Updated: Alien Day 2017 – Giveaways, Merchandise, Cinema Roundup

Ah, yes, it’s that time of year again – Alien Day is here once again! 4-26 – the reference to the planet LV-426 that our characters land on in Alien. Throughout the day there’ll be competitions to take part in as well lots of exclusive Alien merchandise to buy. The main highlight is a global live stream event from Fox Studios that will feature a Q&A with cast members of Alien Covenant. To round off the day, cinema chains across the globe will be showing the original Alien. In the UK, we can purchase an ‘Alien super ticket’ to see a double bill of Prometheus and Alien tonight as well as a preview of Alien Covenant on May 11th.

Global Live Stream Event

• There’ll be a special one-hour live streaming event from Fox Studios Los Angeles that will feature a Q&A with various cast members from Alien Covenant and there’ll some exclusive new footage from the movie too. The winner of the Alien Fan Art contest will be announced too and the winner will find their artwork printed on an exclusive T-Shirt to be given away with the Alien Covenant blu-ray set. The live stream event starts at 10AM PST or 6PM UK Time.

Madame Tussauds

• Some time in the Summer, the wax museum Madame Tussauds in London will be unveiling something special. They’ll be putting out a short trailer of whatever it is at some point today.

YouTube Space London

• There’ll be an event at YouTube Space London where people  can attend an Alien-themed party with an art gallery, music and live demonstrations. There’ll be a Google Hangout with some Alien Covenant cast members and you’ll be able to watch a screening of Prometheus. I gather this is invite only but our very own staff member Xenomorphine will be there live-blogging the event.

Competitions

• UK: HeyUGuys is giving away three merchandise packs for Alien Covenant.
• UK & Some EU Countries: Eaglemoss is giving one winner a chance to go the red carpet premiere of Alien Covenant. Runners up will receive various merchandise items.
• UK: Forbidden Planet is giving away a Alien Day bundle to one lucky winner. Three runners up will also get some Alien merchandise such as a T-shirts and books.
• US: MU/TH/UR of all ALIEN Trivia Challenges – Fox will unveil a new quiz every 4 hours and 26 minutes and fans will be able to answer a series of questions for a chance to win a VIP trip to Ridley Scott’s upcoming Imprint Ceremony at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood as well as various prizes.
• UK: HMV are offering tickets to the London premiere of Alien: Covenant.
• UK: Titan Books are giving away Alien Supertickets for a showing of Alien and Prometheus tonight with an early viewing of Alien: Covenant on the 11th.

Merchandise

• The second audio book drama – Alien: The River of Pain is now available to buy on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com or as part of your free trial with Audible.
• Limited Edition Alien Mondo cards – exclusive to Walmart. You get a card with certain 20th Century Fox blu-rays or get the set of four if you opt for the Alien Quadrilogy blu-ray set. You also get a discount on an Alien Covenant ticket.
• Sideshow Collectables have taken the wraps off the Alien Internecivus Raptus statue. It’s limited to 2000 units and is on sale for $450.
• Mondo have various merchandise for order including a 4XLP of Jerry Goldsmith’s Alien score with some funky artwork from Tyler Stout, as well as some T-shirts and enamel pins. This cool looking Alien poster is also available.
• NECA has released another Alien Day exclusive action figure. 2017’s figure is a tribute to the older Kenner Private Vasquez figure.
• Empire have published its very first Virtual Reality themed magazine that is limited to 10,000 copies. It will feature a cardboard virtual reality set that you can put your smartphone into. You can find the magazine at select Sainsbury’s stores across the UK.
• The first issue from the new Alien comic book series from Dark Horse – Aliens: Dead Orbit is out today. The story takes place on a Weyland-Yutani fuelling depot where an engineering officer must survive with limited supplies against a horde of Xenomorphs.
• Corporal Hicks has written a review of the Scar Predator figure from Eaglemoss. Those guys are still bringing out various Alien figure statues over the coming months.
• Super 7 is joining in on the Alien Day fun with a 3.75-inch ReAction Figure Blind Box.

Cinema

• US – Certain RPX Regal Cinema theatres in the US will be showing a special screening of the original Alien tonight as well as some exclusive footage from Alien Covenant.
• UK – A special screening of Prometheus and Alien will be happening at Odeon, Vue and Cineworld theatres across the UK tonight. Again there’ll be some exclusive Alien Covenant footage and you can use the same a ‘Alien super ticket’ for an advance screening of Alien Covenant on May 11th. Both me and Hicks will be heading off tonight to watch the movies.
