NECA Aliens: Fireteam Elite Series 1 Announced!

Unless this is a cruel April Fool’s (it’s not, they’re confirmed coming!), NECA has just announced their first series of figures from the Cold Iron Studios video game Aliens: Fireteam Elite. The two Xenomorphs featured in this series are the Runner and Prowler.

Set in the iconic Alien universe, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is the newest videogame to pit humans against Xenomorphs in a desperate fight to survive the hive.

NECA is pleased to present a line of detailed action figures depicting the aliens seen in the game. The first series includes Runner Alien and Prowler Alien, which stand almost 9 inches tall and have nearly 30 points of articulation. Both figures feature game-accurate sculpts and bendable tails.

“Series 1” makes us think we’ll possibly be seeing more figures by NECA from Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Personally I’d love to see a Spitter Xenomorph and Combat Synthetic.

The figures are slated for release in June, and pre-orders are now up on Big Bad Toy Store and Entertainment Earth.

A long overdue comparison, but somewhat flawed as it's not the original NECA version, as I have substantially simplified the sides of the head to attempt to make it more symmetrical overall and have done a lot of painting.
    https://i.imgur.com/xPEil4V.jpeg
Imo it only looks better for that as it was never accurate in the first place, but otherwise it's much the same, and for the purposes of comparison makes not much difference.
    https://i.imgur.com/YKuZg4g.jpeg
Here you can see they did not even get the head ridges right under the dome.
    https://i.imgur.com/atk0Si8.jpeg
Or the head shape in general...
    https://i.imgur.com/wb6sc9D.jpeg
Or the symmetry in the face, for context, that's Kotobukiya in the foreground featuring a highly accurate sculpt.

Does anyone know what scale the neca alien figures are in? They just say 7 inch scale, but what is the true scale? Ripley was 180cm irl and her figure is 17,8cm tall so 1:10 I get it to.
Parker seem same from my calculations, but I suck at math so could be wrong xD
    Maybe someone here know? :)
  4. bobcunk
I don't think the dome looks off on the ultimate one but I do find it odd that the arms and legs are asymmetrical, i thought they used the wrong ones until i saw thats how its supposed to be, I just got it from a comic book store and thought it may be a bootleg but I don't think it is. I still had to put it in hot water and scrap the glaze out of the joints and push the shoulders together and the arm so the had stays on ( you should not have to do things like this, Iv never had an issue from McFarlane yet) This new one looks cheaper and cartoonish but is almost $50 and no accessories.
  5. BlueMarsalis79
Yeah it looks substantially more egregious in that guy's review than in promotional pictures, but knowing NECA's quality control standards some will have issues and some will not, luckily the separation between the dome and top of the mouth's something easily fixed with a bit of Vallejo water texture acrylic.

I did the same for their Alien Covenant figures in the past.

I'm fully aware you should not have to, especially for the price point here, but I'm just glad it's the one thing instead of multiple issues in the sculpt itself and the other stuff I have previously listed.

    Here's photos for comparison:

I'd rather have something symmetrical myself.

The yellowed blobby teeth, mediocre paint, inaccuracies in the sculpt and the lopsided dome spoiled their film version long before this one got out the door.

I will take a slight overbite and higher price point over all of that.
  7. Xenomrph
To my eye, the dome looks fine.

I am also a big fan of Alien.

If you think it looks bad, you are welcome to your opinion.

Edit— if you want, I'll keep my preorder for the Prowler/Runner pair and then sell you the Runner for like $35 plus shipping.

This offer stands for anyone else as well.
  8. BlueMarsalis79
I think I'm a big fan of Alien.

As such I'd like a figure of this design in this scale.

This being the only one to exist leaves me with not a lot of choice in the matter.

Especially when their film figure's way more irritating to me personally in what it misses the mark on.

The dome symmetry's the baseline for something being even acceptable and it did not even manage that much.
  9. Xenomrph
Yeah it, like, ruins the figure for me. That and the small size, lackluster paint, and high price point have killed my interest in the figure stone-cold dead.  "Accurate to the game model" or not, it just looks worse than the Runner we have.
  10. Xenomrph
Even with that shitty overbite? The video I linked doesn't seem to show that.

New NECA figure still looks bad. NECA wants $35-$42 for that thing, get the f**k outta here with that shit lmao.

Quote from: BlueMarsalis79 on Jun 05, 2022, 01:19:30 AMUtter nonsense. It's literally the Fireteam Elite model. Which's gorgeous.

This blows nearly all of NECA's previous Alien offerings out of the water and it is the definitive action figure of the Runner.

And the rest of them are the sizes they ought to be, other media representations can take a hike frankly, the Warriors were always too stocky even in Aliens itself and often too small in most other things, they are actually finally as big and lean as they always should have looked. As for the Dragon the size's of it is massively inconsistent even within Alien³ as it appears in from scene to scene.

Have you watched any reviews? Judge death got me, the details are nice (though not perfect, I'll get back to that), but the size difference is crazy huge, more then any inconsistency in Alien 3. She says in the film, an 8ft creature. This guy won't be close compared to the marines. Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIbRvjDAcYA
The size comparison starts at 7:09, that will look ridiculous compared to other humans and aliens as well. And look from 8:45 to 9:00 and tell me that long neck and face close up doesn't look ridiculous with that overbite?

I have no problem making the warriors bigger, but when you do that and then make the runners smaller, it looks ridiculous in the game. Not to mention in the game that the drone is noticeably smaller that the warrior whereas I personally think the difference should've been smaller or non existent, but that's less of an issue. The game has beautiful models, but the proportional sizing is really off IMO. I was looking forward to the runner, but seeing how small he is, he really won't fit in with my collection. And the long neck looks silly, if it's not possible enough, I won't even be able to pose the creature well. When you add to that the fact I'm still salty Neca gave these new runners single jointed elbows, I do feel disappointed, especially when there has been so little news for alien figures.

The sculpt is beautiful, but the proportions are very weird to me.

Yyyyyyyyyikes, that thing does not look good. That overbite is bonkers, it looks radically better in the promo/box photos than it does in that video, the paint job (or seeming lack of it) is really lackluster, and the small size at the same price point as the larger figures is a huge turn-off. I'll take the existing Runner (which I really like) over that thing any day of the week. The existing NECA Runner looks more like the in-game Fireteam Elite model than that thing does.

Thank you for posting that video, that got me to cancel my preorder. Hopefully the Prowler turns out better.

Edit-- looks like the only way to order the Prowler from Entertainment Earth is as a set with the Runner, and BBTS has the individual ones marked up pretty heavily. I'm not sure if I'm better off keeping my preorder for the set and then trying to flip the Runner on eBay or something.

Edit again-- Honest to god when I saw the thumbnail for that review video I thought I was looking at the Lanard Toys Alien Runner at first. What a f**king mess.

How come only Big Chap got upgraded teeth sculpt for the Ultimate series? The Ultimate Dog and Warrior aliens both have their original semi-blobby teeth, I recently got my Ultimate Big Chap and on hand its teeth are well defined and sharp.
  13. judge death
I like the size of the humans and the aliens neca has released, runner and drone/warrior is a good size. :P So to me the fireteam elite runner that is half of the original runner in size is too small, but will get it anyway and be able to compare them but the marines will dwarf it. xD
  14. Still Collating...
I just really hope that this new runner when it's standing upright, that it won't be the same height as the Neca marines... I'll wait and see.

Fair enough if you people like smaller aliens for other collections or as a standalone piece. We'll agree to disagree, I personally like my aliens big and of similar scale to each other. I'll see how future reviews show the figure (waiting for D Amazing to make a video on this creature, as an expert figure poser, if he can't pose this creature well, no one can) and after that I'll decide if I'll get this beast.

The advantage of their figures was that the sculpt was really nice even though not perfect, they had a varied lineup, and they were large and cheap. With their prices going up and up, I'm sad that we're getting less of a figure plastic wise for more money than before... But if they make that huge AFE Praetorian, all is forgiven! The reused Alien Isolation xenomorph called the Defiance Praetorian with the ugly and inaccurate head does not count.
  15. [cancerblack]
I will point out that the previous Neca Runners have been on the comically large size (seriously, if you take advantage of those long elegant legs to do interesting, non crouchy poses, it ends up more like 11-12 feet tall in-scale), so this being much smaller isn't really so terrible.
  16. PAS
I'll be honest, I never liked how Neca's Aliens and Pred scaled with their humans, they always seemed oversized, so this is kind of a plus to me
  17. BlueMarsalis79
I have seen it, and NECA's always had it's stuff on the larger size, and apart from the W-Y Commandos their humans have always been subpar.

For me it will scale perfectly with Kotobukiya's Alien stuff, and the MAFEX Alien so I am overjoyed.

It does not look ridiculous it looks great, I will take the slight overbite over their film versions being complete pieces of shit and inaccurate in every respect only worth it perhaps for the accessories sometimes.

This looks good because they are not doing the sculpting themselves this go around, and single elbows on the arms I can deal with when it can actually pose the far more important legs this time.

I think he is pointing at the size and not details of the figure. Well we have in the books clear sizes of each one of them, the warrior is same size as the drone and what we saw in Aliens and Alien movies, most suit scenes in alien 3 and scenes to me make it nearly as big as the drone. Aliens fireteam elite also adapt the xenos to fit the role they have in the game so wouldnt take that games as correct, hell its still a arcade shoter game like dead or alive games...
Could check the books but Im too tired now. xD

I will have to wait until I get my hands on those, but so far no store in Sweden sells them yet....
