2015 saw the release of one of, if not the, best Predator fanfilms in James Bushe’s Predator: Dark Ages. And now Dark Ages’ writer and director (who we had the pleasure of chatting to) is returning to Predator fanfilms as the director of the upcoming Predator: Akuma!
Akuma will be a period piece set in feudal Japan that not only pits the Predator against the Samurai, but the Ninja as well! While Bushe will be directing, he will not be taking up scripting duties. He will be directing from a script by writer and producer Sam Ibrahim.
When we start our story a young Samurai is recounting the events of a vicious attack in the pursuit of a new enemy, only known to them as The Shadow (Ninja). Not only must they battle ninja but both factions get caught in the crosshairs of an unknown enemy, only believed to be folklore and myth over the last fifty years. A bedtime story to scare the children. Only know as AKUMA (Devil/Demon).
Ibrahim’s background includes editing but prior to this he created fan trailers online. After receiving some attention for his fan trailers (X-Men 2 & Batman Forever), Ibrahim now edits film trailers professionally and even landed him the gig editing the trailer for the 30th Anniversary re-release of Predator!
Like Predator: Dark Ages did, Akuma will be looking to the community to help raise funds for the budget via Kickstarter. Details of the campaign have not yet been announced but will likely be later on in the year. Until then, Ibrahim’s has released a “proof of concept” trailer so you can get a feel of what they’re aiming to accomplish with Predator: Akuma!
You can follow Predator: Akuma on most of the usual social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube – to keep informed on the upcoming Predator fanfilm! And if for some mad reason you haven’t already checked out Predator: Dark Ages, you can find that below!

As for the fan film, I'm looking forward to it!

I felt bad for the Chinese audience. The posters promised an action movie with an epic showdown between the Fugitive and Upgrade. I can only imagine how disappointed they were during the school execution.
Even The Predator posters from China demonstrated how much more interesting the movie could have been.

I hope they make a unique looking Predator for this one. I like to see variety in my Yautja.
