The Xenomorph & Ripley Arrive in Fortnite

Following the guest appearance of the Predator in the popular Battle Royale video game ‘Fortnite’, both the Alien and Ripley have also joined the ever expanding cast of characters.

The Xenomorph & Ripley Arrive in Fortnite
I believe this is the second time the Alien and Predator have guest starred together in another video game since Mortal Kombat X, and the first time Ripley has guest starred in another video game ever (unless you count the cosmetic tribute to her in 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare).

Promoting the cosmetic pack is a short trailer emulating a climactic scene from the second film:

Unlike the Predator skin and cosmetics which were unlocked through challenges for Battle Pass owners, the Xenomorph and Ripley are available for a limited time in the game’s item shop, along with a number of Alien themed cosmetics including a fantastic Jonesy cat box backpack.

The skins and cosmetics can be purchased with V-bucks individually or as part of the Ripley and Xenomorph Bundle, which includes an Alien Tail Back Bling (You can have the Alien with or without dorsal spines using this), the Weyland-Yutani Cat Carrier, Ripley Nostromo Crew Outfit Variant (her attire from the first film), and Xeno Menace built-in Emote.

The Xenomorph & Ripley Arrive in Fortnite
Here is the full press release from the Epic Games Fortnite Team

In space, no one can hear you scream. On the Island, everyone can you see you Emote.

Agent Jonesy’s search to find the best Hunters took a dark and stormy stop to LV-426. Now there’s good news… and bad news.

Bad news first? Surprising no one, a Xenomorph was able to sneak back with Jonesy. It has been described as the perfect organism. Its structural perfection matched only by its hostility. This menacing adversary comes equipped with both the Xenomorph Tail Back Bling and Xeno Menace built-in Emote.

Good news: Jonesy’s trip has delivered one of the greatest action heroes…  Ripley. If she can stand her ground against the deadly Xenomorphs, she can take on anything on the Island. In addition to having her Nostromo Crew Outfit variant, you’ll warrant attention with the Weyland-Yutani Cat Carrier (complete with Jonesy the Cat).

Before it’s game over, man, you can also get the Space Gear Bundle. This themed Bundle includes the P-500 Power Loader Arm Pickaxe, the Cheyenne Dropship Glider, and a new Emote that’s bursting on the scene.

Also offered is the additional Space Gear Bundle, which includes P-500 Power Loader Arm Pickaxe, the Cheyenne Dropship Glider, and a new ‘Burst Case Senario’ Emote

Ho boy…

you can snag the Ripley and Xenomorph bundle for 2,200 V-bucks and the Space Gear Bundle for 1,500 V-bucks. V-bucks are Fortnite’s in-game currency which can be purchased via the Epic Games Store.

Before the official announcement. the Alien’s appearance in Fortnite was leaked just the other day. There were also some official teases with a Fortnite transmission via their official Twitter, as well as a portal discovered in game leading to the halls of the Hadley’s Hope Colony.

I think we don't give children enough credit, they are a lot more mature then we think, just think back to when you were a kid and realise that your not that much different and your thoughts ate the same. I think exposing children to more mature subjects is a good thing and maybe it can desensitize them so they won't be so offended by little things. I see so many many kids today that are way to sheltered, my generation grew up watching r rated horror films from the 80s and shows like southpark from the 90s do how the hell did we get to were we are now when you you can ask someone what time it is and they accuse you of being racist or sexual harrassment?  I don't think it's silly to have a dancing alien, I would be upset if they did it in an alien movie but it's a multiplayer deathmatch game, I think they should include real people like Charles Manson and hitler,  they don't have to be bad either have mr. Roger's (I doubt they could get the rights) or even Jesus and Muhammad.

My gripe isn't specific to Alien but the movie references in general, mainly I feel that if Fortnite didn't have all this it wouldn't be as popular and might even potentially be as obscure as so many other Battle Royale games that emerged from the craze of the time. Yea, it has skins of things I like, but the base experience doesn't do anything for me.

Beyond that though it's nothing that could ever enrage me or something, I just stick to my own little corner of the sandbox.

I will admit, those new Lanard 7" figures are pretty cool, got some for the boys and ended up getting some for me too, I hope they do another series but actually finish the paint on the predators

Yeah I have no problem with the inclusion here, it'll be a good introduction to the younger crowd to the franchise.

Sure a dancing Xenomorph is pretty silly, but I think everyone understands that all the guest appearances in Fortnite are not representative of the vibe of those respective franchises. I mean they had Deadpool and John Wick in the game also. I had my introduction with the Kenner toys which were definitely more geared to kids than the franchise itself is.

This was pretty cool, someone built the a Nostromo map in the Fortnite Creative Mode:

Yes, maybe getting mad and gatekeeping is going a little overboard, I can also see why fans would be more tongue-in-cheek upset when seeing their favorite creatures devolved to a goofy fortnite skin instead of being featured in something cool like mortal Kombat

The context though, of aliens and predators running around like humans with giant popsicles and pickaxes while building a bridge for no real reason isn't the same as watching the movie when you were 11 or buying alien action figures as a kid 🤷‍♂️
Obviously, but that doesnt make it bad, the same applies to every other character in that game, it's a silly game, that's it, there is no need to get mad or gatekeep over it

Aliens being marketed for kids is not something new, we've had kenner toys, dark horse comics that came with those, mobile games such as AvP Evolution and Alien vs Pinball, and AvP was even rated pg 13 so that it could attract younger folk, playing Fortnite with the Pred or Alien skin always gets a "they are so cool but scary/ugly" reaction from my teammates, and I've had more than one kid say they went to watch the original Predator movie because of the Predator event.
I got introduced to this franchise because of the AvP movie, I was barely 6 at the time and I loved it, (now not so much as my nitpicks of Adis designs would suggest), I see absolutely no reason to complain about this because even tho I don't like Fortnite too much, it's just a game, and I'm glad that in this small crossover there is so much fan service to the older fans and respect to the franchise, they even got the Pred face anatomy right! (Which is more than MKX did to both of them)

That announcement trailer is pretty cool.
Best piece of Alien content we got since 2014

    Lmao f**k off honestly

    (Slightly mean but c'mon)
You are right, Alien Ore and Alien Specimen came after that haha, jokes aside, the trailer is really well done, wish the Alien would get a Archeron drone style tho

Ah, that explains it. Facebook is generally atrocious anyways, I've had mine deactivated for about 6 months now. I don't think I was super active on AVP Galaxy, but I was on Alien gateway station (whatever it was called) and there was some cool stuff on there sometimes, but it mostly seemed like alien fans perpetually shitting on eachother lol. I still have insta, and this forum is pretty cool.

Don't get me wrong, aliens dancing in the correct context is pure jubilation, and maybe if fortnite had created alien and predator characters that had relative abilities and controls, or made them computer AI and actually act like aliens and predators instead of just being skins, they would be more appealing. Fortnite dancing is considerably less hypnotic than lost tribe dancing

I don't think anyone is really losing any sleep over it lol, taking an iconic horror character and a creature that's an allegory to male rape and throwing it in some bubble gum video game made for kids, and then making a big deal out of it is just really goofy.I don't think I've seen any comments here indicating that anybody hates kids, the complaints are against the fortnite platform turning xenomorphs into dancing pricks with pinata chest burster llamas

These forums are more grown up than the Facebook comment sections, it's the Facebook folk who are definitely kicking up a fuss about it & complaining that it's too "kiddified"!

All I'll ask: is a dancing Xenomorph really anything new when for 30 years we've seen Predators dancing in the the behind the scenes of Predator 2? They're going back to their roots ;)

    @voodoo

The main goal of gentrification is appeal to the masses. I mean I hope this peaks interest for a lot of kids and they end up exploring alien and predator, sure. I just watched a video of someone playing wearing the alien skin, carrying a giant popsicle hopping around a forest while the YouTube gamer shouts "omg omg this is so cool" haha, fortnite is the Minecraft of multiplayer shooters and It's easy to see why most AVP Galaxy fans don't get off to it.

From my pov, the masses don't see this allegory, hence why something like this is possible.

I don't play Fortnite myself but looking at the comments on the AvPGalaxy Facebook page and in the AvPG Facebook group you'd have thought that Disney jettisoned the franchise out of the airlock  ::)

I bet half of the franchise fans saw these movies when they were the same age as some of the Fortnite kids they seem to hate and they grew up fine (besides the aggressively hating children part)! I saw AvP when I was 11 and got really into the franchise because the monster designs were so cool - then I crashed onto these boards at a probably too young age.

If even one person sees Alien and Predator in Fortnite then decides to read Marvel's new comics or get into the movies and give the franchise more love and money then I consider it a complete win. Nothing bad can come from this at all in my book.

As an epic gamer I feel I have the legal obligation to say that fortnite is the LAST place to want alien. The game is a bunch of 9 year olds raging over a game nobody plays anymore. They're also gonna be like "ItS tHe AlIeN fRoM fOrTnItE"

I would check YouTube. Adults o' plenty are playing this game too and seem to be having a blast with it. I was late to the party myself, jumped in for a Predator check out, yet came out enjoying the battle royal solo matches.

And I would dial back just a bit on that nobody plays it anymore angle.  :) You'll still find it sitting pretty.

For me, I like the exposure it brings Predator and Alien. I see this as only a good thing.  :)

They forgot the pulse rifle though.

I felt this way even more about the Predator's plasma caster!

I didn't have time to play them but I purchased the Alien & Ripley skins/"outfits" and took a quick look, and I must say I'm pretty happy with them!  :)

While Fortnite would've been the last place I'd expect this to happen it's not the worst thing. People become fans a myriad of different ways. Some people come from the toys, comics, novels, or games. Not everyone comes from the movies due to how niche they are and how irregularly they come out. If Fortnite is somebodies introduction to Alien or Predator then so be it.

I doubt those assets will go unused, we can expect an Aliens event down the line, maybe even a Queen boss

So, Ripley had to retreat from the hive and abandon Newt?  :o
Seems to be an alternate timeline, there was a reality log that came 2 days ago from Jonesy (the blonde Fortnite guy), and it said he joined the Nostromo crew, seeing how the Jonesy cat is involved and he is a Colonial Marine in the trailer, seems like he messed with the timeline alot, just like how when he was looking for other Hunters the Predator from the first Pred movie followed him, lmao.

    "Ho boy" Is right.

Do my fellow 25-30+ years olds not show young kids in your life (cousins, siblings, etc) 'adult' movies like Robocop, Predator, and Aliens anymore??? Is this how kids discover this stuff now? YOU ALL HAVE FAILED.
