Patch 2.0 And Crossplay Invites Inbound! September’s Paid DLC Teased & New Map & Gamemode Coming September!

In a new post from Illfonic’s CEO Charles Brungardt on the PlayStation Blog, Brungardt has confirmed that August’s update is scheduled for the 28th, and we’ll be receiving the 2.0 patch. In addition to “quality of life bug fixes” patch 2.0 will see the implementation of the much anticipated crossplay invites!

And we have more! On August 28th, we will be dropping our 2.0 Patch. What does this mean? Well a few things: the game will have some quality of life bug fixes and the highly-requested crossplay with friends will be available. While we had hoped this would be in at launch, we are thrilled to make it happen now.

While we don’t yet know what’s in store for this month’s paid DLC (it will be announced next week), Brungardt did announce that August’s free content drop will include a brand new assault rifle, anti-cloak grenade and some other goodies!

We want to thank the community for their patience and support while we waded through the technical needs to make this happen. In addition, like every free update there are some great in-game items coming too. The Classic Combistick and Wrist Launcher from the City Hunter content is now unlockable to everyone; there is a large Fireteam Supply Drop including the OWLF Assault Rifle, the Anti-Cloaking Grenade, UAV Scanner, and the Self Revive Syrette; and a Field Locker Update with 3 new Predator Masks, a new Fireteam Ballistic Mask, and other new tints and shaders.

Patch 2.0 And Crossplay Invites Inbound! September's Paid DLC Teased & New Map & Gamemode Coming September!

And the news we’ve all been waiting for is here! Not just the wait on the news, but the wait on the content isn’t going to be long at all either. The new map and game-mode are coming next month!

As a part of this blog post, it was really important to the team that we shared a look ahead at the Free Update and Paid DLC schedule. We’ve seen the posts on social media and in the forums asking when we are dropping a new map and mode. While we cannot share the exact date yet, we wanted to give some transparency to the months you can expect to get these items – the new map and mode will both be in our September update!

And as a reminder, the map and mode are part of the Free Update, they are not Paid DLC. We think the community will really enjoy both, and we have more up our sleeves after these updates – so always come back to the forums and our social channels for updates. We will share all that we can as soon as we can!

Patch 2.0 And Crossplay Invites Inbound! September's Paid DLC Teased & New Map & Gamemode Coming September!

There’s no details on what to expect from the new map or the new mode, but the article did include the above tease of a gulley-type location from the new map! Along with the map tease, the article also included a hint of what September’s paid DLC will be with a very familiar silhouette…I think the safe money is on the Dutch ’87 class (which has previously leaked)!

I wouldn't say they don't hold up. At least Celtic and Wolf I see having a lot of fans and all things considered Celtic wasn't in AVP that long as opposed to Scar.

I will say the armor design caught on though as to this day I can still see people gravitate to that as opposed to the other styles and it influencing some modern ones like the Berserker in Hunting Grounds definitely taking notes from it.

Well celtic never took the mask off 🙃 and Wolf was missing half his face, plus he was in the dark. Agree on the armor though, and I like wolf myself everything about him, I'd say him and fugitive are good examples of ADI being competent, as well as the queen.

Don’t wanna be negative but as long as we’re throwing ADI under the bus, it’s a red flag when 1/6 scale or Neca figures have to “fix” the designs in the film. They’re Predator and Aliens just don’t hold up on screen. Their best work in either franchise was Alien 3 and Chet.

Forgot about the Queen in AVP, that was awesome!

If Scar ends up in the game, who do you think the 3D modelers will look to, the movie or Hot Toys?

I don't think they are gonna be painfully accurate, they weren't with the Elder and Greyback, they also use somewhat stylized graphics, so scar would probably be like what they have now or the hit toys but I imagine when he roars he'll do the full mandible stretch.

But yeah. I hope they go for the hot toys

Scar looks fine when he's otherwise determined or angry (which is what Neca's roaring heads seem to be based off of). The face really works then but the problem is really that he was meant to emote and connect with the audience which he does too well. In other shots he looks fine barring personal preferences but the first time we really get to see him without a mask and he comes off as being a bit too nice looking. The Predator is one of those characters where it just feels wrong to see "smile" if that makes sense. For me it's kind of the difference between Savage and Professor Hulks.

No, you hit it on the head. They are a species of hunters and killers. They are carnivores, they are instinctual monsters from outer-space.

Scar was literally too human. There is no other way to describe it, the brows, the eye contact, the entire demeanor was too passive, it wasn't like an alien like a monster, which is the problem.

It's funny too, because he's so INHUMAN early on when kills the guys at the pyramid and growls at Weyland he's so predatory, then he becomes so vulnerable with Lex, almost gives me whiplash

the only AVP pred that looked moderately decent was the ancient, and I think that's partly because he had so much new stuff going on with his face like the extra quills and the engraved tusks, he also had somewhat of diagonal eyebrows which adds to the inhuman look, I also just appreciate the tribal ornamentation enough to give it somewhat of a pass.

Scar looked like a wet blob

To this day I still wonder why his lower lip looks like it was torn off. It's not visible on any other design but here it looks like he just lost part of his face

Hot Toys redeemed Scar with their action figure. Redesigned the face to look much better.

Yeah, they even made the Mandible Full extension roar thing he does kinda cool. I actually think that it looks good on the toy instead of the movie where it kinda looks like he's breaking his jaw to roar.

Though I give points to AVPR because that roar seemed better and more natural, but it might have been because I couldn't see most of it  :P

When long jumping, instead of hovering in the air after hitting an object, a little monkey bar action to get past the tree branch would be nice or anything other then floating for a second and falling. More climbing and crawling and swinging and hanging movements.

Heyheyhey, don't get us wrong, we've been getting monstrosities like the AvP preds for years, we are used to this routine okay

Were the AVP Preds that bad? I didn't like how the mandibles were placed super loose sure but they looked kind of neat.

I've asked myself that question many times, my friend

Ugly brows, human eyes, terribly ugly mouth, and of course, mandibles are there as if they were a cool detail, not part of it's anatomy

I'm glad they didn't just wait until the next content update to put a patch out for these issues like they did with City Hunter and all the bugs that were introduced with him. I haven't had a chance to play it again since this patch though, so have the crashes actually been fixed? Or is it even more of a dumpster fire than it has been this past week?

Have to say I rather enjoying the new Dutch and the Mercenary weapon. I do feel like it's a colossal waste not having new "old" lines from the movie, but I think in-game he actually looks fantastic. The M16 was huge fun. Definitely a close quarters weapon, but has a very nice feel to it.

I am definitely ready for that new map and mode though.

is anyone else having trouble getting the game to work? I'm on level 150 and it goes to the screen where you start the match then quits..It will only work if I log in as another user and start at level 1
  16. SuperiorIronman
He definitely looks better in-game then he does in menus or the promo.

The Mercenary rifle seems like it's meant to be used at close range. Sort of a close quarters equivalent to the Hammerhead though I'm only saying that as it lacks any kind of scope. Otherwise it plays roughly the same just no scopes. I feel like the Mercenary rifle would work better with 2025 though I'm not 100% if buffs stack. Taking advantage of hipfire though you'd probably need a ammo pack.

Dutch 87 is about as good as Dutch 2025. Basically Accuracy is traded for damage and duration for a damage resistance. 87 though has more stamina and less gear so I'd say 87 isn't bad but if you're used to 2025 you're not going to get much out of him.

If he has new lines I haven't heard them so he sounds roughly the same.

    That one ?

Yep!  Hmm. That looks better than I remember it. The biomask sure looks better than Illfonic's Ducky Hunter, that's for certain.

    Darn. Retracting statement in 3....2.....1....

I crash rarely as well. I hardly play as a City Hunter so maybe there's a connection but I'm not experiencing that fortunately.

In an unbelievable turn of events they "fixed" City Hunter's roar; by swapping it out with a different one that's also broken!

His new one is one of the main roars from the AVP PC games, only this time it cuts off halfway through, so not only does it just sound weird but he's also left doing the animation with no sound.

I was surprised to see they replaced the old roar with a worse one. All they had to do was take away the syringe injection sound. I don't understand how anyone listened to that and thought it was a good idea to put it as the new roar. Not only does it sound weak, but like you said, the sound drops dramatically making it sound worse. I was hoping they would try and use the roar city hunter made before getting struck by lightning. Always loved that scene because of it.

    This 100 times over!

I mean come on Illfonic. You screw up the City Hunter roar the first time maybe you can claim ignorance. But when you screw up the roar the second time, and your remedy... your fix for the first mistake is a roar that lasts only 30% of the animation, it is just a sloppy effort. It all feels lazy and like someone is not taking any pride in their work. All they had to do is cut off the medical syringe noise of the first roar and soften it up in the beginning and boom - fixed. Instead you replace broke with even more broken.

Sad you don't wanna play as city hunter voodoo.  :(

Good lord it's even worse in that scene. Seeing this constant sloppy/lazy work from illfonic keeps me from even considering getting this game one day. I planned on holding out until they finally added the content this game needed on release, but if they can't even get something as simple as this done right, then I think it's time for me to forget about this game.
