NECA Predator 2 Ultimate Elder & Snake Up For Pre-Order

Pre-Orders are up for the final two releases of NECA’s Ultimate Lost Tribe line, Elder & Snake. Recently shown off at San Diego Comic Con, the two figures mark the end of the ‘Ultimate’ re-release line of one of NECA’s most popular runs, the Predator 2 Lost Tribe.

NECA Predator 2 Ultimate Elder & Snake Up For Pre-Order

The Ultimate Lost Tribe Predators have been unique in including more equipped versions of this group, armed with masks, weapons, and armor we didn’t see them with during their appearance in Predator 2. Snake Predator features a new fuzzy (previous release was plastic texture) ‘fur’ sash, hand scythes, and a bio-mask. The Elder includes a bio-mask from his ‘Golden Angel’ appearance, light up eyes for the mask, and other accessories.

Check below for official descriptions and images.

I would not object to McFarlane revisiting the Alien and Predator franchise. I haven't purchased any of their DC stuff (they haven't made the right Batman yet). The sculpts and articulation look great. Im sure they could make great figures.

Hopping in here a bit late to the current discussion but wouldn't mind seeing McFarlane have it back. They're already working with 20th Century Studios on Avatar, and they've grown a lot as a company since those early days.

Maybe they could try MonsterArts again with Bandai as that line has grown as well as their way sculpts and quality. Hiya seems to be doing okay, though I prefer larger scale. It's all about price point really, and NECA had that on lock years ago, but then prices started going up and up over time.

Could a new company bring the quality we are used to with NECA sculpts at a low price point fans and consumers would be happy with? That's the actual challenge.

I don't think MonsterArts would be prevented as I think the higher price point puts it in a different category. They did their previous Alien & Predator releases while NECA had the license, or perhaps it's a regional thing too. But yeah I'd love to see more A/P from them again, Kotobukiya too.

If the Mezco One:12 figures ever get released, I'd guess those would also be a different category from the main $25-$50 7" license we've been used to with NECA.

Honestly I think McFarlane is best suited to deliver something comparable given their history and the fact they've gotten back into the 7" space after their long stint with smaller format Halo and The Walking Dead.

Some of their recent 7" ones have been quite nice:

The only way I'd want hasbro making Alien and Predator figures is if they do a Transformers AvP Crossover, Marine that turns into a Dropship, Xeno that turns into a space jockey ship, Predator Scout ship, and a Predalien triple changer

They're really not. Their HASBLAB is a money trap. Their kickstarters are a joke. Their employee practices are awful, and now they're trying to hoist their failures off onto the consumer.

I can't speak to their employee practices, but as a longtime collector of Star Wars Vintage Collection, Marvel Legends, and Transformers, I've quite liked a lot of their products for a long time. Recent price hikes suck but it's just gotten me to be a little more choosy in what I buy, but their product quality has been good to great for a very long time.

The only HASLAB I've backed is the Ghostbusters proton pack and that is looking like it's going to be great and worth the money.

I collect Transformers figures since 2009 and personally the War for Cybertron trilogy line (Siege-Earthrise-Kingdom) is quite good, but one thing that really sucks is the online stores exclusives which ran out quickly thanks to the resellers and the prices fetch double 0 figures.
Studio Series is also doing well, but one line that I almost gave up to keep collection is the Masterpiece: way too expensive and the QC doesn't live up to the price.

Quote from: The Shuriken on Oct 09, 2022, 05:27:18 PMWell I can only think of two reasons they would wind down on their previous so called top sellers.

    1. They are not top sellers anymore and it's no longer cost effective to keep making them

    2. Someone else has secured the rights to make collector grade toys and NECA is just finishing things out till the transfer of the IP.

    Or 3.

They let the license expire like they did Godzilla.

Fair point. Well if that's what is really going down, then I hope someone else can secure the rights quickly.

With all this, I now expect Feral Predator to be the last Predator they make, if it all. Because now who the F knows if it will release or not.

Hasbro is particularly bad, though. This isn't a nitpick. They've been God Awful for a long time.

On the other hand, NECA have been pretty terrible with their QA as well. I had three of their figures break before I could even get them out of the clam shell. Their "goods" classification as a soft good keeps them legally safe from reprocussion as well.

I'd love to see McFarlane return to the line. Even if it was more limited articulation. I love their ALIEN and PREDATOR two pack set from 2004. That thing was the start of a new era for Alien and Predator figures.

I think whoever would take over would have a lot of pressure to perform right off the bat, which may not be exactly fair. It took NECA years to finally lock in their build to something that worked.

I'd rather not with Hasbro either... especially after their "we wanna raise our profits 50%" announcement this week, and then proceed to lay off a bunch of employees right after.

Hasbro can focus on making good toys and care about their employees instead, and then maybe I'll be in with them.

Quote from: Still Collating... on Oct 09, 2022, 02:00:15 PMStone Heart has been out already for a few days/weeks.

Huh? Are there in hand photos of this? I don't think it's hit any shelves or shipped yet. Could you share where you've seen this? And they just released a bunch of Fireteam Elite Xenomorphs, so those are new.

I understand the frustration, NECA was pretty much built on Aliens and Predators. But I'd say to not get much hope in them for future releases. TMNT is one of the biggest money makers in toys since the 90s and probably is doing very well for NECA, but they've also focused on a lot of other things at once too. It's not just TMNT regardless of what your opinion says. Just because you yourself aren't interested, doesn't mean that others aren't into whatever line they announce. I'm personally stoked for their new Robocop line, ET and DINOSAURS! TV show line that are upcoming.

I've heard through the grapevine that NECA may be winding down on the Aliens and Predators, and the current trend seems to prove that. Won't say much more than that. But like I said previously, don't get hopes up for much more unless some things change behind the scenes.

I'd rather not have McFarlane in the line again. They have had some of the worst QC lately, they can't pose well and or locked to a predetermined pose. They all have side eyes too, which Todd seems to think looks cool. Seriously scroll through collector twitter and see them constantly bashing most of what McFarlane makes. There's a reason why McFarlane is all over shelves all the time.

NECA had a very good run, even with their quality issues too. But maybe it's time for someone else to take the throne.
  13. Still Collating...
Stone Heart has been out already for a few days/weeks. So literally nothing new. No new Aliens. No new Predators that we haven't seen or don't know about already. Their coverage of these lines has been pathetic these past few years...
I'm not so sure that it's licensing issues as much as it's their lack of interest anymore. They're focusing on the stupid turtles and don't have time for anything else anymore really. They're just showing mostly silly lines that I personally have no interest in.

I'm wishing more and more that McFarlane would take over the line. They'll be in the same scale as the Neca figs, their articulation is just as good, and they have been making a lot of figures and a lot of lines lately.

Neca has been neglecting the Alien and Predator line more and more. Even though they said previously that those lines were their top selling lines. I know that things have probably changed, TMNT is certainly at the top now, but I can't imagine that the Alien and Predator lines have dropped so much as to warrant this kind of neglect...
  14. SiL
What "proper division"? Drones vs Warriors was a fan idea to explain domes vs ridges; games, comics and novels can't agree on any of it, and movies never show more than one type of Alien.
  15. SuperiorIronman
It could easily be that the cover art if taken literally is from a prior incident since we never see an encounter during it. And if something happened they'd probably send the cyborgs in to handle it. 26 years between the last known Xenomorph outbreak and the game would give them ample time to have had a break out. I don't think we ever found out when Stone Heart was captured so the art could be depicting something pre-2030.

The domes being rigid and smooth would be a continuity error, buuuut the creature isn't consistent between appearances outright. So the smooth dome might be a case of whatever batch Hunter had at the time where Scarface fought the rigid ones. Or it could be a case where Scarface fought exclusively warriors and Stone Heart faced off with some drones. The game had a single model so the hive might've been more diverse than the game let on.
  16. PAS
I hate how they shove Aliens into everything Predator, and you can't use the Borgia Xenos excuse for this one, Stone Heart wasn't alive when they were freed and they have a complete different design
  17. The Shuriken
Quote from: SuperiorIronman on Oct 07, 2022, 10:26:38 PMKind of irritated they announced and showed photos of a Rob Zombie Muensters figure but we have no idea if they're doing feral despite having a Predator line.

We know they are doing Feral. The problem is that any info on it has completely stopped. Back in August it was confirmed and seemed like the toy was going to be fully revealed shorty after the movie came out. But it didn't happen. It's all gone silent.

Quote from: Mike's Monsters on Oct 07, 2022, 08:13:47 PMI might be going to NYCC tomorrow if I'm not still fighting this mini cold or flu I've got. I'm going to ask them in person if they have any news or updates coming if I make it there.

Can you ask a non Feral Predator question for me? Or two, or you could pick one

    1. How come they didn't make toys from Hunting Grounds?

    2. Might they make Dark Blade Clan Scarface Predator to pair with Stone Heart?
  19. The Shuriken
Something must be up behind the scenes. My assumption. NECA seemed pretty confident that they were going to show the figure shorty after the movie released. But here we are 2 months later. Curious.
  20. SuperiorIronman
What's weirder to me is that Hunting Grounds had a Prey tie-in before Neca. Yeah the helmet is oversized, but it still had one. I really hope it doesn't go the way of Wolf cause I'd certainly like to not rely on customs to get one in scale.
