AvP Galaxy Competition – Aliens vs. Predator: Hot Landing Zone!

We would just like to thank everyone who entered the competition! Unfortunately, there could only be two winners! And they are Tracy Williams and Joseph Guilar! Emails have been sent requesting shipping addresses. Once again, we’d also like to thank Prodos Games for providing our community with a chance to win their new releases!

If you entered but didn’t win and would like to purchase the expansion, Aliens vs. Predator: Hot Landing Zone is currently due for release on the 21st of January and is available for pre-order for £39.99. The multipart Cloaked Predators are also available to order separately during the pre-order period for £30.

Aliens vs. Predator Galaxy and Prodos Games are teaming up to give the AvP Galaxy community a chance to win the recently announced Aliens vs. Predator: Hot Landing Zone expansion and cloaked Predator miniatures! We’ve got two sets of Hot Landing Zone and the special pre-order cloaked Predators up for grabs!

The jungle is calling, time to respond

“Through a combination of luck and advanced engineering, parts of the USCSS Theseus survived its crash on the planet’s surface. Scattered across the planet’s dense jungles, compartments of the ship containing personnel or material survived. Against all odds, the planet’s atmosphere proved breathable for humans, and unfortunately for the survivors, other life forms.”

AvP Hot Landing Zone is first major expansion for AvP The Hunt Begins boardgame. It features new gameplay environment, new models, new campaign, new ruleset and much more. But most important, it introduces the Cheyenne Dropship as a part of gameplay.

QuoteThis month brings a completely new set of Predators heavily inspired by the movies . All of them come straight from the Hot Landing Zone rulebook and introduce weapons and equipment previously not released.

Okay so memory vs resource material didn't match up so here is the base for my new Blazer Gun.

Also I snipped the Tracker of the base (only two breaks in the whip) so he could be added to a clear base (pinned for painting purposes). His claw goes around the handle of the spear gun but still needs a little detailing before he has the Stalker Predator vibe I want.

Trying to find compatible parts to turn a Predator into a Vanguard Predator. So far I've chopped the helmet of the base of the elder Predator, torso of a Space Marine Tartaros Terminator and shoulder pads are closest bits I have found.

I'm using the more armoured young bloods as a base for the Hydra/Blazer Predators and just trying to locate parts for a bigger back Shoulder cannon for the Blazer.

      Pics!  ;D

Ask and you shall receive!  Kind of anyways, started work on the Blazer with his Blazer Plasmacaster being made mostly from an old Dark Eldar weapon.
Really cringey moment cutting the dreads but I want the Soilder preds as close as possible to the game models.

Still waiting on my Hot Landing Zone, but at least I managed to get some replacement parts for a Stalker that broke when I got the original box set (They even sent two Stalkers to replace it!) and tokens that had been mis-printed.

I received my Predator Gunship from eBay today and it's a big heavy kit, took a size comparison with a Cloaked Predator and the hunting bike as it's meant to be able to carry a few of them. Needs a tiny bit of TLC otherwise nice centrepiece kit.

That's a pretty nice custom piece!

I just want to thank y'all for providing photos of this stuff. I don't dare get into another miniatures game after all the money I spent back on the old Star Wars one, so it's nice to live vicariously through you guys! :)

I have received my copy and it seems great, love the tracker miniature. Focus is on the clear Preds atm, I am hoping to get a free week end soon to dive in and assemble my 1500 points of Predators. Just put up some pics of my Falcon Drone conversion next to him and think he is going to stand out nicely.

Only problem we found was that the quick reference says you get a -2 penalty per MODEL when shooting through an Engaged Tile, while the book specifies -2 penalty per Engaged Tile you're shooting through.

I'm struggling to find the link I downloaded these from to give credit where it's due! The guy's name is on it, though. Found this invaluable to getting started and referring to.

Finally got to play the game properly.

Did two play-throughs of the first mission. Marines and Aliens turned into a slaughterhouse in one corner of the map leaving the Predators to play cleanup and win the game. Predator player never got a scratch on them; marines couldn't complete a single objective.

Second playthrough, one Predator dead by turn 2 or 3 and the other one down to one wound; marine player got a few lucky dice and card combos and managed to complete their objectives before I could run them down as the Aliens.

Really enjoyed it! Had to download some quickstart guides cos holy shit the rules are laid out in the worst way, but other than that, it was fun.

I usually buy more than what I can paint at a time but I'm pretty prolific when it comes to painting, considering I paint on a semi-professional level. I play Warmachine/Hordes and that's led me to liking mini games and I paint my friends models and stuff for a fair price.

A challenge for me has been painting all my Aliens consistently in the same style and I find irregularities in some models sometimes but I guess that's not a bad thing.

Yeah, same. My units to be painted are mounting up. I've just not been in the mood.  :-\

Don't end up like me guys, while they aren't minis from this game I have all these Warhammer skeletons to finish...and this isn't even including the ghost part of the army

Part of the reason I haven't bought any of these kits yet is because I don't want to add more to the painting pile  :'(

If there's interest I'd be happy to film a series of videos about setup, basic rules, going through a complete game turn, special and mission rules, etc.

That'd be awesome! I cannot really afford to go down that rabbit hole of starting to collect these (cause I won't be able to stop), but I really do like seeing playthroughs of these table top games, and sadly there are very little of them so far.

I need to read the updated rules. I haven't played since the 1st Ed rules.  :-\

Can't get any of my friends to play. They're not real fans of the rules. So I've just spent all my time painting them lol.

I saw where Prodos released a hardcover rule-book. Is that the updated rules or something else?

QuoteThe second edition was a much better improvement on the first. The hardback book was for the Wargame rules. But all mode rules are available for download on their website.

Oh nice. Thanks Hicks. Have you tried the Wargame rules?

There's a good video on YouTube where someone has just set up a super simple hallway with all three factions and goes through the basics of gameplay.

A recorded playthrough of the game would be pretty sweet...  ;)

It's something Shevvie and I have talked about. Just not too sure on how to edit it together.

I tried playing all three species at once. Obviously the tactics were largely non-existent (it's hard to keep track of three decks of strat cards -- who knew!), but I was pleasantly surprised by the Aliens not being completely torn to pieces before getting their claws into people.

I've got a considerable workload I'm looking at on my table of unpainted models. It just keeps piling up.  :-\

One of my New Year's resolutions is to only buy new stuff when all the old minis are done  ;D

I don't know how much of the pople here are into the Prodos game, but maybe we can make a new thread for pics of painted and/or converted minis like the NECA one for customs. To get some inspiration and/or get jealous :P
