AvPGalaxy Prometheus Blu-Ray Review

The Prometheus Blu-Ray sets are officially out today in the UK and tomorrow in the US. For those that haven’t got it yet, I recommend reading my Prometheus Blu-Ray Review. I still have mixed feelings about the movie but the Collector’s/Special Edition is a great set to have. There’s absolutely loads of extra content to keep you occupied.

 AvPGalaxy Prometheus Blu-Ray Review

You’re also in for a little surprise when you view the special features. AvPGalaxy makes an appearance in the last five minutes of the Making Of Prometheus documentary when they start talking about the fanbase. They show a selection of your posts and comments as well as some news posts. The site also appears in one of the Enhancement Pods: ‘The Case of the Fake FanFic’ which is about the Alien Harvest fan script. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Charles de Lauzirika, Jon Mefford and our very own Corporal Hicks for making this happen. It’s kind of a nice touch that after all our hard work, we’re getting some recognition.

It’s actually been ten years this week that I launched this website for Alien/Predator fans and we’ve come a very long way since then. We’ve followed four movies out of these franchises and are still here reporting news on the latest happenings with the series. Here’s to many more years to come.

Congratulations to AVPGALAXY and all of you who contribute to it. This website has been my go to place for A/P/AVP material since before the first AVP film and has been a great source of debate and appreciation for the film series.

It is so great that it got some recognition on the Prometheus blu-ray. I had a big smile on my face when they showed excepts from the site and was pleasantly surprised.

Great job guys Well done and keep up the good work.

WAAAAAHHHHAAAAA!!!!!! So many unanswered questions, I need to know all the answers. What a cry baby review...I'm so sick of you people picking apart this movie because it didn't live up to your pathetic wet dream expectations for it. GET OVER IT!! Be glad we even got another movie and that there is going to be more. I'm sure even if it was one of your wet dreams you would still find things to not like. The movie wasn't flawless but it was still a damn good movie!

    Put down the Mountain Dew.

There was absolutley nothing wrong with the plot of Prometheus... and I've seen many great books with equally great plots make for a poor movie experience.

Every problem comes down to the script and the editing, but that's only been stated by nearly everyone 10 million times.

I know - it's a bit like if somene states "I've told you a million times, don't over exaggerate"  ;)

Was fun to see my ole Space Jockey April fools concept on the Blu-Ray.  Had a lot of laughs that day seeing all the news outlets pick it up and freaking out over the Pred cannon.  ikarop and Corporal Hicks put me up to it!

    Congrats Darkness on 10 years!

It was cool to see the forum featured on the blu-ray..

It was cool listening to the cast how they admire the fans.

And then I remembered all the haters and how much they hate everybody involved with the movie...

    :'(

    Oh please.

How bout all of the generalizers and how they generalize every level of criticism. ::)

Most of the hate is directed at very few, and none of them are the majority of the crew involved in the production, especially not dat SFX crew.  Every problem comes down to the script and the editing, but that's only been stated by nearly everyone 10 million times.

True, everybody involved is a bit over the top.. True, there are people who don't hate the movie. But I feel overloaded by the people who do. Unfortunately here, Twitter, Facebook, even my best friend :D

I'm noting one missing name and that makes me chuckle.

If I remember that period correctly, this should be profoundly entertaining.

There's more than one missing name.

I need to get the second screen app, I couldn't find it when i watched the movie on Sunday, but apparently it's been on the Google Play store since the 6th.

anyway I think the movie is pretty good, like a 3/5 or 7/10. It's a visual treat whatever you think of the plot. and that's why I like it.
the 3D is amazing, probably better at home than at the theatre (I actually find this to be true with most 3D movies actually) and the 3 bonus 3D clips of Avatar, Titanic, and I, Robot are pretty cool features.

I have been playing around with the ipad app and extras and very happy. I have just watched Prometheus in 3d on my jvc x30 projector and it looks amazing ! I actually don't care what anyone else thinks about this movie ! I love it so so much and that's all that matters to me .. Lol !

I`ve been here since 2007 and try to visit every day. Thanks Darkness for this site, it really become part of my life, and thanks to all of you guys. I hope AvPGalaxy will have many more prosperous year ahead and recognition in official media is definatelly very nice touch  ;)

Superb review, sums up the movie rightly,  flawed.   Sadly the extra scenes etc will not give rise to the hoped for fan edit,  the extra scenes are pretty pointless really.
  16. Ash 937
I agree wholeheartedly with the stance Darkness took on Prometheus in his review.  And while I have no doubt to the superb quality of the Blu-Ray presentation, I just can't bring myself to buy a movie that I think deserves less than 3 stars either.  The only thing that would compel me slightly to own this film is because of its connection to Alien.

But then again, I could almost say that this film almost isn't a prequel either...

And under that notion I'm left asking myself if I would even purchase this film if the engineers were replaced by green martians and the space crafts resembled flying saucers instead.  Because that's really the only thing that binds this film to Alien. Without the visuals, this just isn't a prequel. So with that in mind, I just have to pass on this one...

Btw, I think it's great to acknowledge all of the success that this website has had over the years.  I am thankful to all of those who have made avpgalaxy what it is today.  Kudos to Darkness and the entire avpgalaxy team!

That was just great to read from you, Darkness. I don't know why, but it just felt so grand coming from you. I would be minnus a lot of pals if you had not launched this site ten years ago. So, thank you, Darkness.  :)

I apologize, if it comes across that way.  I can be a bit cold or snarky at times, but during both my comments, I was really was trying to congratulate you.

I was just a little irritated at your response to my best wishes, and when I didn't read ChrisPachi's post carefully enough - my mistake, I'm really sorry about that - I took another opputunity to voice my annoyance at your lack of gratitude.

I was not trying to make fun of you for defending the film - I even have defended the film a lot, as have I with many other films in the Alien quadrilogy.  I think it's a legitimately good thing to do - voice your opinion, and don't be afraid to say something different.  I'll add a smiley or something next time to diffuse the tension.  I was happy for predxeno when I thought he might've been in the extras too - a similar situation.  If you worked hard fighting for your opinion, you do deserve a part in the extras representing this large and great forum.

And judging my the 5 new replies - I think I just sealed a reputation of being an asshole when I was genuinely trying to be the opposite.

Now try explaining this to anyone not interested in this site.

"Look lads , that's me!!! LOOK!!!! Highland!!"

"Hell are you banging on about?! twat, who the hell watched these parts of the extras"

"Look the tag is me!!! #pauses Zooms in# # looks at mates with a I'm so cool look#  #signs into AVP galaxy#  LOOK lads!!!!!

"Loser, that could be anybody, lets stick the movie on eh?"

    Thud.
