Yesterday we shared an article in which the CEO of 20th Century Fox, Stacey Snider, spoke little about the future of the Alien franchise. In the same interview with Variety, Stacey Snider also talked a little about The Predator and her thoughts on Shane Black and Fred Dekker’s script!
“We’ve got a “Predator” film coming out that is unexpected and utterly fresh. I just imagined that it would take 500 hours to read the script — that it would be interior jungle, exterior more jungle and then fighting happens, but Emma [Watts] went out and recruited Shane Black. From the first page, it didn’t read like a “Predator” film. It’s set in suburbia. There’s a little boy and his dad at the center of the action.”
Snider describes the film as being set in “suburbia” and this has been something that Shane Black has gone on record as saying is not the case. Through our own sources, Alien vs. Predator Galaxy can also confirm that while some of the film does take place in suburbia locations, the film as a whole certainly doesn’t all take place there. We’re in store for a nice variety of locations.
While we’re in that period of information drought before the marketing ramps up, many of The Predator’s cast have been dropping the occasional comment about how The Predator wasn’t simply a retread of the original Predator.
Keegan-Michael Key spoke about The Predator back in July, describing it as a “real privilege to do” and how fans who went in to see The Predator expecting a remake were in for “a very pleasant surprise.”
