Updated: New Predator Trailer Captured During TV Airing!

Well that was sooner than expected. A new trailer for The Predator has just aired on TV during the NBA Finals and was recorded by Nick of Hybrid Network. Another recording was captured by YouTube Member Krusty Aiden.

This new trailer gives us some extended versions of scenes we saw in the first teaser trailer, a new close up of a Predator unmasked, as well as our first look at the genetically-altered monstrosity that has been referred to as the “Upgrade” Predator. The larger Predator pummels the smaller one into a vehicle.

Check out the handheld recording as well as some screen-grabs below.

So the predators hunting disabled vets? yikes.
Mental illness is absolutely not synonymous with mental disability.

Mac is one of my favorite characters and I'd consider him mentally unhinged after Blain died, exhibiting signs of detachment, agitation/irritability, self-destructive behavior, possibly insomnia (all signs of ptsd).

I thought his dynamic with the group plus his ultimate fate was incredibly interesting to see unfold.

Seeing a couple of characters with similar traits funneled through different personalities is interesting to me, so I'm looking forward to it 👍

    Agreed and good points.

They seem to be keeping any footage of Thomas Jane from the trailers kind of makes me wonder what they have up their sleeve with him, especially if his character is supposed to be the most unhinged.

He's supposed to have tourette syndrome, i wonder if they will use this aspect to some comedic ends with his character, that wouldn't surprise me witih Shane Black. Also he's supposed to be an alien conspirationist of some sort lol, while his buddy Keegan Michael Key is a sceptic. I can't wait to see the dynamic between the two, one of Black's trademarks !

Tourettes? I look forward to hearing some absurd, Eric Cartman like comments coming from his mouth then! Then I hope a Predator mimics him.  ;D

I think the most interesting thing about this movie will definitely be how the ensemble works together, especially the Loonies.  Hopefully they won't go the cliche route of portraying psych as "oh, everyone has poor impulse control and is loud" etc, etc.  That would be disappointing :-\

I'm sure we'll get more of the Loonies in the next trailer. However the star of the movie is The Predator so they'll probably focus on the aliens in marketing and we'll get plenty of great moments in the film once it's released. Unless they ruin everything in the trailers.

I would be nice get finally get an official version of the 2nd trailer in proper HD instead of the crap quality one that's available now.

See, it's not even right to call this "second trailer' a trailer. It's not, really. It's a TV spot, and from what Hicks said, it's exclusive to the NBA event so we won't be getting another version of it until maybe the blu-ray release as an extra feature.

I gotta imagine the next true trailer is on the way pretty soon though.

During that big final battle too. You could have all kinds of stuff going on with the Loonies in terms of seeing things, or suffering the shakes or breaking down, relieving what they experienced. Over come the monsters of their own personal demons.

    Spoiler
Exactly. Hell maybe it could even lead to one or two of their deaths because they get such bad anxiety or flashbacks to whatever screwed then up to begin with. That could be some pretty powerful stuff.

None of them are physically disabled, they suffer from PTSD mostly. The only ones who appear to be suffering the most from PTSD are Coyle and Baxley. (Thomas Jane and Keegan's characters).

I hope they do more with it though. They're just portrayed as these crackpot soldiers who laugh and crack jokes. It would be interesting if they do a little more with the PTSD element while they engage in battle against the Predators.

It's what the soldiers call themselves. (Holbrook, Jane, KMK, Alfie Allen, Trevante Rhodes, and Augosto Aguilera's characters.)

It also acts as an homage/nod of sorts to "The Goonies."

They're ex-military suffering from mental health issues, so that is why it makes sense too.

The impression I get from the trailer seeing as how they are all dressed the same in the clip where Mckenna tells them about the alien and a bit later when the guy in the red shirt gets pulled out through the rear window of the bus by a predator is, that there's more than plenty of good reason for them to accept Mckenna's story.
  14. frenchfries
another question. So Holbrooks character is the sole survivor of a team that first encounters the captured but then he meets the rest of the loonies (this is an impression I am getting from the trailers) how do the rest of the loonies get drag into the conflict.

Yeah I'm actually really excited about the casting as well. Seems like they're a fun crew and I already think this movie will be better than Predators because of the actors involved (as well as the risky writing). The loonies idea seems fun and unique. Thomas Jane I'm looking forward to the most but I'm loving Holbrook's lines and presence in the trailers, I feel like they made a great decision with him as the lead.

I feel very good about how the Loonies will be portrayed in this movie. The cast he assembled is so talented. I'm glad he didn't go after A-List actors and went for more seasoned character actors or up and coming TV stars.
Yeah while back before Boyd Holbrook, Sterling K. Brown,Thomas Jane and Trevante got casted was nothing about people crying about getting the biggest A-List of a cast, sorry, but I'm happy with this one

To be fair, reports were put out there that Black was looking for some big stars to fill out the roles. And remember, Benicio was cast before he dropped out of the role. This led many to assume we were gonna be getting some big stars. However I am very happy with the cast we have. It's harder to imagine people like Matt Damon or The Rock become their characters when you only see the actor for stars of their level.
Oh I remember, I aslo remember when James Franco was being rumored, Ben Affleck, (Tom Hardy was definitely being cast...smh), Del Toro had to back out due to his schedule, oh and let's not forget all the rumors of The Rock, like you I'm happy with the cast and I'm stoked for this movie

I actually would've been content with all of those choices.  Not that I mind going the non-A list route, but getting a big name actor or several could have added a little more oomph.  That being said, I'm totally fine with Holbrook, I'm happy with what I've seen so far in the trailer/teaser and much of the casting in general.

I almost wonder if that script was leaked on purpose at times to piss off some of the die-hard Predator fans

Yeah, because generating negative buzz about your movie is always a good idea.

Reynolds leaked the script and test footage of Deadpool to embarass Fox into action and to get a grass roots hype machine going. It worked big time.

I see no gain in trying "to piss off some of the die-hard Predator fans." That's your core audience. The long time fans who spend money on Predator merch, see the movie five times, and buy the dvd, blu-ray, streaming edition, the digital deluxe supreme ultra edition, the figures, hats, t-shirts.

So no, I doubt that. Leaked intentionally to get some feelers from their audience? Sure, that happens, but they wouldn't do it just to piss off their audience. You know why? Also it wasn't a widespread leak. It's only been a small group of people who have read it at this point.

Yeah, and the character Thomas Jane plays is a f**king nutty, grumpy, rough, borderline psychotic, most likely alcoholic, estranged black sheep Uncle. So he's basically playing himself  [emoji23]

I just felt like once the Loonies start dying it's like none of them cared. I hope they make these guys feel more like a brotherhood. In the introduction scene of the Loonies they seem to have some history from their time in the looney bin but once they start biting it not one of them mentions anything. Nebraska's death in particular is so anticlimactic because he literally gets engulfed in flames in front of McKenna and he doesn't he even react to it.

In the introduction scene of the Loonies they seem to have some history from their time in the looney bin but once they start biting it not one of them mentions anything. Nebraska's death in particular is so anticlimactic because he literally gets engulfed in flames in front of McKenna and he doesn't he even react to it.

Nebraska's death should (could ?) change honestly, it felt underwhelming in the script. Some other deaths are cool, but weird also, precisely the one Baxley have... How can you kill someone by tearing his skin off lol ? I mean from a technical point of view how does a spider pred achieve that ? It felt really rushed out and inaccurate. For Coyle also. And Nettles's death isn't even described ! I'm really intrigued by how it will play out during the movie, and i do believe that some deaths have changed in some extent, and will be more developed.

I'll admit I tend to be unimpressed with forced, over-the-top one-liners and gags - I've been to a number of movies where the theater around me is howling with laughter while I'm only occasionally cracking a smile - but I'm not humorless! I just like a more natural, relaxed, deadpan kind of humor, and from what we've seen from the two trailers so far, I've not too worried about corny jokes. Preferences aside, I think this movie especially isn't the place for it.

I'm looking forward to Key and Jane's banter. They have a fun dynamic in the script.

Yeah, and the character Thomas Jane plays is a f**king nutty, grumpy, rough, borderline psychotic, most likely alcoholic, estranged black sheep Uncle. So he's basically playing himself

They did have some great banter though. One issue I had though.. SPOILERS BELOW.
