Yeah the pounce seems to act like the Hunter from L4D, so if you blast the alien off, whoever got pounced is good.

Meh, at least it's included in the game.  At this point I'm just holding on for dear life.

    Hacking tool mini-game in A:CM for Wii-U.

    Spoiler

I was going to post a picture of 'Operation' then as a sort of update but I thought, maybe not  ::).

So seriously now; is that the current version of the minigame, or an American joke I'm unaware of?  (No there was no hidden meaning in that, I'm not being sarcastic, I am actually wondering is it genuine as I'm surprised they just revealed that on its own, or at all for that matter!)

How did you get the screenshot, by the way?

If I'm not mistaken they have shown keypad panel bypassing mechanic for the first time ever, it's a shame the texture quality was beyond shitty, on par with AVP2 from 2002!

Actually they had that in the AVP '10 campaign once or twice; but it was pretty much just plug in the Bypass unit, defend the area from a swarm of xenos for a minute or two, then disconnect it and move on through the doorway... :-\

Not to mention that for Burke to have survived Aliens, he would have had to have had a steel plate in his head and something more menacing than his corporate fists and steel-toed boots.

I'll just take a huge guess and say that WY have some secret experimental shit (as seen in the concept art) that Burke and Hudson are no doubt a part of.
What piece of conceptual art are you referring to in particular ???

Randy, you don't see Hudson or Burke die in Cameron's film because it's an effective filming style. The fate of not knowing what happened to them, the fact that the film leaves something to our imagination is what is scary. But applying this logic of "we didn't see them die so we can bring them back in a sequel" is laughable. If those characters are alive in the game, it's just completely over-the-top.

Realistically, we can probably assume the aliens would've taken Hudson and Burke back to where the hive was if they're alive (Burke is even shown cocooned in a deleted scene), but that all blows up moments later.

and I asked some other question in other thread that could be also fitting here:

and one more thing: I think the mention of encountering Hudson or Burke in some form was too much for the G4TV presenter :D

I will be buying this game regardless.  I dont like the idea of the spitter but the predalien and praetorian were not cannon but were both loved in avp2.

I am tired of every video being about, how this is a sequel! Its not, im sorry.  Its just a another video game.
and lmao at "yes, you should buy two copies. leave one copy in the plastic."

38:30 - 40:00 is quite a good section of that video; he talks a tidbit about the xeno soldier and lurker and you also learn that you can actually have 2 crushers fielded at once, which also suggests that the marines can have 2 smartguns fielded at once. In addition we learn that, for the campaign, the xeno spawn-points are changed depending on whether the player is playing co-op or solo.

Also, skip right to the end to see quite a good firefight (if you could call it that, it's more just the GBX xenos co-ordinating an ambush on the packed-together marine team) but it did remind me a lot of the second fight scene in the aliens movie, but with more action and beheadings - which brings me to my next compliment, I am quite surprised (in a good way) that they implemented beheadings and complete limb removal into the combat, which makes it quite a bit gorier (possibly even encorporating a more serious element, although the spitter possibly cancels that out lol) than the movies IMO.

Yeah, I can't imagine more than a fraction of people are going to go "The colony is still there?  Big glowing bulbs on an Aliens head?  Your product offends me and it shall not receive my coinage!  Good day to you, sir!"  Probably a few people will hold off until the reviews come in, but ultimately a huge chunk of Alien fandom will shell out for it.

Even if they alienate a couple thousand or hundred thousand fans there will be plenty of casual fans who'll buy, and play it. Then the casual gamers who are familiar with the franchise who will if it plays well enough. Itll at the very least be like AvP 2010 - hit hard, make a quick buck, then die inside 6 months. Still profitable.

They like to keep telling people that as if it'll buy them some sort of legitimacy.  ;D

I don't think Gearbox realizes that, though they blabber on about canon and authenticity while royally screwing up several key, key elements of the series, they're actually falling in line to continue the f**king facepalm canon mess that we've all been enjoying for the past decade plus.

    ;)

They think they're winning, when they're losing, but they're still winning, because in Aliens canon, when you lose, you really win.

To be honest, I just want them to fix the ridiculous running animations first. I can live with glowing sacks on a dingy alien because it's just a video game and it should be fun. But fix those damn animations.

The Newborn actually made sense though.

Dunno if these Aliens will make sense in the context of the game.  If it ends up they're all geneticially engineered, it's the same ballpark as the Newborn.

We've seen two Aliens in the movies who lack big glowing bulbs on their dopey looking heads, spit acid.

A specific class of Alien that spits is as pointless and redundant, as saying something is pointless and redundant.  If they want true accuracy to the films then all Aliens should be able to spit.

Yup.  The aliens in A:R were spitters. The Bambi Burster in Alien3 was also spitter and yet it has no representation (that we've seen so far in A:CM).   Instead, we get something with glowing bulbs that resembles something from the EU instead of something from the actual canon.

Still, I haven't seen anything as ridiculous as the newborn despite every new breed of alien looking worse than the previous.

I suppose things could be worse...

    :-\

But this isn't a movie - it's a game and things like spitters and other classes that have no place in a film, can suit a game context.

    Baseless.

Maybe they envisaged the runner to be too fragile for it to fit the role they had in mind.
If they truly think the Runner would be too fragile for the role, then they shouldn't be making this game. At least, not until they refamiliarize themselves with the films. It's a freak'n Alien for crying out loud. By default, that makes it tough enough.

Quote from: Bio Mech HunterSpeaking of which, why are the Lurkers suppose to be the fastest and most agile Aliens in the game when the Runners clearly fill that role?

Because the runners aren't in the game, not multiplayer anyway.
If they aren't in single-player, Gearbox should put them in single-player. Likewise, if they aren't in multiplayer they should put them in multiplayer. Not create a whole new Alien for a role that's already filled. Especially one with glowing "Hey, over hear! Shoot me!" bull's-eyes on it's head. What was Randy and his team thinking? *facepalm*

The Spitters irritate me so much because Gearbox is always swearing up and down, "authenticity this, authenticity that" when they're screwing up even the most basic Alien lore. I'm realizing more and more Gearbox wasn't the right developer for the job. The only thing they got going for them is the enthusiasm. Which, is starting to get annoying. I'm fairly sure we've all seen their interviews and commentary.

Who says that the spitter doesn't fit into canon? We know nothing of them, or their origins. Please tell me how they're "screwing up" the lore. I really do hate baseless accusations.
