While originally scheduled for release last August, the Predator comic offerings from Marvel were subjected to an extended delay during the copyright legal battle between original Predator screenwriters the Thomas Brothers and Disney. Thankfully, with the lawsuit seemingly resolved for now, we have a bit of news on the Predator comic front!
The May 2022 solicitations for Marvel have been released, and within them we have a listing for the massive first volume of Marvel’s reprinting of the original Dark Horse Predator comics. Marvel’s Predator: The Original Years Omnibus Vol. 1 is now scheduled to drop on September 14th, sharing the 35th anniversary year with the original film.

As pictured above we have the standard cover of the book with new artwork by Iban Coello, and the direct market variant featuring the classic artwork by Chris Warner. The book comes with an RRP/MSRP of $125.00.
All of these comics listed have been collected before in previous Dark Horse releases, so no first time recollections with this one. Though, if the new Alien omnibus releases are anything to go by, this collection will be an impressive offering for those looking to have an updated format or dive into these original comics for the first time.
For those of you wondering about the entirely new Predator comics produced by Marvel, the writer of the upcoming series Ed Brisson delivered a positive update in his newsletter:
“A lot of you have been reaching out, asking for updates on PREDATOR. I haven’t been able to say much beyond “We’re still working on it.” Right now, the answer remains the same, but…not for long. Very shortly, I should have some news for everyone on this front.”

This is being resolicited in the March issue of Previews. So unless its an early pre solicitation. March items generally ship in May.

The 1032 page PREDATOR: THE ORIGINAL YEARS OMNIBUS VOL. 1 HC was originally set for a 2021 release, but it's now coming officially May 2022! That must mean the Predator series will soon follow, but stay tuned to AIPT as we'll report on that once we get more information."
