Hunting Each Other – Extended The Predator Clip

20th Century Fox have released an extended clip of the moment we’ve all seen in the trailers where the Upgrade Predator throws the Fugitive onto the car.

This new clip is our first look at the Predator’s actually communicating with each other. It’s still edited slightly so it’s not exactly how it appears in the finished film. Thanks to germanator2 for the link.

Yea but then a normal dude with a plain steel knife managed to stab the f**ker. Although I thought he actually broke his wrist blades by hitting them with a forearm whack.  ???

I can't recall exactly but I assume he'd lose the ability to keep his armour on with all that flame going off.
Good point, that has to be factored in.
Ah so fire beats armor... wait I thought it grew an exoskeleton?

I think the intention is that he knew he couldn't beat or escape from Sir Roids-A-Lot, so he opted for a final 'f**k You' before going out. When he broke the wristblades and got slammed again (and I agree, that noise was tragic :'( ) it was almost like he was saying "This was supposed to be a lot cooler... My ancestors are gonna be pissed."

Maybe...it seemed like prior to breaking his wrist blades, he thought maybe he could put up a decent fight. And then when that didn't work, he'd go out in a blaze of glory or get in one last hurrah. That noise though  :'(

True. Could it have been the fire that had an affect on his skin armor?

At any rate I still think it is b.s. that Fugitive didn't fallback and regroup. Honorable death or not, it becomes a death wish at a certain point. Plus he was on a mission which is why he was running from the get-go.

Yeah, to me it seemed like a cheap out of character move to make the Fugitive look pansy in comparison to the Upgrade. He was on a mission to get his shit back and run, not do a wrestling match with the big guy. If staying in character, would he really have compromised "the mission" by staying and fighting someone who completely outmatched him? Even for a Predator, I find that hard to believe.

It's justa good question, what that "mission" was, given that he already delivered the package. He didn't stay out of character, for he never really had one, unfortunately. The only point in that scene was showing how big and bad the upgrade is.

You might have a point there. At this time in the story, was the mission already completed? What was the ultimate goal for him at this point?

About the predator speech, I thought it would have been presented rather something organic, not some robotic sound. Maybe the pgrade has somecybernetic in it, who knows.

So instead of step back he go full retarded agains him,  while with humans he go arround jumping... The  fight was pacted, he had to loose, even if we know that he could beat him or give more fight
  7. yautjapet
I wouldn't say he let Upgrade kill him without fighting - Fugitive shot him, and when that failed he charged and took a swing at him even though he surely must have known it was futile and he was outmatched. He was probably so stunned from being slammed violently into the car that there wasn't much he could do to pick himself back up before being sadly pummeled. I cringed at the sound he made when Upgrade grabbed his throat... :'(
  8. Naginata
To be fair, it does seem a very 'Predator' thing to do. When it doubt, SHOOT. Missed? STAB.

My favorite thing about this scene is how absolutely miserable Fugitive looks after he's been slammed into the car. You can practically hear him going "oowwwwww..."

The writers wanted the Fugitive to get killed to make the Upgrade look good. They don't care about it making sense or not. Its just bad writing.

Didn't Fugitive try and stab Upgrade but the wrist blades snapped? If that's what happened, and I hope it was, that's a good way to show Upgrade is a tough son of a beach, and Fugitive's skills weren't lacking. It's just that Upgrade's genetics were superior. Is that what happened? I can't remember.

They did snapped but still, that fight should have been more close. The humans put up a better fight than the Predator. He tried to shot him with a plasma cannon...once  :P Was he out of juice or what?

That fight was so anticlimactic and fast, is was really a wasted opportunity. They could have made it more fierce, two skilled warriors fighting to the death, with the humans looking at it with awe.

Man I thought Fugitive was going to go all Elfin Lied on the base team but instead just went a Little Rambo... oh man I was sooo hoping he was going to rip off Munns head while invisible and then use her body as a meat shield. If that happened this would have been the movie of the year.

Didn't know whether to put this under spoilers or not. They did officially release this clip so it's not like they were hiding until the release of the movie. But the Predators actually do speak with their own language. Color me intrigued. In all seriousness though, I think it's cool to finally see it speak its own native tongue. It probably would have been weird to see it talking to each other in the English language. it's a cool way too with a mix of clicks and growls in it and makes me wonder what it would have been like if they kept the three other Predators and if we'd see them communicating with each other in their own language.

there are spoilers in the trailers but I dont consider it a spoiler if its officially released. I think spoilers are only scenes that are meant to be a surprise.

How the f**k could he miss, look at the size of the target. What the hell? And people said Wolf was blind, at least he missed against a running alien a couple meters from him.
    he went to stormtrooper bootcamp.

It's a shame that Fugitive is the only normal Predator in the movie.
The best Predator design since the first, and it's completely wasted, now all it will be remembered for is getting it's head ripped off.

What?! I know this is subjective,  but you need to get yours eyes checked. The best designs still come from the first two movies. This iron man crap predator is not anderson AVP bad but it is second to worst design.

I want to see Predator 5 with Dutch, Harrigan, Royce and Quinn captured and put to the ultimate survival on the Predator home world. We haven't seen any of these characters since there first outing and this is a great opportunity to bring them all back and make a really badass movie.

Not just no, but he'll no! You wanna talk about more bad ideas, this one is up there with the movie now in theaters.

    From what I recall.....

    Spoiler
....four times. Once on Upgrade's ship before he lands (I think he's saying he's located Fugitive, but I can't remember exactly because it's pretty brief), once in this scene talking to Fugitive that you see here, once as the same scene ends when he's presumably communicating with his allies telling them "traitor eliminated" and that he's still searching for "the cargo", to which they respond "human leads, if any?" and he looks at the Loonies escaping and says "several", then once more after he's entered Fugitive's ship and uses the humans' translator to speak to everyone outside (we hear the speech in English, but see Predator text being translated on a monitor as he's talking).

Predator violence has got to stop. If he talked things out instead of firing that big gun.
Let us hope the next predator film will focus on environmental issues, strong female rights, white privilege and global warming.
