Patch 2.0 And Crossplay Invites Inbound! September’s Paid DLC Teased & New Map & Gamemode Coming September!

In a new post from Illfonic’s CEO Charles Brungardt on the PlayStation Blog, Brungardt has confirmed that August’s update is scheduled for the 28th, and we’ll be receiving the 2.0 patch. In addition to “quality of life bug fixes” patch 2.0 will see the implementation of the much anticipated crossplay invites!

And we have more! On August 28th, we will be dropping our 2.0 Patch. What does this mean? Well a few things: the game will have some quality of life bug fixes and the highly-requested crossplay with friends will be available. While we had hoped this would be in at launch, we are thrilled to make it happen now.

While we don’t yet know what’s in store for this month’s paid DLC (it will be announced next week), Brungardt did announce that August’s free content drop will include a brand new assault rifle, anti-cloak grenade and some other goodies!

We want to thank the community for their patience and support while we waded through the technical needs to make this happen. In addition, like every free update there are some great in-game items coming too. The Classic Combistick and Wrist Launcher from the City Hunter content is now unlockable to everyone; there is a large Fireteam Supply Drop including the OWLF Assault Rifle, the Anti-Cloaking Grenade, UAV Scanner, and the Self Revive Syrette; and a Field Locker Update with 3 new Predator Masks, a new Fireteam Ballistic Mask, and other new tints and shaders.

Patch 2.0 And Crossplay Invites Inbound! September's Paid DLC Teased & New Map & Gamemode Coming September!

And the news we’ve all been waiting for is here! Not just the wait on the news, but the wait on the content isn’t going to be long at all either. The new map and game-mode are coming next month!

As a part of this blog post, it was really important to the team that we shared a look ahead at the Free Update and Paid DLC schedule. We’ve seen the posts on social media and in the forums asking when we are dropping a new map and mode. While we cannot share the exact date yet, we wanted to give some transparency to the months you can expect to get these items – the new map and mode will both be in our September update!

And as a reminder, the map and mode are part of the Free Update, they are not Paid DLC. We think the community will really enjoy both, and we have more up our sleeves after these updates – so always come back to the forums and our social channels for updates. We will share all that we can as soon as we can!

Patch 2.0 And Crossplay Invites Inbound! September's Paid DLC Teased & New Map & Gamemode Coming September!

There’s no details on what to expect from the new map or the new mode, but the article did include the above tease of a gulley-type location from the new map! Along with the map tease, the article also included a hint of what September’s paid DLC will be with a very familiar silhouette…I think the safe money is on the Dutch ’87 class (which has previously leaked)!

Which reminds me, am I the only one who wants the original plasmacaster soundfx from the first film? The recent ones always sound like those $1 ray gun toy sounds.

That would definitely be cool, but lower on my personal list of issues I guess.  :)

Thats a very good unorthodox tactic as people would be used to engaging with a Pred in trees first and not for the one who just plasma showered you ground level behind a tree.

It enables you to use that advantage in third person when hiding behind a tree as a Predator. You can rotate your camera around and see 'em coming when the Fireteam cannot!

Thanks. This is helpful, I didn't know you could become FULLY invisible at all. I will definitely use this knowledge in future games. Problem is though, Samurai's cloak lasts about 20-25 seconds iirc so it's practically useless for long term engagements, and like you said it makes a noise the fireteam can hear whenever you decloak

Well that depends, do you thermal at the same time cuz that combo drains energy like crazy. I haven't used Samurai much so I didn't realize if cloaking time is low or not. I would supplement this weakness with the large extra energy battery or the perk that decreases cloaking energy consumption.

I never use the trees anymore as a Predator. I find it always leaves me too vulnerable. Landing upon or hiding behind rocks, hills and structures via lots of jumping has been my preferred m.o.

I crouch after shooting from treetop while I see Fireteam try and figure out where it came from before I sneak in another so even if they hit at my direction, less of a chance bullets will hit me as thats not where my head is at, thats just empty air lol.

Lmao. I basically ignore the cloak, I'm less hunter more warrior. I also Don't know how it works, people spot me while crouching anyway, so I just don't know

Movement will show the shimmer. Players already looking for you can also spot you before you stop and become fully invisible. Switching to thermal will also make a sound and cause your eyes to briefly glow which FT can also spot. Predator also makes sounds which can lead players right to you. It's always good to stay on the move when cloaked.

In my experience playing both FT and Predator they tend to be in the same spots anyhow so players will know to check certain locations ahead of time.

    Until you fireteam character falls....

Help me up man!  Come on!  I'm bleeding out!!!
Unfortunately your Fireteam character will never be ready for every single encounter. My sniper scout build is a strong one that sniped many Preds in their netted buttocks but there will always be a Pred out there that can find and gut me and even then I block/knife them so good that my team has a better advantage against it after my death.

Honestly the new Fireteam tools will really give an edge in matches as usually Preds win more often. Those stand still cloaked Preds now gotta be smarter with that tactic when the De-Cloaking Bomb hits the trees.

Guess I was right in a way, both update and DLC will come out at the same time. Wonder what the paid DLC is going to be? I hope its a new Fireteam class cuz its the cherry on the top with all this Fireteam love that the update is getting!

And as for the new gun:

Please...for the love of all that is Paya the conquering warrior.....

Let it be some kind of cool plasma weapon.....

A prototype plasma gun if it must be it! Looks just like ones in Terminator, please breathe life into me!

I mean this might seem like a small thing but I think it would be really cool if we could customize the Elder's armor and skin tone? like I feel like that should be here by now.

Quote from: SuperiorIronman on Aug 19, 2020, 03:11:41 PMSo Friday we will be receiving the 2.0 patch and next week we will be getting word on the paid DLC. The playstation store from what I understand updates on Tuesday so next week is probably the reveal along with launch. Dutch and new map for September but if I had to guess for August it might be an OWLF class. The OWLF gear seems like that'd be gearing up for it.

The blog post says the 28th for the patch and no paid DLC for this month. From the fact that they're giving away the classic combi-stick and wrist launcher this month rather than September like they initially said I'm guessing they fell behind with their release schedule and the map got pushed back.

Not gonna like, having to wait another month for a new map and making Dutch 87 paid DLC after we already bought the previous version kinda sucks. But at least we know when the map is coming now.......unless it gets pushed back again.

Still, the new stuff here does sound cool. An anti-cloaking grenade could be cool, and that OWLF rifle looks good too. And I'm looking forward to seeing those new masks.

And Hicks will finally be able to join us via PC instead of having to sully his hands with controller aiming at last!  :D

Article got updated, I posted before the change and they clarified it on Twitter. Article now has the 28th.

"Next week we will be revealing what you can expect from this month's Paid DLC. It is a good one! Until then, see you in the hunt!"

We will get a paid DLC according to the article so while the launch date has changed, this is still in the article.

Ah yeah I saw some people saying it originally said the 21st and not the 28th.

And you're right, I must have missed that it says this month's paid DLC at the end there. A bit weird that they wouldn't mention what it is in this post or even have "paid DLC 4" in the updated road map picture for this month rather than next. But either way I guess we'll find out next week.

87 Dutch was leaked and the shadow on the road map pretty much confirms he's going to be the paid DLC.

Ahh. Thanks SI. I knew about the leak but the shadow I missed. That's the clincher. The risks of reading this on a small smartphone.

    Dutch 87 paid DLC.  Weeee

Not an exact match though, based on the position of the head relative to the gun, but yeah, looks like Dutch.
