Can anyone tell me what the game is like in terms of enemy AI and difficulty after this patch?

Thinking about re-purchasing it second hand.

    Thanks

Don't bother, it's just a small improvement nothing more, also i just read at GBX forums that the visuals will stay the same and i just regret that i didn't immediately sold it and waited for a update fix.

    Yeah this, http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=261352&page=2

To say the consoles can't handle the "memory requirements of the PC texture update" is just another BS excuse from GBX imo. Just about every single FPS game from 2007 to this very minute look better than ACM, especially in the texture dept. From COD: Modern Warfare to Battlefield(all) and so on. Even if the "PC textures" are not something that can be done on consoles, some sort of texture/lighting update needs to come to consoles.

I will forever hate Randy and GBX for showing us a demo that was never something real.

Even for the super cool edition bro package which I preordered, I still feel like the game was worth it, especially now that we're getting patches and support. I just hate the fact that between work and time with the gf, I barely have time to play it. But when I do, I mostly play at night. Mostly...

They mostly come at night, mostly.

Really happy about the positive response from the fans on this second patch since I only ordered the game off Amazon (brand spanking new, limited edition for a whopping £22 by the way) a couple of hours ago. The funny thing is, I only found out about this new patch AFTER I ordered the game! Fate seems to have smiled on me there since I went through quite a bit of a mental debate on whether to make the order, until I just thought f*ck it - I'm going to end up buying it at some point anyway, so I might as well make the order now in case the price goes up, after all, "It's the only way to be sure" ;)

So I should hopefully be rescuing some colonist daughters from their virginity with the rest and best of you dolts in few, long days! XD

I hope they increase the damage from acid blood in the next patch, you shouldn't be able to walk away after shoot an alien close range with a shotgun.

I would also like it if they remove the quick time event on the facehugger encounters and make it instant death. That would make it more suspenseful.

Got the chance to try the new patch out, and the AI is much improved the aliens run and dodge when under fire, try to flank and really utilize walls and tops of objects and structures.

I think the hit detection needs an update too. just seems like whatever youre shooting at has a box around them, and anything hitting the box counts as a hit, so even when shots are fired between legs or the arm and torso it still registers a hit.

If they were smart, they would focus mostly on multiplayer fixes, the campaign is not the reason why you would want to play this game in the first place. The main reason why anyone is still playing this and it's saving grace is because of it's multiplayer. = P

For people who haven't bought it - who are its primary target - the single-player campaign should have been why people wanted to play it.

Multiplayer for most games only has a finite life expectancy, in any case.

This. Being a huge Aliens fan, I was going to buy this regardless of the inclusion of multiplayer. Half the time I feel like multiplayer ruins some games that should never have it in the first place (dead space2). Co-op is a bigger seller for me since I know most games that come out have a multiplayer that's short lived and forgotten (and you can never unlock those achievements >:( )

MP achievements piss me off, a lot.

The Alien AI in campaign does seem to be improved a lot. The warriors are actually "dodging" my bullets more often than not like they would in AVP2010, and they're also taking cover like the lurkers do every now and again as well.

    EDIT
This is actually VERY common on soldier difficulty. This patch will probably make the campaign replayable for me. I've only played Hope At Hadleys since beating it on ultimate bad ass.

Beat 2 of the 3 levels on recruit. The level on the ship was a joke but Tribute was a total pain in the balls.

Has it been confirmed or denied if consoles are getting the PC improved graphics?

GBX labelled it as a PC Specific update. Why? Because consoles have a retarded file-size limit for patches, so don't expect it ever to come to the consoles...unless they offer it as a DLC option. (and that would mean spending money on a game that isn't doing very well... What to choose...Borderlands 2 DLC or Aliens DLC. I think GBX made up their minds already  :-X )

Some nice fixes I see though otherwise, though I wish the blurry front sights, hit detection issues and pouncing issues were fixed too. = P

I still haven't bought the game yet.  Gonna probably wait a few more months til it hits rock bottom pricing and then get it on the cheap.  With all these patches it might be a significantly better game by then...or at least worth about $20.

The lurker glitch should be a priority because it's game breaking,
but I think their heads are hurting to figure out what to save and fix first.  :)
At least I'm happy about the improved AI. They actually feel like aliens now.
I'm curious on how they are going to patch in the graphic improvement on the consoles though.
