Most definitely.
You could also build a home theater and get a better enjoyment without those aholes "who dont turn off their phone
or people talking in the middle of a movie"
Fair points. That setup sounds nice. I'm slowly building my own (I've got a beautiful OLED TV but it's a bit small at 55"). Sound system and a good quality 4K player is next.
Fair points as well.
I agree that I get really annoyed with the talkative types in cinemas (luckily I get time during the week to see films at quieter times). Also we've got some good cinema deals locally so we're not forking out $AUD21-25 for a ticket rather $AUD10-12.
Candy prices? Yep. Will never forgot filling up a bucket or assorted sweets and getting told it was close to $30
I kinda agree.
Both. Home viewing on a high end large OLED and a surround system is better than the Cinema, since I have everything set up to focus on my seat and the contrast and brightness is higher in quality.
Unless you're sitting in a proper IMAX cinema, you won't get that deep black and sharpness.
The cinema is about the experience of the movies, but I think at this point in time the right gear has caught up and even surpassed it in some areas.
The last time I remember being wowed by a movie at the Cinema was actually Prometheus in 3D.
there is always that ahole who dont turn off their phone
or people talking in the middel of the movie
and dont get me started on the ticket prices and what the candy cost
so i say home is the best place to watch movies.
I'm curious @Highland and this is no slight on you either... do you prefer the home viewing as it's superior quality vs cinema or just the experience as a whole?
Personally even the best home system for me doesn't offer me the same `escape' experience going to the movies does.
Either way like you I'm super pumped for tomorrow night's viewing at home :-)
It's going to stream in 4K, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Super pumped, my viewing of this at home will be better than the cinema could have provided.
Glad you had a good time!
We were guests of a friend who was invited by the Disney/Hulu folks. The line fiasco at the Comic-Con event was unpleasant but some who couldn't get in were offered this instead.
Nice! I wanted to go to this. Did you get tickets or just show up?

I supposed it just gets on my nerves the way some people behave. Super critical and negative about anything and everything and it's honestly got exhausting now. Rather than be excited by the prospect of a decent predator film for once they want to try and bring it down with negativity. It's such a shame. I suppose that's what happens when you get too many hit and miss films. People go into herd mentality and think everything after will be bad and dismiss it.
You guys have always had a sound judgment in your critiques imo. That's how I know I can trust you guys with what you're saying.
Thanks for the review and making me smile the other day. Hearing it was kickass was like the best present all year. Looking forward to hearing Aaron's take on it this week.
Peace out.
We appreciate you!
I personally make these videos and praise what I love to push back against all of the negativity we see online these days. I try to make an entertaining, but honest piece of visual content that will inform other fans how someone like them may have be able to view the media.
I also absolutely understand that not everyone thinks like I do, and won't vibe with what I make or have to say. The ones who can discuss it like adults are worth and deserve my time. The trolls are just jealous that they aren't in my shoes, doing what I do, or are just very angry people that should go to therapy so they can stop being so hurt by a woman being in their Predator film. Especially when it is about what a Predator looks like. Or anything of the sort in their favorite franchises.
Thank you for speaking for us!
But the toxic train is really starting to bug me now. We finally get a great film by the looks of things, and people are already trying to write it off, all because of a female lead. It's really sad how toxic things have gotten.
I dread to see how terminator and alien would play out, if it came out now..
Me too actually. First of two times in this film, second one being Nebraska sacrificing himself. That's not much for a whole movie though.
Hey, I felt something when that happened !
Beautiful and very natural. Everything felt grounded and real, some points feel like they called back to Predator. But is very much it's own cinematography and it's own visual voice. You can tell they were really out there in the woods.
In thirty years exactly.
Maybe wait until you see the movie to know if we were overhyped. I said this has been a Predator story I've wanted for my entire life as a fan, and I got it. So I think that it may be that I just liked the movie, and a little more than the very fantastic Predator 2 with it being what I've wanted for a very long time.
It seems like people are taking the comments of it being as good, or the best sequel the wrong way. It doesn't make Predator 2 a bad movie, it doesn't lower it's quality. Predator 2 is still amazing, but Prey is it's own movie and story that I can absolutely say I loved. Is it a bad thing if the movie is as good; or maybe better than Predator 2? That's super silly to me if people think that a new movie in our franchise can't be as good as what we got before. And if you watched the video, I said Predator 2 is my favorite Predator movie. Just some things for you to think on.
I've always wanted to see a period piece with Predator vs samurai. It just makes sense. 3 sparks was one of my favorite short stories in the "if it bleeds" predator anthology.
I love the concept of a warrior haunted by his victim or his past and it's a predator who has become obsessed with its prey. I can just imagine it. The samurai sitting in front of a fire, hearing the voice of his most recent enemy. Or the samurai is resting and he hears his house door open and the sound of footsteps along the floor. Slowly driving him towards insanity. Sign me up.
- Is the infrared vison the classic one or something new?
- Is the music bombastic and primal like Alan Silvestris?
- Are there any spine rip or trophy making scenes?
- Is the medikit used?
- Do the mandibles close:)?
This has exponentially built my anticipation for the film and I can't wait until the 5th.
I would love that. Sort of like the great Kurosawa's, 'Throne of Blood' meets predator.
Great idea.
That's how I think people should experience this!!!
