it still needed the sci fi aspect so our job was to find the balance.

Prey was released recently on Disney+ and Hulu and has already become an extraordinary success. It was my first big feature as a gaffer and was both the most challenging and most rewarding experience I've had in this industry. I have the utmost gratitude for @jeff_cutter for having me on the project.
For every moment of success, I give full credit to the absolute warriors of the LX Crew. The remote nature of the sets presented a logistical nightmare and I do not think I've ever encountered a more physically challenging show. The team crushed it, and met every request with resolve and our characteristic brand of friendliness, which I am very proud of. Whether you worked one day or the entire show, I salute you - you movers of mountains.

bentayman A particularily difficult shot to accomplish. This was take 6 and I'm pretty sure we did more takes afterwards. This version of events had the Predator stepping on my body to retract his blades. This was difficult for Dane as he coudn't put his full weight on me or else I would really have died. Navigating the area was very difficult with limited visability and also the position his neck had to be in to sell the creature. In the end I felt like I did this scene so many times. We even reshot a version with Kyle! I had to scream so much in death. In the end though the scream you hear in the final version I did in ADR. 😅 thats just how it turns out sometimes. It was so cool to perform this scene though! Such an honor to be killed on screen by the Predator

Great post!! It's so awesome to get some behind the scenes material! & I agree with the practical effects we are seeing here. It's done well with the fight sequences & especially the Predator and his face. Wish the final sequence of the film didn't enhance as much with the CGI I felt :/ but the Feral Predator's design is growing on me more and more.
Wanted to see more of this practical effects look below in the final scenes!

Got the pleasure to TAD on this film shot in AB last summer, one of the first of its kind, being dubbed in the Comanche tongue, featuring an ingenious cast and also crew. @ambermidthunder delivers a breathtaking performance and was not only inspiring on screen but also inspiring to work alongside❤️

Pretty incredible first steps into the film industry. Lots of hard work with good people, some pretty fantastic opportunities, while spending a summer in the beautiful landscape of Southern Alberta. alanvillanueva_art These are other Taabe concepts exploring war paint. Again, more implications of a sun or sunray motifs due to the translation of his name.
Dan Trachtenberg (and under guidance of Producer Jhane Myers) had me explore war paint ideas while also keeping in mind these themes and Comanche methods of application by fingertip. Though more simplified, It was so cool how the ones on screen are historically more authentic and exact!
Kudos to Costume Designer Stephanie Porter for bringing me onboard initially!

I had the absolute pleasure to work with director @dannytrs as well as have guidance from producer @thejhane on Naru's war paint designs. I always have a blast collaborating with Costume Designer Stephanie Porter. All such incredibly nice, talented and rad people!
Across the board it was always kept in mind to follow the culture and historical time period with Classic Comanche shapes, materials and motifs.

I hope the next movie is another fresh take in time and place. Not to keen on returning to the same scenario for the next one. Simply to keep things as fresh and new as possible as far as characters and hunts and gadgets and prey and backdrops and locations and story are concerned.
Still keen on p2 tribe story possibilitys .
Also ww2 seems ripe and urban gang wars in 1990's L.A
But also a Family in Australia in the 1300's dealing with crocs could be fun aswell .. so many possibilities.

i still can't find the words to express my gratitude in light of everything that's transpired, not just in the last week (which has been beyond fathomable), but over the past year.
the fact that i was handed the keys to the castle of one of the the most iconic and badass characters in cinematic history still does not feel real to me.
the sense of honor, privilege, and humility that come with such a responsibility of portraying a character such as the predator, on such a massive project that stands for and represents so much more than most of us can comprehend, are overwhelming to me. having the opportunity to breathe new life into a franchise that is so admired and loved by countless fans, and the reception and response that this film has gotten thus far are things i will treasure forever.
being involved in prey and all the indigenous representation that this project stands for, including the firsts, messages, and overall portrayal of authentic indigenous culture that this film contains gives me a tremendous sense of pride, and i am so grateful to be a part of it.

bentayman This was a sticky greasy time. Fake blood in my hair and everywhere, dirt on all my visible parts. Crawling for miles, legs dug into holes. Fake teeth! But honestly I'd do it all again!! This movie was so important in so many ways. Representation, empowerment and how it will inspire the next generation! It feels like a step in a positive direction. It was such an honor to be a part of this piece. It was all worth it!!
