Alongside the official release of Prey’s full trailer and a new poster, a new interview with director Dan Trachtenberg and producer Jhane Myers shared by ComicBook.com reveals that Prey will also debut with a dub in the Comanche language, subtitled in English!
“We do have like Comanche throughout the film, but when you first choose to watch the film, this will be the first time that the Comanche language, and I’m Comanche, by the way, this will be the first time that our language is in a full dub and also subtitled for the whole film. So that’s really important to me and the language component’s very important because this will also be the first time that a film has been completely (dubbed). You get the option of watching it in Comanche on a brand new film. I know that Navajo has done it twice, with Star Wars, but Star Wars was 30 years old when that came out, Finding Nemo was 20 years old. But here we are, this movie resets a whole lot of paradigms, and one of them is the language component.”
The original cast will be return to record the dub in Comanche. A lot of the members at Alien vs. Predator Galaxy had been hoping to see the film’s dialogue spoken entirely in the Comanche’s native tongue, so news of the dub is very welcome! Thanks to BlazinBlueReview for the heads up about this news.
In a separate interview with ComicBook.com, Trachtenberg and Myers also stated that the original intent was to the film Prey entirely in Comanche!
Trachtenberg and Myers also confirmed that originally the film was going to be in Comanche entirely, and though it isn’t the film will make movie history and at launch be available in the Comanche language in both subtitles and dubbed audio tracks.

Not ideal but will probably still go with the Commanche dub...as listening to the Eng in the trailer was quite jarring to me
Yep, this. Original actors provided the dub, but it is still nonetheless a dub recorded after the fact.
I guess they also had the same feelings at some point that some of us fans had - that it would look weird(ish) in American accents.
I think it's more of an Easter egg, like Logan in black and white.
Awwwww f**king hell. Totally forgot the meaning of the word "dub".
That is not quite as impressive...but oh well.
They didn't do that. The full Comanche version is a dub.
but im sticking with the english version.
I hope the dub is of good quality, because the project really seems like it deserves it...
I mean, what's the point? I might've understood if they had spoken in Comanche and were dubbed in English, to dial up movie's authenticity. But the other way around just seems weird to me
Would be cool if they released a dubbed version of the trailer, to compare/contrast.
Their mouths move in English, comanche comes out.
Pretty cool, although would have been mighty impressive if they duplicated the scenes.
Normally, when the term 'dub' is used, it denotes a translation from the original language into a foreign language audio track.
Presumably, since they speak in English in the trailer, this means that Prey was recorded in English and will have Comanche dubbed over it. This seems kinda backwards to me. I'd prefer if the whole film was in Comanche with subtitles, or just in recorded English. To have it recorded in English, dubbed in Comanche, and then subbed in English seems bass-ackwards to me.
Then again, they might have recorded in both Comanche and English and I might be completely wrong.
I'll probably watch it in English just so I'm not constantly distracted by people's mouths not matching their words.
