Free League have just announced a new expansion for Alien: The Roleplaying Game, the Colonial Marines Operations Manual! Where Free League have previously published an additional cinematic campaign in the way of Destroyer of Worlds, the Colonial Marines Operations Manual is a campaign module which further expands the lore in the corebook to allow Game Muthurs to expand on their own stories.
Armor piercing rounds sizzle through raw flesh as plasma beams sear swollen retinas. Acrid smoke chokes down your throat before you realize what’s burning is you. Chemical attacks melt your armor, simmer your eyeballs, and fuse your helmet to your skull, while bioweapons turn your insides out and pulp you into a quivering mound of black jelly.
Welcome to war on the razor edge of space, marine—where nukes are yesterday’s news, pulse rounds are cheap and a human life is only worth its weight in stock options. It’s a living hell—but none of that’s as bad as the flashes of gnashing metal teeth that terrorize you every time you try to close your eyes—like some monster just split your head open and crawled inside your dreams.
Sometimes you’ve gotta wonder what the hell it’s all for.
But no one pays you to ask why, only to follow orders. You’re just a grunt—no offense. So lock and load your pulse rifle, marine—you’ve got a job to do. Protect and serve the citizens and colonies of the Outer Rim colonies—no matter what the cost.
ALIEN RPG: Colonial Marines Operations Manualis a complete campaign module for the award-winning official ALIEN roleplaying game, written by sci-fi novelist Andrew E.C. Gaska and Paul Elliott. "We are thrilled to reveal Heart of Darkness, the upcoming new cinematic scenario for our multiple award-winning ALIEN roleplaying game.
ALIEN: Heart of Darkness is a stand-alone adventure, but also serves as a conclusion to the Draconis Strain Saga begun in the cinematic scenario Chariot of the Gods and continued in Destroyer of Worlds, all written by Andrew E.C Gaska. The expansion is designed for 3–5 players plus the Game Mother and is a spiraling descent into soul-crushing madness...
Heart of Darkness will come in a boxed set including a range of maps, cards, handouts, and pre-generated characters. (Please note - the ALIEN RPG Core Rulebook or Starter Set is required to play.)
Heart of Darkness will be offered in a pre-order and PDF pre-release on the official ALIEN RPG website later this winter, for a full physical retail release in the summer."

Ya I was surprised that they mentioned General Vaughn and her role in the frontier war considering how recently the Operations Manual came out. But I'm with you on this giving us that interconnected universe feel.
This right here somebody show this to gaska though it already probably a given he loves the Kenner toys
The only downside could be that they might not be able to include the Predalien or things like the Carrier or Ravager and others that appeared in an AVP context. So that wouldn't be too great. But regardless, if it was as comprehensive as possible it would still be a really cool expansion to have, both from a gaming and a lore standpoint.
Hope we get a proper adaption of starship troopers one day
I havent had the time yet to read any of the books 100%, will do somedya when I have the time...
I got the starter set along with the core rules as well. Even if you've already got the latter, the starter set still has a bunch of stuff that makes it worthwhile, like the custom dice, physical map, cards and Chariot of the Gods scenario etc.
Plus it's honestly just handy sometimes to have two copies of the rules laying around for reference when you're playing the game.

In earlier printed books known as an erratum. A printed sheet tipped in to later printings or if errors were discovered after printing but before released. A pdf is a better way if errors are known. That way anyone (hopefully) would have access to it.
That might make for a nice related topic to the literature section. Book or film errors.
Hmm I wonder if I can get a updated pdf now as they said they might change and fix typos and other stuff by the time they send out the physical book?

And well this book is the lore canon so UPP has the cheyenne dropship but different name is now canon no matter what we say or think now.
Is the Soviet Mig-28 not also identical to the USAF F-5?
Definitely a joke at the expense of the daft decision. But it's what Fox wanted the UPP dropship to look like in the comic, so it's what it looks like in the RPG I suppose.
