NECA Reveals Alien 40th Anniversary Series 4 Figures

NECA have announced the fourth set of figures in the Alien 40th Anniversary line. Ripley, based on the likeness of Sigourney Weaver, returns in her compression suit which was previously released in Aliens Series 4. Lambert in her compression suit is the next figure, based on Veronica Cartwright.

Lambert was previously released in Aliens Series 11. Ripley and Lambert aren’t re-releases though – they’ve both been given “photoreal” heads. The last figure in the line is Big Chap but it has a greyish colouring to match Giger’s early concept design. There’s also a Facehugger accessory with that one.

Each figure will be packaged in a 40th Anniversary Kenner inspired window box and is due to be released in May 2021. Which do you prefer with Ripley and Lambert – the old heads or the new photoreal ones?

Series 3 of the line was supposed to be released a few months ago but has seemingly been delayed. That one is going to feature Ash and Kane for the first time with the actors’ likeness. Big Chap was going to be the other figure in Series 3 which looks like a re-release.

Series 1? Nice, so more are possible. I guess this is what was taking forever to get approved. Surprised they redid the whole dog alien for this! Like the sculpt, though I'll need to see it in reviews first. Now I know why the cougar had newly sculpted legs, it was for reuse in these figures. Maybe they'll redo the drone and warrior? That would be cool, not to mention the Praetorian or Crusher would be an instant buy for me. I'd flip if they do the marines but I doubt that'll happen. But single jointed elbows? Really? Why are we going backwards with articulation? It took forever to get the double joint to Big Chap, now they're going back? And don't tell me it's for support for being on all fours. The heavy Rhino xeno had double jointed elbows. Is it cost related reasons? Too busy with their stupid TMNT line to throw some money at the Alien or Predator line?

They could easily release a ultimate version of the AVPR warrior if they wanted, they did in fact with the so called sewer alien that is that figure repainted brown, and has way more articulation. Just need to repaint it.

I still have that one and the predalien one, but they are more statues and yes they are expensive like hell to get hold of now.

They released Wolf and the PredAlien 15 years ago.

An Ultimate was brought up and they still haven't released them. Not sure whose at fault for that be it the license holders or Neca themselves. But updated figures are long overdue. And it's not like the original figures are easy to get ahold of or as if they're incredibly articulated either. They're one of if not the first things they did and it shows. They can keep releasing repaints but wont try to move figures people keep asking for.
  4. Kane's other son
On one hand, I really want to get all the Nostromo crew. On the other hand, even if they did release all the figures, most of them would never reach stores around here. I still haven't found a flight suit Ripley.
  5. Gridseeker
Yep, me too, but thereĀ“s "Prey" coming, but who knows? Probably NECA will lost the rights of both Alien/Predator franchise. My biggest issue is we would never see an Ultimate version of the AVP requiem monster cast and no Apone or Drake figures. :-\
  6. BlueMarsalis79
You mean just like the Prometheus figures then?

Yeah and we'd actually get them, and their faces would be good, and wouldn't break immediately.

And still no Wolf or PredAlien after fifteen years now?

Time to give it to someone who gives a toss.
  7. dHunter333
Shocked they didn't complete the Nostromo crew in their non space suit outfits as they obviously have the likeness rights. They were trying to get a couple more Aliens marines out (Drake, Apone), but I guess it didn't work out...
The collection is absolutely fantastic, yes, but I want more!
I imagine they'll do figures off of the new show/movie if they happen.

We should allow them. They have been cranking them out for over 10 years. they have done  EVERYTHING and beyond:P
    I salute NECA.

Just wait to see who else grabs the opportunity to fill that market void.
Hiya has been killing it lately.

I just realized something, my Scorpion Alien didn't come with a minicomic. I know its official because I bought it at Target. Is that a common thing? I looked on eBay and it seems that some come with comics and don't. Was this a production change? Or did Neca's Wonder Quality Control strike again?

If the mini comics were printed by dark horse it might be because they lost the license.  Any new runs might not be able to use them.
do the bootleg comics still say printed in Canada? Was there ever a bootleg of the orange rhino  alien I have to from diferant stores ( that one order was canceled since it took almost a year to ship. Both lack the yellow dry brushing one their heads and the hip joints are black instead of orange. I've seen both versions in online reviews but I'm wondering if it's a bootleg. One was from a proper store the other was from an online tit store in Toronto.

Agree with your theory, and I'm also glad you brought up that most of the "knockoffs" come from the same moulds in the same factory being operated by the same people.

My Celtic knockoff is not made like the rest of my Neca figures, If it was in the same factory then this guy must have been cobbled together from scraps.
Read my comment: there are also the true knock offs, made not by the factory etc but made in their own whatever shed they use and use their own plastic to make them, those are the worst knock offs to get and falls apart easily and looks terrible. xD
  13. A_Sexual_Tyrannosaurus
Thanks for the replys. Yeah, I decided to pony up the cash and get the authentic figures for 2-3x MSRP/Knock-off price. Worth it, though, none of them have any bad paint jobs. And Mantis Alien is frickin amazing. I must've lucked out because all his limbs are sturdy (for now, still gonna get a stand for him) and he can hold all the poses I make, which I read was a problem as many people say he has loose joints.

QUESTION, is there any way to fix a loose inner-jaw??? The one for my Scorpion Alien is completely loose and flops all the way out if I just tilt the figure forward...
  14. judge death
Well depends but as some say: necas own paintjob and quality on their stuff is a hit or miss thing and depends heavily on who in the factory put it together and painted it. Some are painted very badly while some are really well painted.
From 6 of my aliens warriors from neca, 2 have a terrible paintjob, 2 acceptable level and 2 which looks like they should. Only 2 have good joints and are perfect, rest have imperfections....

The knock offs: Most of them are made in the same factory after they closed, by workers making extra molds and then put it together either there if no one sees them or at their homes. And same here: if the person making it is good then the knock off is very close to the real thing, but then there are those who make a ton of those knock offs and is lazy and you end up with bad knock offs....

Then you have the true knock offs: people who make their own copies of these and they are even worse.

    I also noticed:
Necas xenomorph figures and the more advanced figures often have worse quality than their more simple human figures where I havent encountered same amount of problems, my guess is they produce these figures in way too fast pace to allow those who work to take the proper time making them, and necas own quality control miss a lot, but thats a theory of mine.
  15. [cancerblack]
Maybe I've just had terrible luck, but I've got 11 NECA figures and the only one I'd consider to be acceptable quality on both assembly and paint is the 1/4 scale Predator Elder.

The two standard preds have atrociously misaligned paint and most of the Aliens have serious assembly issues (big gaps, outright glued joints - not just stiff or paint flooded, bent limbs that heating only fixes for a few minutes, etc) and really lousy paintwork.

And this is after having had the very worst offenders replaced (which had things like missing parts, four left handed dorsal tubes etc).
  16. 426Buddy
I have 17 neca figures and 1 knockoff celtic predator.

The paint job on the knockoff is far worse than any of my other figures. Also the materials it's made of seem to be of a cheaper quality

Not to say neca has good paint jobs, just that the fake one is noticeably worse.
  17. [cancerblack]
People keep saying that, but the paintjobs on most of my legit NECA Aliens have been dire. Really thick, gluggy paint obscuring detail and fusing joints etc. I've seen plenty of photos of knockoffs, some even posted here iirc, with better paint than at least half of my real ones.
  18. A_Sexual_Tyrannosaurus
Damn guys so I managed to snag a Scorpion Alien and Rhino Alien V1 that somehow sat unsold all this time at a Target. Now I want the whole Neca Kenner line of aliens (still not sure if I want the humans yet). I see that a few EBay places have the Queen Facehugger and Snake Alien for sale at almost MSRP, but they're from China. Do you guys think they're fake/knock-offs. And I can't find the Gorilla or Mantis Aliens anywhere for a decent price. Here's any other Target's/local comic shops near me might have them. Anyone else know where I might find them?

I'm never really keen on NECA's human figures. The likeness isn't quite there for me - or the QC on the likeness/paint.
Depends on the human. I liked their Ripley figures for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th movies, I like David although he isn't quite right, I like their Back to the Future 1955 Doc Brown figure, their Sin City figures were great, Vasquez, Burke, and Hudson are all great. Their Arnold figures (Commando, Predator, Terminator) have all been great. The newer Pinhead figure is fantastic.

They've had some misses though. Ash looks like Phil Collins for some reason, their Hicks never looked right to me, Amanda Ripley doesn't quite look like she does in the game (but she *does* look a little like Sigourney Weaver, which the game version didn't), MacReady from 'The Thing' isn't quite right

What I'm saying is that NECA human figures are a land of contrasts.
  20. Xenomrph
I'd buy Johner, then Call, then maybe Elgyn, and I'm not really interested in the others. Vriess might be neat but the only way to do him right is to give him the chair, and that would triple his price because of the volume of plastic needed to do it right.
